For Karl Lagerfeld and Chanel, this season it is all about 'fantasy fur', the luxe faux furry likely .

Yes I saw that in vogue but I must confess to shamefully rather liking the real thing

So wish an aged relative had left me a vintage mink jacket which would negate a lot of the ummm moral issues.

Oh fur is more than acceptable - almost de rigueur . I had a good browse in Le Bon Marché today - gorgeous things...

The very next year Santa bought me a rather beautiful Tiffany diamond ring, a selection of Smythson Stationery, and a rose damask candle from Ormonde Jayne......funny that!

Coco Chanel perfume is on my list. Have asked for this before from DH and got something completely different.

Traceybath year before last I get a phonecall on xmas eve from DH, whilst he is stood in a shop, saying 'well I don't know what to get you, this is ridiculous, you are spoiling my christmas.'....then I received 4 bath blasters from Lush and a dressing gown.

Last year I had diamonds. He got the message.

PS - I have an airloom fur...it's beautiful, but I always feel I have to defend myself wearing it....along the lines of 'it was granny's....I know, real fur...she was terrible, but what can I do, I loved her.'

Tulpe - I'll see your Nigella mixing bowls and raise them with a hose pipe on a wheel and a box of horrible Christmas tree baubles - cos "they were next to the checkout". (DH kept stressing the importance of the hose pipe being on a wheel - like it made a difference !)

I think my face said enough (MIL was there when I opened it so couldn't throw a full on strop even tho she thought it a wonderful pressie!) and he did bring me back a diamond necklace from a sailing trip later that Spring tho.

Think the hose pipe was some sort of karma at work tho - my old Saturday job was in Woolworths and we used to prey on men who came in at 3pm on Christmas Eve and sell them all sorts of tat! Apologies to all DW's who were on the receiving end!

OWW - sorry but am LOLing like a loon right now :o Am I correct in thinking your DH is dutch? If so am wondering if naff gifting is part of their characteristics as DH also nederlander! It has taken me the best part of 10 years to convince him to buy me a card for my birthday (another dutch tradition is not to buy cards for people you spend the day with)
