They're ok but the sizing is deeply weird. I am 6.5 but my Fly boots are an 8 Shock

FiveOrangePips · 21/09/2010 15:21

I also had leaking mols (they were £40 , so yes cheap), leather boots should be able to stand up to a walk through wet grass without soaking your feet, or even a walk along wet pavements to school...

I don't remember mine leaking, but haven't worn them yet this season (ooh get me) so may have forgot. I also got them when they were £40 so a bargain.

Like others have said they're not good in wet weather but they are so comfortable. I love mine (Mols)

Lots of people found that they are quite narrow in the calf though so no good if you are chunky/muscular/shapely in that region

FiveOrangePips · 21/09/2010 16:03

I did treat them with waterproofing stuff, at least once, they are my driving in the car boots/dry days only.

TheGrumpalo · 21/09/2010 16:05

I have these www.schuh.co.uk/womens-dark-brown-fly-london-minx-maos-lace-up-calf-boot/1543016120 and I love them.

This is my second pair, had to take the first pair back as they leaked so badly (I bought them just after Christmas this year)
The second pair still leak but are so comfy I've kept them anyway!

I spray them with protector but it doesn't help, they do tend to leak at the bit where the sole meets the seam.

muddleduck · 21/09/2010 16:27

I agree that they are prone to leaking, but tbh I wore mine most of last winter and only got damp feet once.

also I have very chunky calves and had a real strucggle getting them on for the first few weeks, but they did come to fit me very well. The zips are made of stern stuff Grin

Whitethorn · 21/09/2010 16:28

Thanks for the replies. I dont think these are for me. Am a city dweller and I dont expect boots to do the job of wellies but constant leaks is not on

Mine leaked as well, and weren't even comfy - feel like wearing tractor tyres the soles are so stiff.

No mine are now very baggy round the ankles, and they also leak - but worst is when your feet sweat a little bit, the insoles scrunch up inside, I hate that so much.

Basically a fashion boot. I stick to my Toggi riding boots now, they might not be as pretty but they actually do the job.

WhatsWrongWithYou · 22/09/2010 13:36

I never thought I'd hear Fly boots described as pretty Grin.

FlouryBap · 22/09/2010 13:59

i took mine back to office to complain about the leaking and was told the seam was specially stitched and was not suppose to be waterproof (hmm]. the guy recommended sealing the seam

MrsDoofenshmirtz · 22/09/2010 14:18

dubbin didn't help with mine cold wet feet all winter and they will not do another season because the water had ruined them.

FreakoidOrganisoid · 22/09/2010 16:27

I have mes, they are comfy and good for walking but mine only looked stylish for a couple of months and now look really battered. Like flight says they go really baggy around the ankles too.

BikeRunSki · 22/09/2010 18:49

Ooh how interesting.

I love the look of the Mes and Mols, but my big Gruffallo feet (normally a 7) don't even fit the 8s (in the short ones), and even if I try really hard, the zip doesn't do up over my big biking, running, skiing calves (in the long ones).

So I am actually rather pleased to see my unattainable boots being slated, and not to be tempted to spend £120 or something on boots that don't fit properly and seem not to actually be much good!

PhillipeVonRumple · 22/09/2010 18:53

Don't bother if you have wide feet, they are crippling.
BikeRunSki, I am considering getting boots from here makes a change from Duo although they are the other place to try if you are mighty of calf.

BikeRunSki · 22/09/2010 23:00

Oooh, thanks Phillipe - does make a change from Duo (I find their styles a bit girly for me). I could fancy some Siennas....

I have just ordered these from Clark's to see how they fit (free delivery and returns). They have stuff on the website that is not in the shops. Who knew?

WilfShelf · 22/09/2010 23:10

I usually have some variety of the Yellow sort [with wedge heels] Last winter I had a brown version of these and they were great. No leaks! I guess the wedge thing means you're splashing through the water...

But yes, sizing is VERY odd and narrow. Portuguese women must have very narrow feet.

missmelly · 23/09/2010 01:58

lol if only we'd known they'd leaked when we were so desperatly trying to get them in that £40 sale last year Grin

(I was one of the unlucky ones who's boots never showed)
