boots for large calves

I want some gorgeous boots to wear with little dresses and black tights. My calves are quite chunky though, can anyone recommend some really cool boots, no offence but please dont suggest Evans or Simply Be!
I've wondered as well about Ugg boots, do they go over chunky calves?

Thanks

Woahthere I can sympathise, I too have really chunky calves and can never get high boots. Check out Duoboots.com. They sell boots in much wider calf sizes and they have a great selection.

With regards to Ugg boots I did try leather ones on once and they were a bit tight Blush. Roll on the summer so we can all get back into our flitflops

Was just going to mention Evans - my sister in law has to get boots from there - rave abouyt them for heavy calves.

woahthere · 22/10/2010 22:16

yeah, but then people say...wow, fierce boots and you have to say yeah from Evans...

duoboots, thebootmakers.com

Evans have got 20% of boots at the moment though and there are some pretty good ones too, just be vague and say you bought them online. Grin

I have some love from Australia uggs and they fit well on my chunky calves.

Katisha · 23/10/2010 08:38

Redoute have diferent calf widths. I had to send some back for being too wide, which was a first...

PlumSykes · 23/10/2010 08:46

I have these, they are very wide, and also adjust as they have the buckles.

TheBolter · 23/10/2010 08:48

Duo are apparently what you need!

muddleduck · 23/10/2010 18:37

Viva la diva are fab.

phipps · 23/10/2010 18:40

I want some completely flat knee high boots but they don't seem to eggggggggsist. I can't work out how to spell it!!

I also have fat calves.

PlumSykes · 23/10/2010 20:01

this brand seem to have a selection of calf fittings, and some not altogether hideous styles.

BibiThree · 23/10/2010 20:09

Duo are amazing, well worth the money.
The only thing I found with Evans boots is that they are also v wide in the foot and ankle, which give a Nora Batty effect if you have huge calves and tiny ankles like me Grin

EauRouge · 23/10/2010 20:14

I love love love my Duo boots, very well made and great customer service.

Roastchicken · 23/10/2010 20:20

I found some wider-fitting ones in Jones the Bootmaker. Reasonably stylish too. A relief after the humiliation of not fitting into any pair in several stores as my calves were too large.

Flat knee high boots

kuckingfunt · 23/10/2010 20:43

I bought some from Dune that are good for my calves. I haven't got huge calves but some boots I struggle with.

I have Uggs and they are fine on me, worth trying some on.

woahthere · 23/10/2010 21:00

Thank you so much for all the links and suggestions guys... I went into town today to get boots, there are nice ones about but WOW boots are expensive! I chickened out and came home!

Just hijacking (sorry!)

Do Dr Martens come up wide? I want these -Elena- but am not sure if they would be generous enough.

I am desperate for warm comfy boots and a warm comfy coat before it gets cold Grin

HowsTheSerenity · 23/10/2010 21:46

I have a 48cm calf - I just measured as I want new boots. I cannot fit into ANY from M&S or Clarks.
I sent the Laredoute ones back as they were skin tight and cutting off the circulation to my feet.
Evans fit but they are plasticy and not all that well made.
I love my duo ones. Expensive but will last for years.

MmeOrangeBlackandBlueberry · 23/10/2010 21:48

Find an independent shoe shop.

I was in Edinburgh recently, and next to my hotel was a boot shop that sold boots in 11 different widths. It was on Castle Street if that is any help.

sapphireblwhooooo · 23/10/2010 22:15

I need Duo boots! This is why I love MN Smile

If my calf measures 48cm do I need to add a bit on to account for jeans/leggings being tucked in do you think?

HowsTheSerenity · 23/10/2010 22:20

I do not tuck in my jeans. You can only tuck skinny jeans in and I would like like an overstuffed sausage in skinnies I think.

I have room for leggings and legwarmers in mine.

phipps · 23/10/2010 22:33

Thank you BRS.
