Would you pay £100 for a cardigan- this one?

Pure Collection cashmere. it's boyfriend length, with 2 front pockets, and a V neck.

I am not sure about the style- will it date?

I would buy the V neck cardi but I really feel the cold and love the idea of a cardi that really covers my bum.

Have a 25% discount voucher so would be £100.

Is it this one?
If so, very nice and I don't think it will date.

HecateQueenOfWitches · 17/10/2010 17:21

no.

£100 for an item of clothing? sod that!

purplepeony · 17/10/2010 17:21

yes- in grey like that.

I am always worried about buying "classic" that might date.
I would want a good 2-3 years wear at least for that price and I looooooove cashmere. I have a couple of Boden sweaters- cash- that have washed really well and a couple of cropped cardis, but they are not warm enough ( cardis.) in winter.

I wear all my clothes a lot- I don't really do work/casual as work is casual, so would wear this a lot and could even layer it over some tunics I have.

Definitely. Pure Collection clothes are extremely good quality and that style looks lovely.

ib · 17/10/2010 17:46

Yes I would, If I hadn't already got far too many cashmeres.

You can't go wrong with cashmere imo.

vespasian · 17/10/2010 17:48

Yes I would

purplepeony · 17/10/2010 17:49

ooooooooh...where's my card?
it's not old womanish then? ( cos i am an old woman!)
Better than just a normal length cardi?

OP posts:
ib · 17/10/2010 17:56

Not old womanish, it's lovely! Sooo tempted......

Will bookmark for when it's on sale Wink

purplepeony · 17/10/2010 18:01

Okay- clicked and bought....

feel very self-indulgent.

If anyone wants the 25% code it is

WMT2.

reviews say size down if anyone is looking.

Cashmere doesn't shrink if you wash it properly. I am a bit of a cashmere fan and have loads of cardys/jumpers, some are getting quite 'vintage' now!
Mind you it does surprise me that I don't really bat an eye at paying £100+ for a cardy!Blush

purplepeony · 17/10/2010 18:08

I am justifying it in that I will happily pay £50 for something very ordinary at White Stuff.

I have had my Boden cashmere now for the 3rd season- bought both bits in their sale at bargain prices- one was £37. They have washed like a dream. Cool wool/delicates temp.30 setting on machine.

Tis lovely and would be toasty warm and you should get it. I paid £98 for a Jigsaw cardi with silk bustle this summer and it is one of the best things in my wardrobe. Stand up for humble cardis!

purplepeony · 17/10/2010 18:30

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOh I know the silk bustle one you meant- it was lovely!

stressheaderic · 17/10/2010 18:35

I paid £100 for a car once.

Timbachick · 17/10/2010 18:42

Yes, I would pay £100 for a cardi, especially one as lovely as that one.

It will not date and will, with care at wash time, last ages and look fab.

I have, far too frequently, spent these types of amounts on single items of clothes and have rarely been disappointed.

Now, have to hope that DH doesn't see this and work out that his DW obviously has a severe cashmere habit .... Grin

happilyeverafter · 17/10/2010 19:32

I would pay it for a classic piece that would work with lots of outfits.

Cardis in good fibres and plain colours are brill investments, the jigsaw one sounds lush - any links?

Bunbaker · 17/10/2010 20:28

No
£100 for a cardigan is way too much for my budget, especially one that will need handwashing.
I obviously move in very different circles from a lot of MNers. I don't know anyone in real life who buys from Boden either.

happilyeverafter · 17/10/2010 20:31

bunbaker

Perhaps in rl nobody does buy boden and it's an elaborate mn hoax...

purplepeony · 17/10/2010 20:42

Bun- I don't know anyone who doesn't buy from Boden!
But only when they have 20% off.
My best friend buys Armani and Max Mara.In comparison I am Eliza Doolittle!

Cashmere is not handwash- I have a great washing machine that has all sorts of snazzy programs- and it does a handwash, cold wash for wool or silk- you name it, it does it.

I don't know anyone who buys from Boden either.

But if I had more disposable income, I bloody would!

southeastastralbeing · 17/10/2010 20:44

no have similar from tesco for a tenner

the reviews on boden put me off, they're always from 60 year olds

PavlovtheWitchesCat · 17/10/2010 20:47

never in a million years. £100 for a cardigan is obscene.

Whelk · 17/10/2010 20:49

I think the long line length will date tbh. Boyfriend length is already looking a bit tired I think.

However, it depends on your body shape. If its good shape for your body shape then you are more likely to continue to wear it.

Millie1 · 17/10/2010 21:02

It's lovely Purple ... enjoy wearing it!
