the fringe is too short and wonky, the bob is too heavy and its just all wrong. what can i do to make it better? i cant pin it back, its too long. its on the verge of sticking out, its so short. i want to get it cut into a crop one the fringe grows a bit, but i dont know if i can wait. do you think it would be worth getting it cut into this and hiding the fringe under the longer sections combed forward?

will post a pic on profile in a sec.

go back. for gods sake. talk to them. tell them how you feel. what have you got to lose ? phone them NOW. the hairdresser will atleast listen, make a couple of suggestions. make you feel better.
it happens. a cut just doesn't suit the person. i mean suit as in they don't like it, can't style it themselves. they may not be able to do much, but they may be able to trimt he fringe and say, in 4 weeks we will be able to do this, once that has grown, etc etc, e.g. e.g.
Please do this. PLEASE.

BudaisintheZONE · 24/09/2010 12:13

Hi lissie.

I love that Sienna cut and I think it would suit you. So you could go for that.

I would go back to the hairdresser if you can bear it - the fringe is no only too short (which some people like) but it is crooked to my eye.

Actually - i LOVE that Sienna cut. When I lose weight I am having my hair cropped.

BessieBoots · 24/09/2010 12:14

I think that the Sienna Miller bob would suit you, you have fab bones. (Envy)

However, except for the fringe, which I concede is a bit wonky, I quite like your hair now.

I have done this when cutting my own hair (yes, I know, I know...) One side kept going shorter than the other until my hair was a very short bob- It was down to my bum before that...

bethjeff · 24/09/2010 12:14

It looks like they have tried to do the fringe asymmetrically. And got bored half way through.

Im not sure if it's just the cut but is your hair quite fine?

I would change your parting... get rid of the doorstep fringe. Take your parting from the side and towards your crown so that it is swept forward and to the side and I would leave the length at the front to balance the length of your face out and then crop the back in...how much depends on how brave you are but the easiest would be a graduated bob.

Wee bit of wax in your fringe to hold it in place and you're laughing.

It would be a far 'younger cut' but with your youthful face I think it would look fab.

jonicomelately · 24/09/2010 12:16

I don't think you'll be able to manage the shorter SM cut. It's too dependent on the fringe being long.

They've messed up the fringe which will grow out quickly. Tuck it behind your ears in the meantime and splash out on a few professional blow dries to improve it as much as possible.

It really isn't that bad though.

bethjeff · 24/09/2010 12:16

And I would completely understand if you didn't want to visit the same hairdressers again. I'd be inclined to go in and complain and say that you would be looking for a refund as you are having to get your hair cut elsewhere.

GeekyGirl · 24/09/2010 12:18

It's not as bad as you think and the fringe will grow quickly. However, if you are very unhappy, go for the crop now. I might be a bit dubious about using the same hairdresser if they can't cut a fringe straight though.

OracleInaCoracle · 24/09/2010 12:19

the problem is, i have a natural side parting and a sort of widows peak above my right eye, so if i try to sweep it across while its this short then the fringe sticks out, and it wont go at all from the other side. my hair is v fine and straight, but there is a LOT of it. the cut was free via a gift voucher so i feel a bit crap calling them up, AND i dont want to go back there. it was done by the salon owner ffs.

thatsnotmymonkey · 24/09/2010 12:26

You are very beautiful you can carry anything off!

What did you ask for at the hairdressers? Go back and say you are not happy. People do this all the time and any hairdresser worth their salt will be happy to try and "fix" it for you. I have in the past- walked out mid cut because it was going really badly and been back for a re-cut 3 times! I am a TERRIBLE customer, and now have found a hairdresser who "gets me"

Th Sienna cut is all about length at the front, which you are lacking at the moment, unless your hair is very thick, I don't think it is possible.

Fringe is a teensy bit wonky, so you could ask for more your hair to be brought forward and cut in, sort of layered and choppy from a deep side parting and swept across the front. Hide the severity of it.it will grow really fast, fringe's always do.

I would keep the length at the sides, get some nice caramel/ashy highlights and some of your natural colour low lights to make it look more swishy and less severe too.

OracleInaCoracle · 24/09/2010 12:32

thank you.

i asked for a trim. my hair was in a bob with a fringe before, but the fringe was choppier and on my eyebows. we have a wedding next saturday which is why i didnt want anything too drastic just yet, but the plan was always to get it cut into a crop in a few months.

it was a different hairdresser, i normally go to supercuts and have pretty much the same thing, i had the fringe cut initially about 5m ago and have had a bob or long hair since i was 18. i hate hairdressers anyway though.

OP posts:
ValiumSingleton · 24/09/2010 12:36

I would clip the fringe to one side for the wedding. it will look like a chic bob then. I agree with you that they haven't left you with a great style. It's kind of dora the explorer, but don't worry too much, in a few weeks the fringe will have grown down, and then you'll be in a position to get the sienna cut, whcih is lovely. don't let them touch the fringe when yo ugo back.

the number of hairdressers who don't understand 'less than an inch' still amazes me.

minipie · 24/09/2010 12:40

this is a bit of a risk, but how about getting the bob cut shorter (just below cheekbones) and the fringe evened out to turn it into a shorter louise brooks/flapper style bob?

(I agree that I'm not sure you can turn current cut into sienna miller crop until the fringe has grown out quite a lot)

I think the short fringe would look much better with a shorter bob - and if you're cropping in a few months anyway then it doesn't matter if you lose some length.

It is quite a bold look though so you'd need to feel brave...!

OracleInaCoracle · 24/09/2010 12:42

its a little too short to do that, unless i clip it under my hair and use a ton of hairspray.

oh god, i shall be personally responsible for the enlargement of the ozone hole wont i?

the thing is, its even grown a little bit since they did it!

OP posts:
nameymcnamechange · 24/09/2010 12:48

Part your hair quite heavily on one side.

Tuck both sides behind your ears and wear some nice earings.

Muss your fringe up a bit, little dab of gel (remember that?) don't let it fall down straight like that.

Sienna's hair is lovely but you won't be able to hide the short fringe under the longer layers. It will just look peculiar, sorry Grin.

OracleInaCoracle · 24/09/2010 12:49

minipie, i could i suppose, but im worried that it would be a little severe. mil was telling me not to worry, that it wasnt worth crying over etc, but its ok for her, it not her hair! im v insecure about my looks anyway and my hair has always been a saving grace because of its condition etc. now its shiny, but i have a novelty do that im sure my mum did for me back in 1982.

OP posts:
JustBeachy · 24/09/2010 12:49

You can buy a clip on fringe for the wedding/to wear til it grows back - I found this site which has them pretty cheap. I think they sell them in Debenhams too.

Or try a head band to push it back off your face?

Otherwise just get it straightened up - i think it would look fine if it wasn't for being uneven at one side. Or maybe try a <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=www.short-hairstyles.com/zoom/s81.jpg&imgrefurl=www.short-hairstyles.com/short/s81.htm&usg=__oIgNGctQBoPgcm13yijMq_LC73o=&h=393&w=334&sz=20&hl=en&start=22&zoom=1&tbnid=YZHWfgWo-K9L6M:&tbnh=142&tbnw=127&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dshort%2Bfringe%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dsafari%26sa%3DN%26rls%3Den%26biw%3D1106%26bih%3D606%26tbs%3Disch:10%2C367&um=1&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=395&vpy=212&dur=8991&hovh=244&hovw=207&tx=162&ty=95&ei=C5CcTOuCB5a8jAf71bmjDQ&oei=7I-cTK21CpDKjAfy3tiADQ&esq=3&page=2&ndsp=21&ved=1t:429,r:2,s:22&biw=1106&bih=606" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">pixie cut?

I think the cut of the fringe is too blunt. Obviously the fringe in <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=www.visual-makeover.com/hairstyle-advice/wp-content/Natalie%2520Imbruglia%2520with%2520a%2520short%2520fringe_new.jpg&imgrefurl=noelletpl.blogspot.com/2009_09_07_archive.html&usg=__pOU2B_PoIgzmxTvhvHRvzGgPeTc=&h=189&w=180&sz=7&hl=en&start=0&zoom=1&tbnid=3wCKvgzOLf91jM:&tbnh=151&tbnw=144&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dshort%2Bfringe%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26safe%3Doff%26sa%3DN%26rlz%3D1G1SVEA_ENUK369%26biw%3D1106%26bih%3D501%26tbs%3Disch:1&um=1&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=908&vpy=147&dur=94&hovh=151&hovw=144&tx=117&ty=68&ei=R4-cTKeHLNCRjAef7cmUDQ&oei=R4-cTKeHLNCRjAef7cmUDQ&esq=1&page=1&ndsp=13&ved=1t:429,r:6,s:0" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">this photo is shorter than yours but you could use a bit of hair wax to break it up a bit until you get to a hairdresser or grow it long enough for the cut you really want.

You have such a lovely face and I don't think it looks awful but I can see that the fringe isn't right for you. Your hair is too fine to carry off a blunt cut and the fringe might look better with a bit of feathering.

OracleInaCoracle · 24/09/2010 13:05
