I've been looking for knee length boots with wide calves for everyday use and have found these. these

They are a little pricey at £325, but I'm kind of working on the principle I won't need to buy any others ever!

What do you think?

these do the same job for slightly less

Lotofdamnationandhellfire · 24/10/2010 18:12

HalloweeseG - They're nice but are sailing ones not quite what I was looking for.

Jesus wept.

That's 3 months worth of food shopping. 3 months.

Are they edible?

Tethers, yours are nearly 7 months worth of food. I like the 'purchasing instructions' but they're factually incorrect. I need not measure my calf nor click on a grid. I need to sell my pfb and/or a kidney. 695 quid? I'd want them made of unicorn hide and capable of granting wishes.

HalloweeseG · 24/10/2010 18:26

I really like these too

Lotofdamnationandhellfire · 24/10/2010 18:37

HalloweeseG - they are lovely, not sure they'd fit round my calves treetrunks though.

Think I may be inclined to get these half price of the original ones

They look nice HalloweeseG but think not clumpy/outdoorsy enough 4 OP. I live in the country too & Dubarry boots are the beesknees, am quite Envy when I see people wearing them. The toggi ones look good & much more reasonable, wonder if they're as hardwearing?

arfasleep · 24/10/2010 18:39

They do look good Lotofdamn

ValiumSkeleton · 24/10/2010 18:40

Are you The Queen or Princess Anne? if so, and you are out and about walking miles every day.. then possibly a good investment. But if not, crazy money for a pair of sensible boots.

a discussion about the relative merits and alternatives to DuBarry

Go for the ones you like, you'll only regret it if you don't.

Pink10 · 24/10/2010 18:53

They're gorgeous and an investment! I've recently invested in a pair of Dubarry Galway boots (I've coveted a pair for years and always notice a pair on someone else which made me Envy

HalloweeseG- Really helpful thank you. She went for the Tuffa Suffolk.

I've just put a pair on my birthday list, just to be safe.

Lotofdamnationandhellfire · 24/10/2010 19:06

Will cross my fingers for you HalloweeseG

I found the Toggi boots very small on the calf, went for dublin river boots which are so comfy.

Lotofdamnationandhellfire · 25/10/2010 18:51

They are lovely!

Lotofdamnationandhellfire · 26/10/2010 18:44

The boots I ordered (Tuffa Suffolk) were delivered and too small, they sent the wrong size, the twonks. I've sent them back parcelforce and hopefully they'll send the ones I ordered asap!!! However, they did look lovely even if too small!

Oops, thats prob with buying online. I am very tempted by this thread to get some similar boots for christmas, but would prob prefer to go to shop & try on (my feet are quite awkward, am not standard size, depends on make).
I don't have a horse though or go riding, will i look silly?? Confused Have been looking at boots online from all types of shops & nothing looks as sturdy or waterproof.

3thumbedwitch · 27/10/2010 11:29

I like the Toggi ones much better than your original choice, OP, sorry!

Tethers - your site is depressingly gorgeously expensive...

Butterbur · 27/10/2010 13:50

Those fuck it ones are very Legolas. Love them!

higgle · 27/10/2010 16:24

merrell oslo waterproof, leather £130, lovely. There are some other nice Merrell boots on that site too, with lace up fronts.

ninah · 27/10/2010 16:29

i like the tuffas, but just bought a pair of leather flat lace front boots from takky max for £49 (half price), really soft leather well made and great looking
only one pair of them though

sonnyday · 27/10/2010 16:50

Have a look for the same pair on ebay!

EnSuiteShed · 27/10/2010 17:09

The original boots you linked to are vile. IMO.

£300 odd for a pair of vile boots is madness.

Why not just get a pair of Hunter wellies?

Oh and please don't wear them with a skirt Shock.
