No, I wouldn't to be honest.

CMOTdibbler · 23/08/2010 19:54

I would, and DS would love it

activate · 23/08/2010 19:56

yes - has he never watched that bug movie with the ladybird who's a boy

tattycoram · 23/08/2010 19:56

Yes, my DS would love it too

LynetteScavo · 23/08/2010 19:59

Yes I would. Whether DS wanted to be dressed as a Ladybird is another matter.

thelunar66 · 23/08/2010 20:01

I clicked because I read thread title as 'ladyboy'

I had never considered it but now you mention it I would love to dress my ds up as a ladybird.

seeker · 23/08/2010 20:02

If ds wanted to wear it, I would. But he woudn't have wanted to. He would have categorized ladybirds with butterflies. Sorry.

SnailWhaleTail · 23/08/2010 20:22

Fabulous!

My 3 yr old boy would be happy to be dressed as a ladybird.

LadyBee · 23/08/2010 20:23

Yup. My DS has a ladybird scuttlebug. He'd love it.

geraldinetheluckygoat · 23/08/2010 20:24

yeah!

Tikkabillajive · 23/08/2010 20:25

Why on earth not?! We have a ladybird raincoat that both my children (dd and ds) have worn in their time - sadly it's too small for both of them now. But it never occurred to me that ladybirds might be gender specific!

dawntigga · 23/08/2010 20:28

Why ever not? It's hardly going to make him gay - your dh does know that you are either gay or you aren't doesn't he?

YunoYurbubson · 23/08/2010 20:28

Of course.

colditz · 23/08/2010 20:30

The proportion of homosexual ladybirds is statistically insignificant.

QwertyQueen · 23/08/2010 20:34

I definitely would.
He asks to be dressed in a pink princess outfit from time to time, so a ladybird outfit would be a happy compromise

I'm not sure the "gay issue" had occurred to him more the association with the girls because they'd worn it I guess.
I love the whole co ordinating thing so it's a keeper Grin

lol. I read the title as '... as a lady boy' too.

sorrento56 · 23/08/2010 20:43

Yep. Dh too if he would let me. Grin DD wore her brother's Paddington Bear coat.

teaandcakeplease · 23/08/2010 20:45

My DS only wore his sisters tutu and fairy wings the other day and loved it. He's 19 months. LOL

So I would yes Smile

In fact I think there's a photo on my profile of him in it.

EightiesChick · 23/08/2010 20:47

Yes! I wouldn't if he really hated it, but that's not the same as just saying 'no, you can't dress a boy as a ladybird'. And while we're about it, what's with the 'bees = girls' thing? Down with it all.

seeker · 23/08/2010 20:51

Oh, ffs - surely there isn;t a "gay issue" here????

My ds had a very strong idea of what was appropriate for boys very early. Despite my strenuous efforts I appear to have given birth to a pair of sterotypes! And I know he wouldn't have wanted to dress as a ladybird. Neither I nor his father would have had the slighest problem with him dressing as a ladybird, abutterfly or anything, really (except a soldier. The only present I ever supressed was a commando suit) but he wouldn't have wanted to.

Booboobedoo · 23/08/2010 20:51

I'm sniggering at the idea of gender-specific insects.

DS is 3 and a half, and loves dressing as a fairy. He also often pretends to be a butterfly.

The outfit sounds lovely, for a boy or a girl.

sorrento56 · 23/08/2010 20:54

My dh was not impressed when I painted ds's nails Grin.
