What's your day to day "look" this Autumn?

Have spent the afternoon packing up summer wardrobe. I am left with a pretty ragtaggle bunch of clothes. I find myself living in jeans, tops, flat shoes so need to make that somehow look stylish. Is that possible? How would you throw that together to still look like the sexy yummy mummy you know is dying to get out! what will you be sporting at the school gates this Autumn?

I don't know everything ... nearly everything, but not everything

I only know Ganzy because it's used a lot around here - I had assumed that it was a Black Country thing but it obviously gets around a bit!

Aiming (very, ie in my dreams) optimistically for yummy mummy style this autumn. Attemting to achieve this with lots of layers including Noa Noa dresses over trousers, plus of the moment accessories (hats/bags/scarves - mainly from Tesco). Hoping to find "that perfect coat" whatever it would be like - aren't we all?

Dresses over trousers is probably totally over by now but I am not in London so there will be a lot of people round here who don't know that. Probably the same people who don't get dresses with trousers in the first place though...

Meaning to set aside time and energy for a session in H&M - should keep things up to date. Haven't really got into the swing of autumn yet though as it's been too hot here except in the early mornings!

wheresmyfroggy · 22/09/2005 20:37

The same one I had during spring and summer (have had to seriously curb my clothing spending since moving house in june )

MarsLady · 22/09/2005 20:38

gyspy skirts, jeans/denim skirt, military jacket. not that I'm a fashion victim or anything

Blossomhill · 24/09/2005 13:52

Tight jeans, long boots and things like wrap around dresses over top, layered and anything stripy

Not going to go for majerette (sp?) jackets as already everywhere

Normally wear bootleg jeans or cords with casual embroidered tops or lambswool sweaters - slightly more "done up" than just jeans and t-shirt but not too smart.

Would like a new look though, perhaps involving long skirts and boots but just don't think it's practical or necessary to make too much effort of expense when I'm just doing the nursery run or shopping.

puff · 24/09/2005 15:03

Well I've lost 6 stones, so have been treating myself to some new clothes .

I'm wearing mainly long gypsy style skirts, with a thin top and wrap around cardi, plus long suede boots.

or

Jeans (def not skinny) with smartish t shirts and the wrap cardis again, plus a nice belt for the jeans. Then ankle length wedge heel boots under jeans.

Bought a smart tailored knee length coat which can be worn with jeans to make them look smarter, plus a little black suede jacket with fur trim.

It has been a long time since I have enjoyed clothes shopping like this.

JonesTheSteam · 24/09/2005 15:13

6 stones Puff - well done!!!

Will probably spend most of the autumn in my jeans - bootcut - will not be doing skinny jeans [shudder]- and smart(ish) fitted t-shirts and jumpers with the occasional long skirt thrown in for good measure!!

Have also made a vow to try and avoid trainers and stick to smart boots (in a vague attempt to make my legs look longer).

expatinscotland · 24/09/2005 15:38

Third trimester pregnant and don't want to buy any maternity clothes. That's my 'look'.

dramaqueen72 · 24/09/2005 16:26

just nearly passed out in mohair wrap around cardigan this morning. so sod that for a 'new season look' effort. WHY isnt it cold enough to wear anything seasonal??????
its jeans, cords sometimes, and long sleeved v neck t-shirts......occasional shirt instead. short black wedge boots. and a huge bump as 27wks pg (but looking 37wks)so whatever i mean to look like never quite pans out with the huge bump, shattered panda eyes and strange waddle when walking.
absolutely glamerous me.

cupcakes · 24/09/2005 21:23

Had been avoiding buying new clothes as I had been hoping to have a maternity wardrobe soon (fingers crossed) but am getting fed up of just looking at shoes and bags and want to buy something now, whilst I'm still relatively thin.
(I should probably just go and buy some skinny jeans because then I'd definitely get pregnant...)

Passionflower · 24/09/2005 22:24

Jeans, BIG belts, sexy jumpers and sexier boots. Have promised myself that I will never wear a sweatshirt ever again.
