My makeup bag is empty - help me fill it up again

Oh dear what a sad state of affairs, I have just audited my makeup bag and now I have nothing left in it apart from one bobbi brown lipstick.

I need to hit the shops with a list of must have items but with so much to choose from I know I'd come back with nothing or a load of stuff I'd never use.

Anyone want to help me build it back up again with must have items? I have about 200.00 to spend and would like also a new cleansing routine as well?

Not much to ask I know but would appreciate any help?

What's your must have item, product, make?

My must-haves are Clarins Beauty Flash Balm and Mac Shale eyeshadow.

BelligerentGhoul · 24/10/2010 18:56

Oh and I like Urban Decay Sin and Mildew eyeshadows too.

Chanel Vital Lumiere foundation.

Laura Mercier Primer.

Nars Blush in Orgasm.

Eye drops!

takingchances · 24/10/2010 19:19

Laura Mercier primer
Benefit highbeam to highlight cheekbones, browbones etc
Benefit big beautiful eyes which contains all the colours you will need plus a brow definer
Chantecaille mascara - this is the best mascara I have ever tried and now all of my friends are converts

TubbyDuffs · 24/10/2010 19:26

I love this thread. I am in a very similar situation to the OP, although two DSs have more than contributed to my makeup bag's downfall!

I have been meaning to go out and just ask at one of the stores, like Bobbi Brown or Mac, for some advice and maybe a bit of a makeover, as I've probably been doing my makeup the same for the past twenty years!

I had to go out and buy a lipstick when I was going on a girly night out, as I didn't even own one!

If anyone has the Sunday Telegraph the Stella magazine is all about 'beauty' today.

Stylelostinlabour · 24/10/2010 19:29

Eye Drops? What type do you use?

Wow thanks - I'm already building my list...

Laura Mercier Primer
Chanel Vital Lumiere Foundation
Nars Blush
Chantecaille Mascara
Highbeam

Do you think I need beauty flash as well as High Beam?

rubyslippers · 24/10/2010 19:31

Jurlique balancing foaming cleanser - amazing

traceybath · 24/10/2010 19:33

Dior Show mascara is fab.
Bobbie Brown pot of cream blusher.
By terry lip balm - in fact anything by terry - £££ but lovely.

hf128219 · 24/10/2010 19:51

Sorry it's Chanel Vitalumiere. Same thing really!

Mac Strobe Cream can be mixed with foundation.

Will check the eyedrops!

BelligerentGhoul · 24/10/2010 19:54

I think High Beam is different to BFB. BFB used under foundation, or mixed with foundation to sort of firm up the face!

TwistAndShout · 24/10/2010 19:56

YSL Touche Eclat

Cleansing - definitely, definitely go for Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish! (The whole range is fantastic)

Stylelostinlabour · 24/10/2010 20:49

Oh right I see now High Beam is more of blusher type product.

Right will add both to list.

TAS - Oh I forgot about Liz Earle had a sample Cleanse and Polish once, it was fab for my skin - will google North west stockist.

Don't get a fright when you see High Beam. It looks like nail varnish, it's a sparkly liquid. It works a treat, just try some in the shop and you'll see. Best of luck, hope the shopping is GREAT FUN!

Havingkittens · 25/10/2010 00:15

BFB is not recommended for daily use BTW

Boostini · 25/10/2010 08:30

You can get Liz Earle on QVC Shopping channel ( Channel 640 on Sky) and in John Lewis.

Nars Blusher in Orgasm is the best blusher ever !!

I am a total make up junkie so I have far too many must have products ! MAC bronzer is good too - very natural looking.

Havingkittens · 25/10/2010 09:05

If you find the Vitalumiere Foundation too Yellowy, which it can be on some people, the new Lancome foundation "Teint Miracle" is beautiful, as is the Dior "Nude". If you like more coverage Lancome's "Teint Idole Ultra" is also fantastic and perfect for oily skin.

Stylelostinlabour · 25/10/2010 10:10

HK - Thanks for the advice at least I know which ones to go and look into when i hit John Lewis next week, can't wait as have list now of my must have buys.

Which Liz Earle products does anyone recommend?

OP posts:
Angelinamaguire · 25/10/2010 10:55

NARS bronzer!! in casino colour - suits everyone!!! or maybe the playstick foundaiton by benefit casue it gives u quite a natural effect....tho it does go down a bit quick!

HouseOfBamboo · 25/10/2010 11:04

Mac lipstick, foundation and eye shadow. Get advice from their staff on products and colours, they generally seem to know their stuff.

Or Chanel Vitalumiere foundation - can recommend that too.

Do OCM oil cleansing - save a packet on cleanser and moisturiser (to spend on something else Wink ) and have glowing zit free skin!

BelligerentGhoul · 25/10/2010 20:31

John Lewis stock Liz earle now, or the one on Oxford Street does anyway. Liz Earle wasn't good for me - such a shame as I love the smell so much.

gorehaginhellsbum · 25/10/2010 20:40

I've only ever used Liz Earle cleanse and polish which was very good and the hand cream.

YSL teint parfait or L'Oreal primer.

BB moisture balm foundation stuff in the jar. BB concealer for heavy duty or Elizabeth Arden sheerlight pen for everyday concealer.
Clarins Instant lift to mix with foundation or the new Lancome Teint Idol is quite illuminatingHmm

Urban decay 24/7 or MAC eyeliners.

Max Factor masterpiece mascara.

TwistAndShout · 25/10/2010 22:04

Liz Earle - I love Cleanse and Polish, foolowed by Instant Boost Skin Tonic. All moisturisers are good but their superbalm is fabulous for nighttime moisturising.

I've also just started using their shampoo and conditioner and been really impressed how shiny it leaves my (highlighted)hair.

TwistAndShout · 25/10/2010 22:05

(By Superbalm, I meant the Superbalm Concentrate!)

Rannaldini · 25/10/2010 22:31

right vitalumiere cream has been discontinued
apparently dior nude is the new true holy grail

i love chantecaille foundation, future skin i think

estee lauder double wear eyeliner v good

ysl false lash mascara

mac blusher
mac shader
mac concealer
