the fringe is too short and wonky, the bob is too heavy and its just all wrong. what can i do to make it better? i cant pin it back, its too long. its on the verge of sticking out, its so short. i want to get it cut into a crop one the fringe grows a bit, but i dont know if i can wait. do you think it would be worth getting it cut into this and hiding the fringe under the longer sections combed forward?

will post a pic on profile in a sec.

Lissie I have a really wild cows lick on one side and (I kid you not) my hair dresser's way of getting around this was to chop it right off.

So now, not only do I have a crap fringe but I have a tuft of hair sticking straight up from my head where my usual (left hand) side parting would be.

To hide it I blow dry a side parting in from the right and because the fringe is quite short blowdry it downwards so that it will hold- bit of wax does the job.

So if you're wanting to get rid of your fringe I daresay you could probably do the same thing... you'll have problems getting it to clip back do to the length right now but a thorough blow dry will do wonders!

OracleInaCoracle · 25/09/2010 08:16

thank you bethjeff, Shock at you hairdresser though!

Lissie, you are beautiful and even that haircut cannot distract from that Smile.

Go back to the hairdresser and complain big time if you are not happy.

The Sienna haircut is great but your fringe might be too short for that just now?

Have a look at this website - I just had the cut done I've linked to and love having short hair again (went from a chinlength bob). And there is so much choice on that site for all sorts of types of hair. And no, I am under so illusion that I now look like Sharon Stone Wink.

Your little boys is gorgeous btw Smile.

And welcome back to your old name...

OracleInaCoracle · 25/09/2010 08:34

thank you pacific Blush that cut is beautiful, i love short hair. dh prefers it too. i like this and it would probably work now

PacificDogwood · 25/09/2010 08:36

Oh yes, v cool cut, and your bone structure would support it Envy

Go for it!

OracleInaCoracle · 25/09/2010 08:36

or this i really need something i dont have to fiddle too much with iykwim.

OP posts:
PacificDogwood · 25/09/2010 08:40

That was my objective, too. I suppose that second cut is less high maintance (apart from very regular cuts) and choppy is usually easier to achieve with a bit of 'glue'

PacificDogwood · 25/09/2010 08:40

Glue and fingers, I mean.

You'd have to wash your hair every day though

OracleInaCoracle · 25/09/2010 08:45

i really dont know which i like best. my hair is v fine and straight, but theres a LOT of it. i dont really want to dye my hair again yet and i want to look good for the wedding, especially since my ribs have dictated that i cant wear my beautiful dress now.

minibmw2010 · 25/09/2010 10:17

I would go with the Michelle Williams cut, its very pretty and your hair and bone structure could support it. Unfortunately your fringe is both wonky and too blunt, it needs to be softer. The Natalie Imbruglia picture is good too, so you have two good options you could take with you as examples to a different hairdresser? If you really aren't happy I'd definitely get it done before next weekends wedding otherwise you'll just be conscious of it all day, regardless of what you do to it.

bethjeff · 25/09/2010 13:12

If you have a lot of finehair then you are lucky because it means it won't look patchy or flyaway if you do decide to go shorter.

I have had a year of hairdressing horrors so I feel like I'm equipped to deal with anything- I thought I'd splash out and get it all sorted by paying £100 at vidal sassoon. Worst thing I have ever done.

You are lucky because whether you go with a sweeping fringe or with a short crop you have the long lithe looks to carry it off!

FWIW I love the pixie looking crop :)

Can't wait to seewhat you end up with

Rafaella · 25/09/2010 22:55

Definitely put it in a side parting then mess it up a bit. I too have widow's peak over right eye so hair sticks out in a short fringe. If you hair dry on full blast downwards from root you can usually get it to go in the right direction. Also wear some lippie, and pretend it's just what you wanted. Will grow out in no time and you are v lovely in your happy smiling family pic.

Aitch · 25/09/2010 23:01

have you thought about getting the fringe cut on the slant, to make it look like you ahve it swept to one side? i used to do that, it worked well. and deffo side parting and tuck behind ears. with cheekbones like that, love, you will be a beauty again!

midori1999 · 25/09/2010 23:21

I am a hairdresser and I actually thought you might be exaggerating before seeing the picture. I can only imagine a hairdresser must be drunk to make such a hash of someone's hair. That is not just not quite understanding what someone wanted, it's a total fuck up. Sorry.

I agree with everyone that you are very, very, very pretty and have a wonderful face. I would complain at the hairdressers and either rask for the owner to sort it (if it was a decent salon generally) or get your money back and go elsewhere to have it corrected. You could have the fringe evened out and cut into a bit to make it look better without taking any length off.

You can also get 'proper' hair extensions just to add fringe length only. It wouldn't cost much. If you had a Raccoon salon near you, they could do it.

GeekOfTheWeek · 26/09/2010 13:15

I love love love the pixie cut.

Tbh you do need to complain because they have really fucked up.

SecretNutellaFix · 26/09/2010 13:25

Lissie, I hope you have complained about the hatchet job done on your fringe- I would be livid.

I'm useless at suggestions I'm afraid- I haven't seen a hairdresser since 2008 and that was just becasue I was getting married!

OracleInaCoracle · 26/09/2010 18:45

thank you all so much, its nice to know that im not over-reacting iykwim, i feel really self conscious about it and have decided to try to get it cut tomorrow. going to go for the michelle williams cut initially and let it grow a little before i get the sienna one. i tried everything this morning when i did my hair (odd, because i never usually do my hair) and it still ended up looking ridiculous.

you are all being v kind calling me pretty too, im v Blush

OP posts:
happilyeverafter · 26/09/2010 19:27

Hmmm that's a toughie.

Your hair does look very thin now. I would be tempted to get a few subtle hair extensions put in to thicken it now (not to add length) and then bear with the fringe until it grows a little. If the rest of it was thick and swingy the fringe could be mussed a little and wouldn't look so obvious.

I love the crop but if you didn't love it you would be forever growing it out

Either way you are very pretty and will look lovely albeit with a dodgy fringe! I had something similar done when I was 17, my Mum took loads of photos to 'remember it by' indeed it was only hair and grew back very quickly.

OracleInaCoracle · 26/09/2010 19:45

i think i would be ok with the crop tbh, i cant do extensions, my lil sis came to stay for the weekend with her extensions and thye looked a bit odd. maybe its just me. plus, i cant afford extensions at the mo.

Shoshe · 26/09/2010 20:01

Lissie I have just had the Michelle Williams cut, its so easy to look after, takes two minutes to blow dry in the morning, or if I want to funk it up a bit, I just put wax on my fingers and sort of ruffle it, till it sort of sticks up.

My hair is really fine as well.

bethjeff · 26/09/2010 20:54

Fab news :) It's such a departure from your old 'do'. Just look at it as a makeover. Treat yourself to some new bits and pieces.

After your hair trauma some shiny things would not go amiss Wink

So glad that you have found a haircut that you like- I shall be waiting to see the pictures!!

OracleInaCoracle · 30/09/2010 17:15

i have decided to wait til tuesday to get it cut again, as i dont want to look like a nob in front of dh's friends. it has grown a little, so i can comb it to one side now if i use mousse and gel. there is a pic on my profile (and i swear that as soon as i get it chopped i shall post a new pic of it- good or bad)

OP posts:
LilRedWG · 30/09/2010 17:25

Wow - that looks better like that Lissie! Try not to let it get you down too much - just remember my disasterous dye and laugh. :) x
