Bored of Boden - what else?

Dancergirl · 25/10/2010 22:38

I do still like Boden a lot, but their clothes seem to be dominating my wardrobe. I also shop at White Stuff and M&S Per Una quite regularly and occasionally Hobbs.

Where else can I try? I suppose I like the mail order aspect of Boden - I prefer to buy and try on at my leisure at home and send back what I don't need. Traipsing round the shops for hours on end and not finding anything is a right pain.

Isabella Oliver - I love it

childrenofthecornsilk · 25/10/2010 22:39

Boden do some really nice stuff though - lots of it is pants I know

happilyeverafter · 25/10/2010 23:02

My staple stores are French Connection or Zara but I buy from all over.

Places I have bought from in the last month or so would also include Oasis, M&S, Whistles, White Company, Isabella Oliver, Peacocks, ASOS, Phase Eight, Boden, Pure and Zara. Great Plains have loads in that I like currently but I haven't managed to get into store yet.

BelligerentGhoul · 25/10/2010 23:07

Step away from Per Una if you value your life on here!

Our House of Fraser is now stocking some Dickens and Jones stuff, some of which is quite nice in a not-quite-as-recognisable-or-quite-as-bonkers-as-Boden kind of way.

White Company? Kew?

childrenofthecornsilk · 25/10/2010 23:08

Dickens and Jones is lovely but £££££

BelligerentGhoul · 25/10/2010 23:09

I didn't look at the prices - just walked very quickly past it on my way to the sale bit in Warehouse with dd and thought 'ooh must go back and look at that at some point!'

DinahRod · 25/10/2010 23:13

maktaitai · 25/10/2010 23:40

Could try People Tree? I leafed through their catalogue at someone else's house and loved every single thing in it - twas very sculptural and lovely. previously I assumed they would be a bit hemp and fluffy. But nothing in my size (goes up to 16).

Otherwise i thought Great Plains catalogue was quite mouthwatering.

purplepeony · 26/10/2010 08:10

KEW is prob the nearest in quality and demography to Boden- not so much ymmy mummy though and more working wardrobe/smart casual.

sailorsgal · 26/10/2010 08:56

WRAP has some lovely stuff which is priced about the same as boden.

Dancergirl · 26/10/2010 11:02

Isn't Isabella Oliver maternity? Confused

Stokey38 · 26/10/2010 11:07

COS - but I think they are only in London but may be wrong. Lovely and very classic. Also do the most amazing childrens clothes. Not online yet but apparantley sometime soon.

iwilldothis · 26/10/2010 11:12

Dancergirl, they also have a non-maternity section called Isabella Oliver 365 ;)

I have had lots of success with m&s autograph weekend, m&s limited collection, jigsaw, phase 8, the odd Laura Ashley and fat face for high summer. I have a lot of plain boden stuff too. I'm currently liking the cable knit tunic.

BelligerentGhoul · 26/10/2010 12:05

There is a Cos in Birmingham too. Lovelt stuff but cut for tall, straight up and down people with no norks, ime.

I like some of M&S Autograph but again, a lot of it is too long for me. Limited Collection used to be good but getting much worse.

vintage4 · 26/10/2010 13:17

deaddei · 26/10/2010 14:06

Mint Velvet. if you like grey Smile

BelligerentGhoul · 26/10/2010 14:09

Warehouse has gone downhill too - it used to have lots of nice dresses. Oasis getting worse and worse imho. Mint Velvet has some nice things.

I wouldn't be seen dead (or alive) in anything from Fat Face.

Gap have occasional nice dresses and skirts but you have to search amongst a lot of dross. Most of their tops lack shape and thus make me look fatter than I am.

BikeRunScream · 26/10/2010 14:15
