Must buys for autumn wardrobe?

LadyThompson · 17/08/2010 22:32

Summer is over, I reckon...so what are the essential colours and styles for autumn? I would quite like to buy a new coat or jacket, but am currently 32 weeks pregnant so would be buying it for post late September when I think I will still be a size 14...however, if I wait until then, all the good ones will have gone.

Any other suggestions for good (and in my case, necessarily flattering) buys for the up to Christmas period?

Maryqueenofchocs · 20/08/2010 21:17

autumndew me thinks you deserve a complete new wardrobe for that effort.......Smile

spiritmum · 20/08/2010 21:47

How did you do it, Autumndew?

Def agree with Mary on the new wardrobe. Smile

Carrie06 · 20/08/2010 22:10

I tried on the pied a terre cape in camel a couple of weeks ago and it is lovely but a bit impractical as I have a mucky 17mth old DS.

So far I have bought a lovely Hobbs sleveless scarlet wool dressand a black/grey wrap dress (they gave me 20% in the Bluewater store for buying 2 of them). I would like a narrow black patent belt to wear with the red dress but the Hobbs one is £39 and a bit much so on the look out for a cheaper one.

Ah, I have his book and CD, not really bothered sticking to it. But I like the thought of still being able to have hot chocolate, so will give him another look! Thanks for inspiring me and I know you are going to look amazing this Autumn! Smile

spiritmum · 22/08/2010 12:26

Ebo, sounds lovely, but that selection would make me look vast.

Apart from the shoe boots, of which I already have a very funky pair. Smile

ebojones · 22/08/2010 16:01

spiritmum - I am a minature 5ft!
I think the main thing though is to find key pices that flatter YOU and that you can wear in different ways. Less is more. I have been watching too much of Gok Wan Wink

brookeslay · 22/08/2010 16:46

Ebo where are you getting your tea dress from ? Im short and I dont want one to swamp me. thanks

FellatioNelson · 22/08/2010 20:23

I just got rid of a camel wool cape last winter.Shock Sad

It was lovely, and interesting, and expensive, but I figured it would never really be fashionable and I'd end up looking too frumpy/eccentric. Someone slap me.

If only I could remember which North Essex charity shop it was knocking aorund in, I'd go and buy it back.

spiritmum · 22/08/2010 20:33

Fellatio Angry I didn't spot it, being a habitue of North Essex charity shops. I tend to hang onto the things that make me look eccentric and dump the normal stuff. Still, the dc are still young enough to be happy to be seen in my company.

Mind you, not sure camel is my colour, so I will probably be looking for either some nice wool wide legs in camel, or possibly a bangle or something, so that it stays away from my face.

Have just got some amazing black crepe palazzos, and seen some tops and a knitted cardigan jacket thing that I like in the Poetry catalogue.

Ebo, is it possible to watch too much Gok? I think not. Smile

oggybags · 22/08/2010 20:34

bargain camel cape in sunday times style magazine from TU at sainsburys 'coming soon' which seems to be something a few of you like the look of!

FellatioNelson · 22/08/2010 21:05

spiritmum well, if you find it, and buy it, and some furious madwoman lunges at you while you are minding your own business in Tesco one day, and rips it from your back, that will be me.Grin

Clue as to your whereabouts please?

spiritmum · 22/08/2010 21:23

North-west.

And you? Smile (I send dh to Tesco)

Oooh, nice, Constable country Smile. Nearly ended up there but this turned out to be easier for dh's commute at the time. We're on the Suffolk/Cambs border so things get a bit confusing sometimes.

Rubbish for shops though.
