Anyone had Brazilian Keratin treatment?

Has anyone got any experiences to share, good or bad? I'm about to spend lots of money on this to try and change my frizzy hair into smooth, straight hair that I can just wash and leave. Is this just wishful thinking?

Well, I had it done a couple of days ago. It hasn't been too bad not being able to wash my hair. I'll wash it in the morning so will let you know what I think of it then.

Any recommendations on after-care shampoo and conditioner? I don't want to keep spending lots of money on the ones I got from the hair salon if I can help it.

Tony£Guy charge between 120 and 150 for it, depending on the length of your hair. It is also formaldehyde-free, so not bad for your health.

ruby apparently there are two types.. one for around £100 which will last up to two months and the pricier one which is for 4-6 months.

10 days on and I love my hair, for the first time in my life!

ChippedChinaTeacup · 13/12/2010 15:36

Flumperoo.. you need to use shampoos which don't have sulphate or sodium in them as apparently salt will strip the keratin out of your hair.

Well, I've washed my hair and am very pleased. It's completely straight and frizz-free (wasn't particularly curly before, just wavy at the roots and frizzy all over).

I just hope it lasts. I've had the QOD Gold formula - anyone had that?

Thanks for the shampoo tip Chipped Smile

glad you like it flumperoo.. my hair has improved over the last week even more than it did originally.

I know it was a lot of money but I'm so happy I did it.. now saving up for next time!

Well, it lasted for 2 months, during which time I was really pleased with the results - just need a quick rough blowdry and my hair was straight and smooth. How about yours Ruby? I'm now wondering about trying different brands. A salon nearby has a special offer on the La Braziliana. Has anyone tried that one?

I love mine. My flyaway prone hair is lovely and sleek. I bought the stuff myself (for £20 from ebay) and got my mobile hairdresser to put it on and straighten it for £10.

grumpypants · 06/03/2011 12:12

i'm not having it done again - my hair feels a bit like my nails did after the false ones came off - looked really good while it lasted but not great now. feels like Barbie hair now.

Fumperoo---can you tell me which salon did the QOD treatment for you? I'm having trouble finding one.

thanks!

Hello everyone. Can someone suggest me if Insight shampoo is good for keratin treated hair? It says SLS Free on the packaging.

KingIrving · 14/10/2017 08:13

Just a word of caution. This treatment called brazilian keratin contains very high level of formaldehyde and there is a risk for health.
