Happy to buy Ugg look-a-likes but where from?

i already have a pair so not too bothered about having the "real" thing 2nd time round.

However i'd quite like a black pair as my winter wardrobe is mosting leggings, layers, woollen dress/tunics, etc.
I spotted a very cheap pair in Tesco but didn't have time to check out the quality - but they did look very cheaply made.

Does anyone have a recommendation on where to buy from - i think my budget could stretch to £50 Grin

TIA

Sorry but I wouldn't bother buying fake ones, a number of fake ones tend to collapse and are very mad for supporting the feet etc so I'd hold off and save for a real pair.

LilQueenie · 02/10/2010 15:03

primark have them for £8

bundlebelly · 02/10/2010 15:09

I've got black ones from Sainsbury's. I think they were £8. Had to buy a size smaller than normal to fit which is wierd, but worn them everyday since and so comfy.

OhCobblers · 02/10/2010 15:09

Tootlesmummy : sorry my OP didn't read well.
i already have a pair of real Uggs which is why i don't mind buying a 2nd cheap pair for this season in black.
i really can't afford the real deal 2nd time round.

thanks LilQueenie for your suggesion.

any other suggestions apart from Primark?

thanks

i wouldn't buy fake uggs, they're truly terrible and i doubt they'll even last you through the winter - i'd go for something with a bit of a sole like rocketdog or similar..

OhCobblers · 02/10/2010 15:17

fluffles : thanks for your posts and link - unfortunately not a fan of the rocket dog ones, but per your suggestion am happy to look at non-Ugg style.

So is it possible to buy genuine sheepskin boots, not Uggs, but perhaps have that similar "look" for around £50? or am i barking up completely the wrong tree Grin

My sister has some from costco - they were £30, proper sheepskin and seem to be holding up well so far.
There is no branding on the actual boots.

PussyfootingAround · 02/10/2010 15:30

TK Maxx usually do Bearpaw around this time of year and into winter. Real sheepskin, very warm, bargain Smile

Would second Costco recommendation, have got couple of pairs from them, genuine sheepskin.

Only thing about Mtalan, Primark etc is they are likely to be synthetic/fabric uppers so v unlikely to be hard wearing.

OhCobblers · 02/10/2010 16:51

ok, so taking on board your thoughts about synthetic uppers and usinga different tack,
where is the cheapest that you've seen real sheepskin boots, ie, how much?

Definitely take a look at the Bearpaws ones in TKMaxx. I bought mine 2.5 years ago for £20 & they're still going strong - no sagging or collapsing and i wear mine A LOT!They have a lovely thick inner & the soles are very sturdy & supportive. In fact my Bearpaws are holding up considerably better than my friends genuine Uggs! They had grey & brown ones in my local TKMaxx the other day but not sure about black ones. HTH.

Costco has had them previous winters, not sure if they have them at mo, haven't been recently, def didn't cost more than about £30. They do 'real UGGs' too but usually only the knitted ones Confused which am sure would be really hard wearing!!
Their own brand ones are good though, although def have to try on, they're really huge sizing

nicolamumof3 · 02/10/2010 19:30

not sure how much celtic sheepskin are? or ewe boots? off to have a look..!

puddlepuss · 02/10/2010 19:34

I got some from Dorothy Perkins 3 years ago for £40 and I live in them. They're still going strong - no collapsing, no threads - and they're really comfy. They've had them every year for the last 4 years so they should still do them now.

nicolamumof3 · 02/10/2010 19:42

just sheepskin £95

chestnut only but £69.99

celtic sheepskin quite a bit more at £115.

employmentlawquery · 02/10/2010 19:49

I bought a pair of shearling "Groundhogs" from Amazon reduced from about £140 to £41, They are fab!

OhCobblers · 02/10/2010 20:21

nicola : love those lambland ones - might switch from "must have black" to chestnut -
