Ugg Kensingtons or Kurt Geiger Sadlers, or some other biker/shearling boot?

DP and I are insanely broke, but my mother has finally got sick of seeing me in the same pair of (broken, leaky) black biker boots I've been wearing for (ahem) 8 years and offered to buy me a decent new pair. I like these uggs and KG boots, although I've only seen the Ugg ones in real life.

So, (a) are Ugg boots decent quality? (I'm fairly confident in KG, had a pair of shoes from them once). Don't want boots that will die after a season or two. (b) are there any nice cheaper similar boots out there that you can think of and (c) will I look like a twat wearing those with leggins/opaques and maternity tunics/jumper dresses? (Am pregnant, not just fat Grin)

I really need black as well (or grey), but in my desperation for the perfect pair of biker boots, am contemplating brown or tan. If you find a decent black pair, shout!

I picked up my sadlers yesterday - they are really lovely and cosy and look fab. Lots of compliments on them already.

I am wearing mine with leggings/opaques due to pregnancy. Was probably the only person cursing the glorious weather today as I was desperate to wear them with opaques!

katy mine are black BTW

pigindisguise · 08/10/2010 19:51

prefer the KGs too

geordieminx · 08/10/2010 19:53

The kg ones are lovely, but I know what you men snout black being a beer bet.

Saw the ugg ones last week, the look a bit.... Weird? The sole is a lot bigger than the actual shoe if that makes sense?

I know there were black sadlers, but I think they've sold out or something, as I can't find them anywhere!

Ooh, those look quite nice mamateur - the elastic bit is a bit zany, but I tend to like all brora things I buy.

Oh bugger, they only go up to a 41. Am usually 42 Sad

Wish I'd ordered the sadlers while I had the chance!

Double bugger - the uggs do have an enormous sole geordie - it's hard to tell on the picture of the black ones, but on the pale colour it's v obvious.

I own a pair of Kensingtons and lovethem so am biased but I do prefer them to the KGs. It depends on your own personal style. The KG's are a bit more 'girly' and I am most def more of a tomboy. My one word of advice is if you need to be getting your boots on and off quickly, don't gofor the Kensingtons as they are notoriously diff to get on and off!

Hopefully · 08/10/2010 20:15

OK, are these Caterpillar boots in black weird? I seem to remember wanting a pair almost exactly like this about 10 years ago, which means I am (a) eternally stylish or (b) eternally unstylish Grin

Sorry Hopeully, they are yuk!

nancydrewrocked · 08/10/2010 20:16

I ordered my black sadlers from house of fraser a couple of weeks ago - went into the store in person and they did it for me.

At that time they told me that they had about 60 pairs in stock in my size. They don't appear to stock them on their website.

Hopefully · 08/10/2010 20:20

fair enough saucy Grin

There's a (small) house of fraser down the road, maybe I'll pop in tomorrow morning and see if they can order the sadlers.

Or maybe I'm never going to find nice boots and am going to have another winter of trenchfoot in my ancient Office boots.

Love the Kurt Geigers - especially the furry bit round the top, and also they look like they'd be more of a snug fit round the legs. The Uggs look a bit baggy - not too keen on them.

verytellytubby · 08/10/2010 20:32

DH said I could have the Ugg Kensington's. I tried them on yesterday. They looked awful on me! I felt like I had clown shoes on if you know what I mean. Clumpy. The KG ones look lovely.

MrsC2010 · 08/10/2010 20:40

I love these...little over my budget though!

Holymoly321 · 08/10/2010 20:44

Pussy, have to disagree with you re the Kensingtons, I have very skinny legs - most boots are a no no for me as they look like wellies, but the Uggs are a perfect fit!

Hopefully · 08/10/2010 20:50

MrsC the Ash ones are nice, but while I really quite like studs/metal buckle holes on other people's boots, I cannot cope with lots of them on my own feet! No idea why Hmm

I am now debating the KG vernon after someone suggested them higher up. I have remembered the amazing warmth that pregnancy induces in me, and wondering whether sheepskin lining really is such a fantastic idea.

It's not that I'm trying to talk myself out of some boots that I can't find, honest...

Wonder if they'll have the Vernons in JL in Southampton, i'm passing there tomorrow.

I really like the kg ones best of all the links here, they are lovely.
