Can you please recommend your mascara?

Because I am having a mascara crisis.

Have used YSL for the last couple of years but am so sick of it going claggy after 3 months, I begrudge paying £20 for a mascara that lasts 3 months.

So I bought a rimmel cheapy last time which I hate because to get any lash at all you have to trowel it on and then I end up with another set of lashed printed just under my eyebrow Hmm

When I bought my chanel foundation they tried one on me there which was quite nice but no idea what it was.

Please tell me what you use and how great it is Grin

I have used loads of expensive brands but always come back to Maybelline great lash too - I liek the fact that it has a normal "old fashoned" brush - I hate all the weird new spikey ones that for me make application even harder.

I use maybelline great lash too and have just discovered mally mascara from qvc. It looks clumpy on the brush but really makes my lashes look long. Infact whenever I wear it i get comments.

I use ysl (the gold one) but I went back to clinique due to the clumping

I've tried loads, but the best is also the cheapest! Collection 2000. Both their waterproof and normal mascaras are really good. The packaging isn't great - I've had the wand come away from the lid a few times, but they always replace it if you send it to their HQ. And at less than £3, I can afford a new one every 3 months!!

Clinique high impact curling mascara is the bees knees for me. It lasts through all kinds of weather and I've even rubbed my eyes and it doesn't come off. When you do want it to come off, you just use warm water and cotton wool.

I have tried allsorts and would recommend YSL everlong over their false lash effect mascara, diorshow by dior and hypnose by lancome are also very good but i actually rate Masterpiece by Max Factor above these as the style of brush always works perfectly and is very good value for money. Loreal voluminous is also an oldie but goodie if your're after a good strong black mascara thats well priced.

One of the worst ive tried by the way is also one of the most expensive, guerlain 2 in 1 horrendous, needed turps to get the bloody stuff off! Also estee lauder introduced one with a battery operated brush, turbolash i think it was calles, nearly £30 and total and utter shite quite frankly!

I will say that is all a bit objective really as i like mascaras that give dramatic effects and have a good strong brush with lots and lots of bristles and i know not everyone is going for the same effect so my recommendations are based on wanting a dramatic look and difference to my lashes!

Ronaldinhio · 09/10/2010 22:44

do you wipe the brush on the ysl?
i think it's best tbh

i bought the diorshow and i'm not wild about it it's ok but that's all
i thnk benefit and mac mascaras are rubbish tbh

Clinique Lash Power does the job for me and I'm a yawner whose eyes water and with this no smudging and also a contact lens wearer and no prob there!
Been using this current one everyday since Jan and its still going strong - oh and it has a nifty little brush that gets to all those little lashes in the corners.

CountessVonKnackerstein · 09/10/2010 22:50

I use Avon Supermagnify which coats every teeny lash and after that the Avon "flash something" mascara.

I love Benefit make-up in general but admit to hating Badgal - it's so thick and clumpy - horrible

Favourite ever is Clinique's Long Pretty Lashes- perfectly soft and smooth, never clumpy, get it in duty free for about £14

Currently using the new No7 one in the dark green tube - atm it comes with a free eyeshadow palette which is v nice ,and if you've got a £5 No7 voucher it's pretty good value - £7 I think? And it's a good product,so far.
