Or were you one of the lucky ones missmelly? I am just glad I only paid £40 for them - though I paid £40 for a pair of DP boots in the sale about 5 years ago and they don't leak!

neytiri · 23/09/2010 10:18

i got mine for £40 last year, and so far, they've not leaked. have worn them in light rain on the school run, in heavy rain i would wear wellies anyway.

I like those Clarks boots BikeRunSki, let me know how they are on the width. Oh and I can report after exchanging a few emails, the company I linked to are VERY helpful, nice to have some good customer service Smile Haven't bought any boots yet - they are checking foot width for me but will let you know how I get on with them if I do.

BikeRunSki · 23/09/2010 13:58

Don't knwo about the boots I linked to yet, as they are www order only, but I passed a Clark's shop earlier today and am pleased to report that these fit perfectly. Size 8, broad foot, 44cm calves (17.5"). I am waiting for the others ones to come to decide which ones to keep.

PhillipeVonRumple · 23/09/2010 18:08

BikeRunSki - I've ordered some! Free deliv and returns is brilliant. Will be harrassing my postie on a daily basis now Smile

BikeRunSki · 23/09/2010 20:20

Ooh Phillipe - What have you ordered? The Clark's ones? Or some from the website you linked to?

V exited. And for what it is worth, I have these in 3 colours, going back about 5 years!

DMs

I ordered the orinoco jazz ones from clarks. I LOVE those DMs (I lived in DMs from aged 18 -21yrs) It says circumference 325mm - does that mean calf? How do they fit you?! OOOH I want some and all those pretty colours
EXPLAIN!!

BikeRunSki · 24/09/2010 21:49

OK, I have them in red, brown and black. Not sure where they have measured 325mm, but my mahhosive calves (toned muscle you understand)are 440mm of thereabouts around the bulgiest bit. The DMs fit like a dream, and I can just about tuck skinny jeans in (although mahhosive thighs too mean this has only happened once). Foot bit is wide too.

BikeRunSki · 24/09/2010 21:50

I lived in DMs at that age too!

PhillipeVonRumple · 27/09/2010 19:30

Oh BRS, I've a crap boot day! My clarks ones arrived but no matter how much I tried I could not get the zip up round my humungous calves. I went to Schuh, tried on the DMs which did do up (yay) but were too tight across the foot (boo). I tried on the fly london Mes ones, which just about did up round the calves but having read such shocking reviews on here, don't think, in all good conscience, I can buy them.

I'm back to the company I linked to in the first place I think, they aren't EXACTLY what I wanted as I like the solid sole look of the DMs and Fly Londons but I think such a thing just does not exist for big calvesSad

Hi, i have a pair of Fly Minx boots - and DO NOT RECOMMEND THEM AT ALL. They look great, and are comfortable but are NOT AT ALL WATER-PROOf. They aren't even suitable for walking on dewy grass, let alone in the rain.

I took them back to the shop thinking that my particular pair where faulty, but the assistant said "Leather is not a waterproof material". I have worn leather shoes all my life and have never had a pair that leaked before.

I bought a can of waterproofing spray from Clarks and have treated the boots several times - but I think the problem is that the felt inner lining is exposed just above the sole, and it is this which sucks the water in.

It feels stupid to have a pair of boots that are unwearable on days when the slightest rain is forecast. No matter how trendy they look!

aftereight · 17/01/2011 13:37

Mine leak, and I've had to use insoles as they felt as though they had grit inside them from new. But they are comfy and look GREAT!

nicole333 · 17/01/2011 17:17

I've got the Ota's and love them. They are so comfortable from the off. I never knew about this leaking problem and naturally assumed I should treat them with something when I bought them. Asked the girl in the shop and she reccommended DM Dubbin, making sure I concentrated on the stitched areas (obviously!)

I've worn them through this nasty weather we can't seem to shake off and today I realised why I managed to get one of the last parking spaces. When I got out of my car, I stepped into a big puddle. Bugger. Anyway, so far so good and very happy!
