Uber-romantic shoot styled by Anastasia Barbieri and featuring her DD here

I couldn't find it in Sainsburys!

PosieComeHereMyPreciousParker · 04/11/2010 13:46

Terrible.

pooter · 04/11/2010 13:48

Agree posie.

darcymum · 04/11/2010 13:49

Did you not think some of those pictures of the child looked a bit, I don't know, dodgy? I wouldn't want my child in a magazine looking like that. Maybe I'm being silly though and seeing something that isn't there.

expatinscotland · 04/11/2010 13:50

Why is it terrible?

It just looks very French to me.

Ingles2 · 04/11/2010 13:51

Yuck!
What do you think Anna?

Poppity · 04/11/2010 13:51

beautiful pictures maybe, but I wouldn't want my little girl in them with so little on

PosieComeHereMyPreciousParker · 04/11/2010 13:52

It can look French, Chinese or Portuguese and I would still think terrible. Very try hard and wannabe if you ask me, like the stylist has made far too much effort to create something and it seems contrived.

Bonsoir · 04/11/2010 13:52

I think it is a very beautiful story - really lovely. Which is why I posted it!

What's beautiful about a scrawny model and sour faced child taking it in turns to be half dressed???

expatinscotland · 04/11/2010 13:54

Hmm. No, I don't think it looks terrible. I think it looks French, but I don't find that terrible in and of itself.

If I saw it and did not know where it was from, I would be inclined to surmise it was from a European edition of Vogue, tbh.

pooter · 04/11/2010 13:55

The picture of the woman sat next to the girl with the woman holding a doll and looking all coy makes me very uneasy. Are they trying to infantalise her? Are they meant to be mother and daughter?

Sorry Bonsoir - lovely floaty dresses and everything, but not my cup of tea.

expatinscotland · 04/11/2010 13:56

My daughter will almost assuredly look like that model. She is already tall and slender from a family of very tall, slender people.

Glad to know the world will judge her as 'scrawny'.

Hmm
expatinscotland · 04/11/2010 13:56

It isn't my cup of tea, either, but meh.

winnybella · 04/11/2010 13:57

I think it's quite nice actually.

Bonsoir-sorry for hijack- do you know a good British shop in Paris? I've been going to the one next to Republique, but they haven't got much.

PosieComeHereMyPreciousParker · 04/11/2010 13:58

expat....the model's shoulders are broad and she is very very thin, not lean or slender. I have 'skinny' tall friends...none of which look skeletal.

Bonsoir · 04/11/2010 13:58

I go to England pretty often so don't usually look for English stuff here in Paris. If you want mincemeat for mincepies and elderflower cordial, try WHSmiths. If you want biscuits and fruit cake, try La Grande Epicerie.

OP posts:
winnybella · 04/11/2010 13:59

Posie- it's just French, that's all Grin

I like M.Jansson a lot.

expatinscotland · 04/11/2010 13:59

DD1 already has a complex about being tall and slender.

But I'd never teach her to describe heavy people with negative terms.

It's okay to pick on people who are thin or skinny, though.

Hmm
Bonsoir · 04/11/2010 13:59

Hope your DD's looks bring her $$$$$, expat Smile

OP posts:
winnybella · 04/11/2010 14:00

I don't think Sasha's skeletal, tbh. Could think of lots of other models who are, but she's just skinny.

expatinscotland · 04/11/2010 14:00

Okay, then, Posie.

She must be anorexic, to be so 'skeletal'.

Gees, no wonder Erin O'Connor used to get so pissed off when so many insulted her integrity and asked her horribly personal questions, such as did she still menstruate, because of her physique.

Ingles2 · 04/11/2010 14:01

I sooo knew you were going to say that Anna Grin ...
Admittedly Mikael is Swedish so may well look on things differently,...
I, however, see an over contrived, over styled, over precocious, over sexualized and totally unnecessary story...
and as you know Anna, I'm a kids fashion photographer.

winnybella · 04/11/2010 14:02

Thanks Bonsoir, will try La Grande Epicerie. I don't allow myself to go to WHSmith anymore as I can't leave without spending way too much on books each time.

expatinscotland · 04/11/2010 14:02

thank you, bonsoir :)

she already had two lovely French girls, who spoke excellent English,'styling' her in Amsterdam airport where we were all stuck.

i loved it when she told them where she was from when they asked and they nodded to each other and whispered, 'Ecosse!'
