In search of "the" perfect little black dress

Have decided I would like a fabby black dress for the party season, that I can accessorize/ wear with different heels etc.

Have looked at loads but can't seem to fi d anything even half way decent.

Am curvy 12.

Good d chest so like to make the most of this

Chunky thighs so not too short.

Suit more fitted styles rather than floaty that seem to be popular at the moment... Don't want to look like a sack of potatoes Hmm

Any suggestions would be most appreciated .

Tia

selby · 01/11/2010 23:13

Giving up on the link - sorry!

KristinaM · 01/11/2010 23:36

geordie - you need fitted - 50s style with full skirt

although french connection drapey woudl also be good

agree no floaty or empire line

have you tried tk maxx at slverburn and kingsgate? you need to rummage but lots in right now, esp in smaller sizes.

top tip - remember lots of the clothes marked size 4 and 6 are american sizes ie UK 8 and 10

BTW did you get the clothes altered?

dexter73 · 02/11/2010 08:44

Selby - This one!

geordieminx · 02/11/2010 08:53

Sorry, took iPad to bed to bed to look at links and fell asleep. Blush

Love the French connection daria, was exactly what I had in mind. And the VW one for understated-ness

Kristina good point about tk maxx will have to get a child free day pencilled in.

Got dress taken up, at the local coven Wink

gorgeous Black dress in White Company with 12 little buttons down the back.I lust after it

Shhhh · 02/11/2010 16:07

I have this FC one. In black and cream as I loved it so much.

I have it in a 12 and even now a year on im a 12/14 Blush it still fits and looks stunning. Im around 4ft 11 and curvy.

I can honestly say its a dress that when I wear I get comments. Seems to fit me well and look smart and glam.

I paid about £110 for each but so worth it...

Shhhh · 02/11/2010 16:13

its also here in various colours.

geordieminx · 02/11/2010 19:29

I have this Coast dress in black so if you can find one (maybe ebay as I think its sold out in the shops) its worth it, gorgeous dress.

ebay

Gurraun · 03/11/2010 08:34

Shhhh - love the FC dress. Do the sizes come up large or small. I am a 10/12 - would you recommend a 10 or a 12? Thanks

Shhhh · 03/11/2010 11:34

Gurraun, IMO that fc one in particular is generous.
When I got it I was a true 12 and it fitted with breathing room iykwim and was fitted. But now a year on I'm around a 14 and although it still fits it's not as roomy iykwim.

If you are a 10/12 then gor for a 10. the way it falls though is fab in making all your lumpy bumpy bits non existent. I promise you , you won't be disappointed.

Read the reviews on that dress last night via fc website and looks like it's a very popular dress.. In fact I'm thinking of being it for. 3rd time... Possibly in red for Christmas...!

Let me know if you get it x

bananapeanutbutter · 03/11/2010 19:26

how long is this confused? i really like it but would need at least knee length. thanks!
