Anyone with small feet ever buy children's shoes?

Some of the Startrite boots are lovely, and cheap because you pay no tax on kids footwear.

these come in up to 5 and a half.
DD has them in brown and they're lovely boots.

I have done so - children's Fit Flops this summer. My adult Walkstars were more comfy. Seems like there is more 'padding'. Thought the same when (in a fit of bargain-sale madness) I bought some mini Boden boots. Never worn them - they fit but feel thin when I walk.

largeginandbloodpunch · 14/10/2010 21:20

All the time.

Hulababy · 14/10/2010 21:21

I have a size 3 but many adult size 3 are too big. Children's size 3 tend to be a bit smaller IME.

I bought children's FitFlops this summer - saved about £30 doing so. I also bought some flat childrn's sandels tht I liked.

Hulababy · 14/10/2010 21:22

sandals even

GrimmaTheNome · 14/10/2010 21:24

I've got a couple of pairs of cheap asda thong-type sandals from the girls rack (size 4) - pretty and they've lasted suprisingly well.

HeadlessLadyBiscuit · 14/10/2010 21:26

Of course! I get most of my flat shoes from the children's department (trainers, converse, ballet pumps). Why pay more? :)

MuGGGhoulWump · 14/10/2010 21:27

Yep, I check the kids first because they are cheaper.
I'm 2-3.
My black Converse were only £17 because they were kids.

donnie · 14/10/2010 21:28

I do. One of the perks of being a little person! I'm a 4.5 but most children's ranges go up to a 5 or larger.

MuGGGhoulWump · 14/10/2010 21:34

Actually apart from bra and jeans, everything I'm wearing today is kids, and the socks are DD's as we wear the same size!
I sent her to school in a pair of my pants once as they were so alike Blush

Littlepumpkinpie · 15/10/2010 10:53

I am a size 2 and often buy from kids section as I do find I have no choice really. Having a nightmare trying to find some nice knee length leather boots atm. I really do not want to spend £200 on a pair that I have seen and I only want leather not man made junk.

I'm a five so not particularly small, and I have done this, but I always regretted it. the shoes felt a bit too round-toed or a bit flatter than I wanted them to be.... they were never quite right.

switchtvoffdosomelessboring · 15/10/2010 12:44

Nexts childrens shoes now go up to a size 8 now!

sharbie · 15/10/2010 12:46

I was just going to say Next - I had a pair of boys sandals (sizes bigger) a few years ago. They were like clarks nubuck/birkie style but about 1/3 of price.I am a 6.

sharbie · 15/10/2010 12:48

Lovely girls boots on next online.and I don't mean the pink fluffy ones.

gorehaginhellsbum · 15/10/2010 12:50

I've bought Boden boots before and had to send them back as they were very thin soled. I wouldn't want my DDs to wear them (think this is a brand thing though).

I would definitely buy some if I found anything I actually liked.

StarExpat · 15/10/2010 12:57

I'm a 4.5 and this is a great idea! What a money saver. I wonder if someone will come along and say there is something "not right" about it....

larakitten · 15/10/2010 12:57

The boots im wearing today are from Next....kids range! I take a 6, and only recently discovered that their kids shoes go up to a 7 or an 8 I think!!! Lovely leather "work" style boots to tuck my skinny jeans into......whilst wearing a smug grin that I paid no VAT!!!!

FrameyMcFrame · 15/10/2010 13:55

Well I can vouch for the startrite boots I linked to being great. Every time DD wears them I wish I had some like that!
They're good quality too.
The only problem is I might look a bit sad strange wearing identical boots to DD!

Not at all, Framey :) I would do it!

blushingm · 15/10/2010 17:18

i do it all the time - i've quite narrow feet so they tend to fit better...............dh is jealous

nemofish · 15/10/2010 21:41

I have bought myself quite a lot of children's clothes and boots etc recently. As long as you steer clear of the pink fluffy jumpers with a cuddly wuddly kitten on, you'll be ok!

StarExpat · 15/10/2010 22:14

OH! Clothes, too! This is brilliant!

susitwoshoes · 15/10/2010 22:17

I bought children's walking boots from Ellis Brigham and they were really unhappy about it, which is why I've never bought anything from them again Grin
