Can you please recommend your mascara?

Because I am having a mascara crisis.

Have used YSL for the last couple of years but am so sick of it going claggy after 3 months, I begrudge paying £20 for a mascara that lasts 3 months.

So I bought a rimmel cheapy last time which I hate because to get any lash at all you have to trowel it on and then I end up with another set of lashed printed just under my eyebrow Hmm

When I bought my chanel foundation they tried one on me there which was quite nice but no idea what it was.

Please tell me what you use and how great it is Grin

I use blinc (after reading a recommendation for it) I love it as it washes of easy and never ever runs / leaves marks etc. You buy it online and can get a sample from them for £2.50 to try it. (They then offer you that price off a full sized one if you buy it) It does cost around £20 but its one of the few i have used that dont run (used to love YLS as well)

MadreInglese · 06/10/2010 13:48

I have L'Oreal Collagene Extra Volume Waterproof and love it, I think it's about a tenner (had a similar panda eye experience to you with some maybelline shite)

Don't you need to change them every three months or so anyway for hygiene reasons?

WowOoo · 06/10/2010 13:51

Chanel lengthening one is nice. Will go back to very natural looking but still good Clarins one after it though and don't know how long it will last as yet.

Chanel slightly clogs up. Find the Clarins best of the bunch I've tried.

moragbellingham · 06/10/2010 13:51

I use Max Factor masterpiece waterproof and keep going back to it after trying everything else.

I have used Blinc too and if I could be bothered to actually order it online (instead of buying MF on 3 for 2 offer at Boots) I would.
It gives lovely definition and never ever smudges off.

FakePlasticTrees · 06/10/2010 13:53

I use the chanel inimitable (think that's what it's called) as got sick of the clumpy look too.

kateecass · 06/10/2010 13:54

Another one for Blinc. Lasts forever, well worth the money. It comes in a screw top case as well to help it last longer. MIne is over a year old. Can wear it in the rain without worrying!

smokinaces · 06/10/2010 13:57

I use Maxfactor - either Masterpiece Max or 2000 calorie depending on my budget. Nothing else comes close IMO

Shhhh · 06/10/2010 14:01

but is it really hygenic to have a mascara longer than 3 months..?

I use YSL false lash effect and love it, yes I find eventually it does go clumpy but thats the time when I bin it and by a new one... I prefer to replace it every 2-3 months and I find its usually nearly/all gone by then....

WowOoo · 06/10/2010 14:40

I use my mascara til it runs out basically. But I do wipe the brush ocassionally..

HonestyBox · 06/10/2010 14:52

Another vote for Max Factor Masterpiece Max. I find I have to wipe loads off the brush as too much comes out but I can't recall a mascara I didn't have to do this with.

Another vote for Max Factor Masterpiece Max waterproof here. I've tried Lancome and Diorshow and just keep coming back to this one. For me, it has to be the waterproof one, though ? the regular one seems to 'weigh down' the curl when I curl my lashes.

Shhhh · 06/10/2010 16:34

jaja's no need for me to make it a marketing ploy, im only a customer ! BUT imo I would rather replace it after a few months use.

Mainly as its on your eye area so prone to dirt or bugs and also subject to air etc when opening/closing it.. only my opinion.

BUT then, as I said mine is usually gone by 3 months anyway !!

BornToFolk · 06/10/2010 16:40

Max Factor 2000 calorie for me. It goes on really nicely and doesn't smudge. And it doesn't clump.
I tend to replace when it smells a bit musty. Probably longer than 3 months but no more than 6.

mosschops30 · 07/10/2010 13:17

thanks for all these, am ogg to have a look at Blinc now Smile

L'Oreal Telescopic in carbon Black SO much better than my YSL one.

It has a great brush which gives definition but no clumps.

Granard · 07/10/2010 15:01

Another vote for Blinc and the lash primer is great too. You can really build up your lashes with that first and no clogging or spider-effect.

GeekOfTheWeek · 07/10/2010 18:39

L'Oreal Telescopic Lengths in Carbon Black.

Far superior to any others I have used including many lancome and clinique ones.

Ilovebagsandbruuuce · 07/10/2010 21:17

Chanel Inimitable waterproof is the holy grail - holds curled eyelashes very well and i have purchased this mascara twice now, each lasting me 6 months (and i apply it every day!). The only mascara I have bought more than once and i have tried many of the expensive brands.

Recommend if you are looking for mascara which holds the curl from eyelash curlers - found all others straightened them out as soon as it went on, seems to be too wet or something.

Hope that helps!

kildare34 · 07/10/2010 21:40

I love Chanel Inimitable as well. Does not clump lashes. I got it in a lovely purple colour but not too purple ifykwim Confused

purplepeony · 07/10/2010 21:56

I use Lancome Hypnose but would be interested to find a cheaper one as it's £20 and lasts 3 months.

FerminaUrbinoDaza · 07/10/2010 22:06

I prefer the L'Oreal Teloscopic stuff to the Lancome L'Extrême (which I preferred to the Lancome Hypnose). The Lancome ones only ever seem to last 3 months. Not exactly value for money.

Clairef29 · 07/10/2010 22:23

Hi all, yes 3 months is the time you should bin your mascara and get a fresh one, at the very most you should keep it 6 months...because we all have lash mites which sounds really horrid but whats worse it that we have approx 1000 per eye and when you apply mascara they transfer onto the brush and then go and live in the tube when you put the brush back in!!! So by keeping mascara for too long you are opening yourselves up to the risk of eye infections. And the cardinal sin??!! Sharing mascara with a friend!! As for my fave mascara...well that varies depending on the effect I want....easiest thing I've found?? Have thm tinted at a salon...last ages, no need to apply every morning and cheaper than most decent mascaras!! Try blue black, gives a gorgeous deep velvety look, I always get compliments when I've had mine done! Hope this helps Smile

BadPoet · 08/10/2010 13:48

Maybelline Great Lash, in waterproof black. It's meant to be a cult item but beauty bloggers don't seem to like it. I don't know why, it's cheap, and is the only mascara that doesn't clog on me, and I can apply more than 1 coat without spider lashes forming.

It's not massively lengthening or thickening, it just makes your lashes black (or dark brown Grin ) which is what I want from a mascara!

ihatethecold · 09/10/2010 11:09

WTF lash mites... thats a new one on me!
