So, you're about to have your picture beamed around the world, what do you wear?

Carole Middleton joined her husband to make a public statement about their daughter becoming the wife of the future King.

She knew her picture would be seen by millions of people around the world and that she was representing the Middleton family.

If it had been you opening your wardrobe that day (actually, be honest style and beauty ladies, you would have been planning the outfit for years weeks) what would you have pulled out to wear?

Would you have chosen a pair of blue jeans?!!

well, she looks good in them

she's quite a good lookimg woman and seems confident with who she is, so she can do as she wishes, imo

MollysChambers · 17/11/2010 14:05

I honestly didn't notice what she was wearing.

tulpe · 17/11/2010 14:12

perhaps she was aiming for a down to earth, approachable look. Walking out in her finest would have looked a bit odd, no?

RunforFun · 17/11/2010 14:16

I thought she very looked odd considering the occasion.

Its a bit wierd not to have made more of an effort ...confident in yourself or not.

TheFoosa · 17/11/2010 14:30

I'm sure she'll make an effort for the actual wedding

Grin

Just interested to know what the S&B divas would have worn...

BlingLoving · 17/11/2010 14:45

Oh, I quite liked her outfit. It was casual. Didn't like Kate's.

DaisySteiner · 17/11/2010 14:46

They were in the bloody garden in the freezing cold! I don't blame her one bit.

c0rns1lk · 17/11/2010 14:47

link?

midnightexpress · 17/11/2010 14:49

Actually, I thought she looked pretty good in her jeans for a woman in her (I guess) 50s. Who gives a monkeys what she's wearing anyway? What do you think she should be wearing - a tiara?

ladiesinwaiting · 17/11/2010 14:53

No, I think a tiara would have been ott.

Just wondering what you would have worn.

I thought good for her wearing jeans. She can't win. If she'd got really dressed up, she would have been criticised for trying too hard.

SleepingLion · 17/11/2010 15:02

link?

Errmmmm · 17/11/2010 15:04

Her dad's jacket looked like it was buttoned up wrong. I don't this it was, but it looked like it.

TheFoosa · 17/11/2010 15:14

here

Romanarama · 17/11/2010 15:14

I thought she looked good, and so did Kate. That Issa dress was spectacular. I thought it was a shame they read a statement rather than speaking off the cuff though - it's not very hard to say 'William's a great guy and we're thrilled', is it?

Granard · 17/11/2010 16:10

She looked nice - relaxed and casual, as if she was just popping out for the paper.

Don't want to hijack this thread and maybe there is one on this elsewhere.... but what are M Netters views on using his Mum's engagement ring?

traceybath · 17/11/2010 16:15

I thought she looked fine but she's slim and youthful looking - do agree though his jacket looked a bit odd.

tulpe · 17/11/2010 16:49

I think using his mum's engagement ring is a lovely idea. My MiL left me her engagement ring in her will 5 years ago. When BiL got married last year I offered the engagement ring to him for his bride - it was his mother and it was a nice way to involve her after her death.

Look, you're not playing the game Grin.

She's a lovely looking woman who looks great in jeans; but is this what YOU would have chosen for this occasion?

Oufit choices please..

(Or would you all have chosen jeans?) Confused

WhatsWrongWithYou · 17/11/2010 22:15

She's a great-looking woman but her natural beauty was somewhat subdued by her choice of outerwear.

Whilst I refuse to can't say what I'd have worn, I do know for sure that it wouldn't have been a fleece.

I agree she'd have looked silly wearing a tiara or the like, and you wouldn't want to look as if you'd made a huge effort, but neither would you want to look like you'd just been caught in the middle of doing the gardening (unless you were a true aristo, of course) Wink.

Bonsoir · 18/11/2010 09:57

I thought Kate's parents' came across very well indeed - they didn't try to be anything other than who they actually are, which is very much to their credit.

They've had an awfully long time a little while to prepare for this, and I think they managed to carry it all off in a natural sort of way despite that!

deliciousdevilwoman · 18/11/2010 13:44

She looked good-and relaxed in her skin.

I would have worn a nice dress-something simple but with a twist. You can't go wrong with a nice dress. And heels, obviously.

switchtvoffdosomelessboring · 18/11/2010 16:04

I'll play!

Personally I'm not sure what I'd wear, but my daughters are only 1 at the mo so a lot of it would depend on how old/fat I was by the time they were old enough. But Kates mum has a fab figure. If I was her I might have went for this sort of jacket but I'm not sure if you'd want to be so fashionable and perhaps not natural enough.

Or maybe a kinda wax
