Roary, that is scary.
You've reminded me, I saw these today and like them. What do you think?

Carciofi - I do like my messenger but it is quite heavy and it does bang against my thighs when I push the pram which can be a bit annoying. (Have not dared utter any such things in presence of DH though as he already thinks I am un-pleasable, which I am !) I think it is because I am short, even though I have put strap on shortest buckles it is still quite low slung on me. But, on the whole I am Smile with it - I do think it makes me look more polished/put together in the mornings and it goes with black or brown boots so very wise.

Roary - love the crayon roll - have never seen one before. Bloss you must make forthwith! I beseech you, pleas!

Thanks guys, am still recovering. Of course totally second guessing myself now and wondering if it was really as bad as I thought.

Carciofi I loooooove them. I don't buy heels ever because I just do way too much walking. I was nonethless tempted by these but they are sold out.

Yangy I have seen those helmets! Your secret is safe here :)

Esher if we can't persuade Bloss on the crayon rolls there are tons on Etsy. Theyy really are seriously brilliant. I have one in my bag at all times and it's instant entertainment. THere also ones to hold little cars and am thinking about ordering a custom one to hold DD's favorite playmobil peope for Xmas! At the moment she goes to the drawer in the kitchen and gets out little sandwich bags and packs them up. Very sweet. Not quite as funny as when her playmobil horsies give each other rides, which is hilarious for us in a wholly inappropriate way Grin

Oh gosh roary - how scary for you - well done for taking action- good mother of the year, surely! I expect you never want to see another blueberry again Shock

Love the crayon rolls and wash bags are great Bloss - I'd like one too please.

Vin - how lovely for a baby to be named after your daughter -she must have really made an impact on the woman which must make you proud - very bittersweet for you I imagine. Sad

Can never keep up on my days at work and am gutted to have missed seeing Bunny's bum and Cake's orgasm.

They tried to deliver Janice today but she's been returned to the depot - will have to go and collect her tomorrow.

Night all

Yangy of course you are right! Interestingly sausages are up there for the absolute worst choking hazards because they are cylinders. The American Pediatrics association have actually asked hot dog makers to change the shape to something more square becuase a sausage essentially is windpipe shaped. They also suggest you halve sausages length wise before serving. Or, you know, avoid giving your baby blueberries Blush

Good god, it's midnight. Must got o bed, colour analysis tomorrow and DS grumbling away in his cot, probably wanting his milk...

LetThemEatCake · 04/11/2010 00:15

god, roary you poor thing, what a horrid scare. Glad he is okay. Don't berate yourself.

vin you really are coping with a tremendous amount atm. Glad you looked fab on first day back and am sure it will improve. So beautiful about your dd. Felt quite choked up reading it. Brave you.

Tracey I second red with charcoal or camel but I also love red with purple/ plum/ aubergine

(have finally scored a red sweater dress, yee-hah, knew it was just a matter of time)

OMG bunny three weeks!!

esher I have also sworn off the outnet.

GW glad the Phase 8 was good!

verity so glad you had a lovely time in Paris, and I can totally imagine that you look to be in your 20s!! You sound as though you are - all light hearted and lovely. None of the jadedness of a 30-plusser Wink

plum and esher and bloss - now that I've got my orgasm Hmm what do I do with it??

Great jacket tracey!

now, jackets. What do we think of Chanel-styley boucle jackets in the manner of this or even this? I have one in navy and tried it on tonight over jeans, red heels and Breton top and it looked really okay. Think the stripes give it a twist/ lift whatever cos when I tried with plain navy tee looked deathly dull, lunch with iLs.

But do I remember a convo recently about tweed + stripes = no? Is this in same vein??

I liked it

also - I was once a bit Hmm about floaty gauzy mini dresses styled with black opaques and black shoes but it's grown on me ... and I have the requisite components to recreate ... a cream silk/ chiffon mini dress with sheer short sleeves and rosettes all over the neckline ... very short ... and I kind of like the way it looks with tights and my Sam Edelman shoe boots ..wrong? muttonous?? unstylish????

OP posts:
LetThemEatCake · 04/11/2010 00:18

a ha - can't be unstylish - look

OP posts:
LetThemEatCake · 04/11/2010 00:41

Oh I hate being the last one up. Where's rufus?? where's ABO?? where's cain? they're night owls too!!

anyhoo I was getting a bit alarmed at the divergent paths of hells' and my wardrobes but couldn't stretch to/ justify the Tibi sequin dress really - so have ordered the HoF one here as discovered by WW (and thank you for the colours recs on the Biba one! I am getting such colour advice on this thread, tis marvellous - hope it's fun tomorrow btw roary)

anyway, while I was at it I found this and, since there was only one left in my size, it would have been churlish not to order it, don't you think?

OP posts:
LetThemEatCake · 04/11/2010 00:57

ooops one last post .. carciofi I saw those KG leopard print boots in RL yesterday - fabulous!!

(and a sensible heel for a pregnant lady Wink)

traceybath · 04/11/2010 06:37

Morning!

Roary - very frightening. I found DD with a half chewed/gummed blueberry in her mouth when she was about 4 months old courtesy of ds2 who thought she was hungry Hmm I am a bit weird about grapes and always cut them in half to my mother's amusement.

LTEC - I have a similar navy tweed jacket and oooh quite excited now at thought of it with breton. Also liking dress with opaques.

Verity - I was wondering yesterday how Paris was - so glad to hear you had a wonderful time Smile

The Outnet - well I have got the odd good thing but reckon that at least 50% goes back which is pretty annoying really.

Bloss - lol at your DH and his wouldn't you be cold comment Grin

roary · 04/11/2010 07:19

Hi all thanks again for support. No berries for brekkie!

Just a quickie to say knee highs : absolutely, darlings. Allow me to do brogues/crops and ballets. Dd calls them invisible feet and had 2 kids I do not know stroking them in wonder at soft play birthday. And they are really invisible , my friends at toddler group couldn't believe I had them on.

esher a good cobbler could shorten that strap for you in a jiffy.

MarshaBrady · 04/11/2010 07:40

just want to say before need to get going.

Roary you poor thing how scary. But so well done for getting rid of it.

Vin how lovely and moving.

Back in a bit.

hf128219 · 04/11/2010 08:03

LTEC It's not a no to tweed and stripes - just a no to stripey tweeds and stipes - IMO!

Roary What a fright. Glad all is OK.

Tracey Great jacket. Looks a little Marant I think.

Great sequin dresses at All Saints - check out the Davi (£££) amongst others.

Ooh er missus a female I met recently has ended up on the front page of The Sun today Shock

blossoming · 04/11/2010 08:13

roary, hope things are better now. You must gave been so scared. I love those crayon rolls. I will definitely investigate further.

verity, lovely to hear from you and so glad you had a good time in Paris.

blossoming · 04/11/2010 08:19

Yee ha!! ltec has given her blessing to tweed and stripes!!!

Mumsnut · 04/11/2010 08:40

Claygate cobbler very good, Esher, but a bit grumpy.

carciofi · 04/11/2010 09:10

Verity, missed your post, glad you had a great time. I feel a lot better in the last day or two, thanks, and have been going to the gym again. Let me know if you do start making children's clothes again because I would be very interested!

LTEC, I love Chanel type jackets.

OK, I think I will get those boots. Raaarrrr!

carciofi · 04/11/2010 09:11

Esher, I find the bag a bit heavy too.

MarshaBrady · 04/11/2010 09:13

Verity I'm so glad Paris was wonderful. I bet it was a wonderful thing to do, especially as inspiration for your great designs Smile Also impressed with the baby clothes. Be fabulous to see that if you do it again.

Yangy it can bomb a bit when you see something too much I agree.

Esher great stuff. Agree re theoutnet being hit or miss. Traceyb and Hells have had some fabulous successes I think. Otherwise after a while it feels bit like paying a shop assistant £10 to bring something to try on! Grin

I like stripes and tweed too and agree with Hf Smile.

notyummy · 04/11/2010 09:43

Hello All!

Goodness, been quite busy on here hasn't it? Was late back from work last night (had to sign the Late Book at Kids Club for the first ever time - BAD MUMMY!)The s**t has hit the fan big time at work - a voluntary redundancy package has been announced(but there won't be enough money for everyone who wants it...) and everyone is running around like headless chickens trying to decide what to do. I foolishly volunteered to a few weeks ago to head up a team of people with the requisite skills to support people during the closure process. (As I am one of the few people to have been through interviews/assessment centres/worked in the private sector/done consultancy. Everyone else here has worked in the civil service for 150 years and are understandably freaked out by getting a new job...) So yesterday the world and their wife wanted to 'share' with me. No time to eat, literally. Struggled to go to the loo. Anyway, working at home today. Lots to do - but at least not lots of worried and needy people parking themselves on my desk every 2 minutes.

Esher - loving your work. Some great links there...and yes, funny old thing, I like the look of that blue maxi! Having said that it looks like it may cling to every lump and bump and that may not be good for the 'indent'. Hmm.

Roary - How scary! Sounds like you did just the right thing though. As mentioned, we have probably all had similar experiences. It happened to me once, but I took 30 secs to realise what was going on....whilst my more experienced friend with 3 kids leapt over to dds high chair and gave her an almighty back slap. Food expelled - daughter screaming - me grateful and Blush that I hadn't been quicker off the mark myself.

Everything - Like those boots. I know what you mean re M and S. We were in the Lincoln one last weekend buying dd a coat and it was sea of Per Una monstrosities. That said, I saw a few nice things in the shoe department.

LTEC - Am loving both those House of Fraser links. In fact, I may well have a trawl on that site myself this morning...

Verity - So glad you enjoyed Paris!

Well, this AM I am mainly wearing 'leisurewear' as I intend do get busy with Billy Blanks and his Ultimate Bootcamp Workout (hip allowing) once I have done a few more hours work. Not very stylish, but there it is! I am intending to order some REN products as have a free gift offer. Will have to hide from DH as he is trying to buy me Xmas pressies and has therefore forbidden me from buying anything which he could get me instead! Having said that, he has been away for a week, and won't be home for another 10 days, so not much fear of him finding anything. Am a bit aggrieved as he is going to a swanky dinner in the Tower of London a week on Friday instead of coming home (having been away for 2 weeks.) He did want me to come, but it is a relatively early start and our mothers help is away. So the logistics of getting dd from school, to a London hotel where an unknown sitter from an agency would have to put her to bed all got stupid and I said I couldn't do it. So he is going....with another woman Shock She is an old friend and was at our wedding. But still and all.... (I have absolutely no concerns ref DHs fidelity btw, its more the thought of me sitting at home in my PJs watching TV whilst he parties the night away in..) Harrumph. Anyway, I will flirt shamelessly with young handsome waiters on my girls weekend away in January to make up for this Grin
