Help me not love this coat

Hobbs here

I haven't go the money to buy it but now I've seen it I don't want anything else. In fact, even if I did have the money I'm not sure I'd buy it as I've just had a baby so will lose lots of weight (ahem).

I love it. Help me not love it. Or find me something else to love. Please.

The OPs coat looks like an old cardigan.

The All Saints one is even worse and looks like the sort of thing you can buy down the local market.

latrucha · 15/10/2010 17:12

I still like it.

I mean, if you're looking for a grey wool winter coat, it's fab. And I am.

Oh the Westwood coat is gorgeous Grin

Has anyone looked at the new Jil Sander range for Uniglo? Sorry, can't do links, am a dinosaur. Really great coat in there.

Op, if I love something like the coat, I keep the pic as my screensaver, it's amazing how quickly my eyes tire of it, saving me making a large buying error. Worth a try. Or have a look for the 20% off codes for Hobbs, usually loads online.

This is what you need

perfumedlife · 15/10/2010 17:56

Oh those liberty tweeds are stunning. I want one of those.

Frrrrightattendant · 15/10/2010 18:03

Oh wow.

I do happen to have a red liberty mackintosh. It was on ebay, unworn...50 quid.

I feel undeserving, it hangs there looking at me and I look at it, and it knows, and I know, that even it can never make me look groomed.

4plus1 · 15/10/2010 18:04

Beautiful, elegant and donegal tweed is timeless. You will get many years out of this and it will not date.

latrucha · 15/10/2010 18:09

4plus1 - now, that's not playing fair! I MAY get thin again, you know.

hf - totally beyond me but lovely. They need a much taller model for that lomg coat though.

Ah but livingbtriver - is the tum not worse without a belt?

Lotkinsgonecurly · 15/10/2010 18:12

I so want one of those hand made coats ! How much are they!!!

Lotster · 15/10/2010 18:24

Similar for £80 for the size you are now? Then invest when you return to normal!

KristinaM · 15/10/2010 18:25

That Hobbs coat is expensive, frumpy, a boring colour and will make you look like a sack of spuds tied in the middle

When it gets wet you will smell like a wet dog

How's that?

cruelladepoppins · 15/10/2010 18:55

It looks like not just like a dressing-gown, as other posters say, but the kind of dressing-gown a middle-aged man would wear who had no heating in his house, and yellowing horny toenails ... And he feeds his cat tinned food straight onto a sheet of newspaper. And he has mouse footprints on the congealed lard in the fryingpan sitting unwashed on his cooker. And he doesn't eat breakfast because he can't be arsed to do the shopping. All he has in his fridge is cans of McEwan's Export ... how am I doing?

latrucha · 15/10/2010 18:56

Lotser - I tried it! It's a really odd shapr on me

Kristina - not bad.

Would those of you who hate it hate all greywinter wool coats though?

OP posts:
Lotster · 15/10/2010 18:58

Aha! So not miles off then, will keep looking!

latrucha · 15/10/2010 19:00

thanks

Have you look at the Esprit website? There are a few nice coats on there.

Lotster · 15/10/2010 19:09

Kookai at ASOS

latrucha · 15/10/2010 19:12

ooo

OP posts:
ragged · 15/10/2010 19:15

I've only looked at the coat in OP but I honestly think it's hideous... so impractical.

latrucha · 15/10/2010 19:15

why impractical?

Clarkiee · 15/10/2010 19:22

love it cruelladepoppins next time I'm tempted to buy something unecessary I'll think of the crusty cat owner!
