What's your day to day "look" this Autumn?

Have spent the afternoon packing up summer wardrobe. I am left with a pretty ragtaggle bunch of clothes. I find myself living in jeans, tops, flat shoes so need to make that somehow look stylish. Is that possible? How would you throw that together to still look like the sexy yummy mummy you know is dying to get out! what will you be sporting at the school gates this Autumn?

this autumn i will be mostly wearing large bags under my eyes

and linen trousers that look like they are meant to be baggy and creased and some lovely plain jumpers. not gonna bother with the whole tailored look etc until i see it sticking as hard as boho did. haven't got the urge ot be dedicated follower of fashion. i think shiny hair and make up at the school gates is enough to blow evceryone away. if yer so inclined.

I'm planning to get a pair of smartish boots (maybe wedge heel?) and a smartish winter coat so that jeans look smarter than say with a fleece and trainers.

Always have make up and some jewellry too I think.

I'm 35 and I get such massive wardrobe crises!! (In my head I'm still 18, and I used to dress in what the young folk call Boho chic! But I'm too old now for all that, but not ready to wear jeans and a sweatshirt all the time either...
I work 2 days a week so they get very confused in the playground. Some days I am smartish and others I look like a complete hippy. But that's ok, I hate to be pigeonholed - this way it keeps them all guessing!
I agree with merryberry, a good shlop of lippy and brushed hair usually invites a chorus of ''you look nice''.

I be going for the belly hanging out look because my tops are too short to cover bump, not big enough for my maternity jeans, and I haven't got enough pennies to buy some new inbetweeny clothes.

I look lovely as you can imagine, and DH must find me so appealing

Luckily he is very tactful, and tells me that I look lovely whatever I wear

GhostofNatt · 19/09/2005 17:34

I'm going for that look too, fs, and complementing it with Janis Joplin style hairdo and avocado complexion, it could be the next boho...

flamesparrow · 19/09/2005 17:38

I'm going for the "bed head" look today (actually got into the car before I realised I'd forgotten to brush it ).

The nice polka dot complexion for me

dropinthe · 19/09/2005 17:48

I will be sporting the "BHS- only jeans that are big enough to cover my bulging belly and are all that I could afford although I would love a pair of 7 jeans or whatever the celebs wear look but Hey Ho"..Look!

Have you seen that one? Its very chic!

Teamed with a miriad of cheap vets/tops/cardis ALA Primark/ASDA etc!

I'm going for the same slightly frazzled, slightly manic appearance as I have over the rest of the year, and probably the same old baggy trousers and age-old shirts as well.

With maybe the odd age-old baggy jumper thrown in when the weather gets cold.

edodgy · 22/09/2005 17:25

Fat and pregnant.

JoolsToo · 22/09/2005 17:27

Same as spring summer and winter

jeans, comfortable shoes - tee shirt when warm, gansy when cold

Nemo1977 · 22/09/2005 17:28

pmsl im with edodgy o with a slightly beddraggled look

hatstand · 22/09/2005 17:34

I am swapping my strappy sandals for boots and wearing exactly the same as I have been most of the summer - skirts that pay a bit of token gesture to the floppy dippy hippy thing (in actual fact they're overgrown ra-ra skirts when I think about it but don't tell anyone), jigsaw cardis, and on cooler/scruffier days, jeans. And when it gets relly cold I'll dig out some wooly tights.

hatstand · 22/09/2005 17:35

gansy??? have you just turned into cod or am I missnig something?

moondog · 22/09/2005 17:35

What's a 'gansy' JT?!

I had my first look around the shops in aeons today (normally buy from Boden for all of us as I can't stand shopping)and although there were some really nice things, can't envisage a time when I will ever get out of my jeans, long sleeved t shirt, cardigan and Chelsae boot ensemble.
I need to be able to move and quick!!

So depressing, got some nice stuff but when shall I ever wear it again? Funky suede trousers and wispy tops and high heels don't seem to go with babies and little kids.

hatstand · 22/09/2005 17:40

moondog - are you wondering round shops in the back of beyond in Turkey????

moondog · 22/09/2005 17:41

Er no. Bangor North Wales actually!

I'll tell you what though,Turkish clothes are great (even in the back of beyond) as are the shoes. Van has a better and cheaper choice than anywhere (including London! Kid you not!)

bonym · 22/09/2005 17:47

bosscat - today I am actually sporting a "Yummy Mummy" t- shirt - in aid of CLIC (children with cancer)

A "ganzy" is a jumper ... comes from the word "Guernsey", I believe. Brummies use it a lot.

lucykate · 22/09/2005 17:48

my autumn accessory seems to be a line of baby sick down my left arm, on everything. even my favorite boden cardi

JoolsToo · 22/09/2005 17:49

wiggy - you know everything
