Are you bothered what you wear to drop off/pick up from school/nursery?

So, we are into week 2 of play school.
Today i wore my best "fat pants" otherwise known as "action slacks" to drop ds off and pick him up.
Today i have had a huge cleaning fest with him out of the way for 2.5 hours only, so am wearing my scruffs.
Im not bothered, hair tied back, tatty t.shirt and trainers.
HOWEVER, all the other mums are a bit fancy, tutty on and summer clothes.....is this the rule that no one has told me about? Am i supposed to look like this?
Will i be banished from the circle that is the play school posh totty?

Ive been happily scrubbing every thing in sight, i only have 2.5 hours!

Should i make an effort....because quite frankly i cant be bothered.......just noticed bleach all over the leg of my best fat pant...oh bugger...

AM A TRAMP!

These people i shall be seeing week in and week out over the next 2 years so i shall show them my full wardrobe which may occassionally comprise of tat, but mostly will be some~what acceptable and tidy.
I shall not be wearing makeup because i never do.

There.

i dress as i feel comfortable although i imagine that some of the parents in the playground think that it is a competition for best dressed mum at 8.40am.
Beleive you me, they look at you with those eyes up and down to see if you meet their criteria.
I have enough problems getting the kids ready let alone myself!!!!!!

Did you know there is a website called pantsonhead ?

iota · 12/09/2005 13:58

there's quite a range of style types at ds1's school

  • some in uniform (nurse, police, shop)
  • some in jodhpurs and stray bits of straw
  • some in business suits
  • some in gym clothes
  • some fashion victims still wearing white gypsy skirts and circle belts
  • some wearing jeans an T shirts

I'm sure there's more......
