I've been looking for knee length boots with wide calves for everyday use and have found these. these

They are a little pricey at £325, but I'm kind of working on the principle I won't need to buy any others ever!

What do you think?

Hmm. They look like lumpen wellies

Sorry. Have you tried Duo?

Lotofdamnationandhellfire · 24/10/2010 14:59

That's kind of the look I'm going for. I want boots can wear everyday. Live in middle of countryside. Everywhere is muddy, could also wear them with a skirt to dress them up a bit?

very cuntry

you could get cheaper methinks

summery · 24/10/2010 15:00

Sorry really don't like them. A second vote for Duo which are at least half the price of these.

brimfull · 24/10/2010 15:01

toggi boots cheaper

Tortington · 24/10/2010 15:02

they are more that y first car cost. infact i would go as far as to say that the price of these boots is obcene

fatsatsuma · 24/10/2010 15:03

It depends what you want the boots for. Dubarry are brilliant outdoor waterproof, weatherproof boots. If you get them muddy you can rinse them off under the tap. They are like a leather welly. But as you've spotted they are very £££! I'm always looking out for a cheaper alternative as I'd love some but can't justify the cost.

They are quite different from Duo which altho' leather would not be fully waterproof. Depends if you need the waterproof robustness. If not Duo come in different calf widths and people on here rave about them.

MrsRhettKilledTheButler · 24/10/2010 15:03

those toggis are more or less the same... i would go for them personally

in fact i think the toggis are nicer :)

brimfull · 24/10/2010 15:04

timberland also quite wide in calf

MrsRhettKilledTheButler · 24/10/2010 15:05

they are the same price i paid for my current car custardo! Grin

Lotofdamnationandhellfire · 24/10/2010 15:51

I do need the waterproofness of them. I've looked at duo boots and seen the rave reviews but am always drawn back to the fact that in the crappy weather really need some sort of alternative to take the children to school in. We live at the end of a very muddy bridleway so want something that would be ok in country and town.

Just cannot get over the price! Am certain you'd get a small island for them! However I'm not one for buying things just for them to make do. I want to wear them year in and year out. I bought a pair of mid calf boots from Hobbs that were £180 5 years ago and have worn them every winter, they were a great investment and I will continue to wear them. Am going to look at the Toggi's, thank you for the suggesstions!

Now I like the Toggi ones, would feel much better about buying some of those! Wonder where I could try some on?

OnEdge · 24/10/2010 16:37

Lotofdamnationandhellfire · 24/10/2010 16:40

Like the Tuffa ones too. Think we are going to spend most of half term scouring the countryside for country horsey shops! dc's are going to love me! Shop we went into was so chilled even let us take the dog!

OnEdge · 24/10/2010 16:41

if i saw you wearing them, i would presume you owned a stud farm in cambridgeshire and were born with a natural seat darling !!!!

get em get em get em !!!!

TethHearseEnd · 24/10/2010 16:50

Press the fuck it button

cowboylover · 24/10/2010 16:55

WOW those boos are gorge Teth!

I usually say if you want them that much and can make some savings on other things you would normally spend on do it and buy the ones you love! Or like me you may end up with 2nd best wishing you had what you wanted in the first place when your replacing them next winter Grin

Lotofdamnationandhellfire · 24/10/2010 17:14

Compared to those boots teth, the ones I liked are almost cost effective Grin. (Well nearly!)

Cowboylover - I bought some a couple of weeks ago from ebay for £16, they were nothing like those but I kind of thought they would do. The local charity shop is now a pair of boots better off. Am not sure what to do.

webminx · 24/10/2010 17:17

Try geox - some really good everyday, weatherproof boots every winter. Bought some 2 years ago and they're still going strong. About the £100 mark usually...

TubbyDuffs · 24/10/2010 17:19

OP price aside, they are pretty hideous, sorry.

HalloweeseG · 24/10/2010 17:21

I really like the DuBarry boots, i want need a pair of boots that are waterproof and dog walking proof but are not gumboots.

happybubblebrain · 24/10/2010 17:21

£325 for a pair of boots that are going to get covered in mud???? Either you are very rich, or completely mad. If they're going to get filthy it doesn't matter what they look like, go to Oxfam or wear wellies.

Lotofdamnationandhellfire · 24/10/2010 17:23

Not just covered in mud, I would keep them nice and shiney too.
