Think it is very beautifully shot.i was skinny at that age and willowy looking it didn't last so she should enjoy it before it goes south!

winnybella · 04/11/2010 14:03

expat- I erm...am quite certain that there was some truth in rumours re EOC, sadly.

expatinscotland · 04/11/2010 14:03

Ingles, have you seen how some of the children are posed in this season's Next catalogue?

expatinscotland · 04/11/2010 14:05

Thing is, winny, it's not polite to assume all overweight or obese people are just gluttons, so IMO it's just as impolite to assume anyone who is very tall and thin is anorexic or call them negative names.

DD1 gets called giraffe legs, gazelle girl, all sorts.

She eats and eats now, trying to gain weight.

MarshaBrady · 04/11/2010 14:05

I was considered (naturally) skinny when I was a child. I wanted to be plumper in every way.

I remember an adult saying, ah she will be beautiful when older. I hung on to that Smile

Things have probably changed and young girls want to be thinner than in my childhood.

Expat your dd will be fine with the comfort of sensible adults.

As for the shoot, I love the clothes.

notinmypocket · 04/11/2010 14:05

Don't like it mucj either
Especially the last picture is far too soft focus Emmanuelle like for me. Fine for adult models but achild?

expatinscotland · 04/11/2010 14:06

It's true, noddy. This model is probably quite young.

I couldn't keep the weight on until I was about 34 myself.

winnybella · 04/11/2010 14:07

Sure, I agree, was just commenting on Erin- but yes, I got called anorexic by total strangers on the street Confused- nothing could be further fron the truth-very rude and just stupid.

PosieComeHereMyPreciousParker · 04/11/2010 14:08

Expat, most people who are very over weight over eat and most people underweight have eating disorders. To ignore the wealth of models who peddle the myth that they are naturally thin is disingenuous.

noddyholder · 04/11/2010 14:08

Clothes look amazing on those sort of bodies as that level of clothes are made with that in mind and anything else is a bit 'stuffed sausage' Sad but true.Expay your dd will love it when she is older and could be raking it in which looking at uni fees seems like a good idea!

winnybella · 04/11/2010 14:09

Posie- it's true that lots of models have eating disorders, but also there is lots that are naturally very skinny.

MarshaBrady · 04/11/2010 14:10

It would be very, very difficult to maintain a modelling career on diet alone. The good agencies are supposed to be quite good at recognising all this.

PosieComeHereMyPreciousParker · 04/11/2010 14:11

Children call each other names, unfortunately it's part of life. DS2 is the shortest in his class (he's 7) and I'm sure that will be a point of ridicule as he gets older, DD, just four, is in age six clothes and if she continues to be tall she'll get teased.

I'm guessing expat you never say anything about anyone's appearance and hold a halo in your pocket?

AitchTwoOh · 04/11/2010 14:13

i think it's really over-styled and contrived and rather unlovely, actually. where was the maternal relationship, the love etc~? i am rather surprised that there wasn't more of an evident connection there.

and without being a total paedo-panicker i did go 'erk' at the one with the wee girl with her legs apart and the pink pants on.

PosieComeHereMyPreciousParker · 04/11/2010 14:14

ignore me, expat....bad day.

AitchTwoOh · 04/11/2010 14:14

sorry to hear you are having a bad day, posie.

PosieComeHereMyPreciousParker · 04/11/2010 14:22

Hey shit happens, someone has to live in these 'own worst enemy'shoesWink. But thanks Aitch.

AitchTwoOh · 04/11/2010 14:23

ach. i hear ya. kick 'em off if you can.

Corvidae · 04/11/2010 15:45

It reminds me of a dodgy 70's style fashion shoot, with a creepy edge.

I certainly didn't look at it and think 'oh, how beautiful'. I'm not sure that there is one photo that I admired.
