I buy the regular size and I'm 5'2" as I find the petite ones have short arms (I think I may be in the minority here though).

FolornHope · 31/10/2010 21:19

ah got an email
no knowledge as if to any more coming in
am in states at xmas but its a bit bulky

It packs up very small - the one I shipped last week came from LE paced right down to about the size of a largish shoe box.

cyb · 31/10/2010 22:14

wear it home

gorehaginhellsbum · 01/11/2010 06:39

Yep, it's warm but squishes very flat in a package.

Meggles76 · 01/11/2010 09:57

Mine LE also arrived squished very flat but unsquished (did I just invent a word?!) very quickly and I am toasty warm in it. Main reason for getting is that we are off to Bruges for a week in December and it is normally pretty chilly there. I know this keep me super warm.

Mumsnutterwithanaxeontheloose · 01/11/2010 10:33

I don't believe the 'boutique' versions will be warm enough or water repellent.

I got a Land's End down coat last year, and although I don't feel my best in it, I am always warm. Since I only wear it for ds's rugby/footy matches or walking in the woods, I don't much care about the style shame of the Land's End label.

latrucha · 01/11/2010 13:33

Nor do I really.

SandyChick · 01/11/2010 16:52

My back-up plan if I couldn't get the lands end one was the berghaus akka long down coat. I think the cheapest I found it for was £125.

noddyholder · 01/11/2010 20:08

berghaus akka is lovely and quite flattering Saw one in snow and rock v nice Also armani jeans do them or did

ladylush · 01/11/2010 20:45

Have you seen an anne klein one very similar to the LE chevron? Will try and link.

ladylush · 01/11/2010 20:53

I've been thinking about it but scared in case the sizing is wrong - it's an overseas website.

gorehaginhellsbum · 02/11/2010 22:00

FH Did you sort out your coat with SC?

mylifewithstrangers · 02/11/2010 22:10

So tell me, are long down jackets in then??? Cos I tried one on the other day (the Berghaus Akka as it happens) and was rather taken by it, but the OH gave me a look that could have soured milk and I think "rather 90s" was mentioned.

Not being any kind of style icon, I have no idea what's in at all. If youse all tell me down jackets are where it's at you'll solve the perennial problem of my birthday present, and I'll get to be warm and snuggly all winter.

And the OH can go jump ...

lucykate · 02/11/2010 22:13

i have the lands end squall in brown, dh hates it, says i look like a walking compost bin, but i love it.

ladylush · 03/11/2010 07:48

Well I don't care if they are in or not. I just want to be warm. But at the same time I don't want to look like a caterpiller so I think I will have to try on (and not order from an overseas website) Sad

FolornHope · 03/11/2010 07:52

it briefly cam into stock
think i might buy in states

infort the one that SC had was a petite!

OP posts:
brimfull · 03/11/2010 08:37

doubt they will do down jackets in florida
distinctly summery clothes only there iirc

FolornHope · 03/11/2010 10:17

Hmm I feared thus. Tell of top tips.
