Can I start the first boots thread of the season?

When the boots come into the shops I want to be bloody well ready and get a decent pair instead of trailing round the shops in December when there is nothing left.

So my question is . . .

WHERE sells boots for people with skinny calves?

I want to be queueing outside as soon as they get 'em in this year.

Please.

Well there is always duo but it is a bit boring.

Otherwise, since ankle boots are the thing this A/W get some lovely ankle boots that are laced and they will always be a good fit!
(it's what I have done)

aquavit · 13/08/2010 15:17

oooh boots.

Some Jones boots are quite slim fitting.

But I agree with Jewels, get ankle boots - they don't need to be laced, I think they still look cool worn a bit loose.

Although I may just be a year out of date...

BalloonSlayer · 13/08/2010 15:26

Awww no my ankles are too skinny for ankle boots. Think of a heron in wellies and you get the picture.

I want them to wear with jeans tucked in and not look like the above-mentioned aquatic bird.

ive just bought a pair of Purple patent boots from the Mini Boden range for myself from Ebay. I am 47 God help me!Lat 10 years or so have had to buy legroom boots which are great but i am celebrating losing the weight Grin

domesticsluttery · 13/08/2010 15:34

No idea, but if you want to borrow a bit of my calves to pad your out you are welcome Grin

While I'm on the subject of footwear, are shoe boots still "in" or have they had their day?

Jewelsandgems · 13/08/2010 15:35

are you sure balloon? They are all over the catwalk

a/w trend video

BalloonSlayer · 13/08/2010 15:40

That's a lovely video Jewels but I am too old for all that. Sad

I need to stick with the knee-highs unfortunately.

oh ok balloon :)

Well then, do check out www.duoboots.com

And yes, Jones are slim fitting too (and some of the Fly London boots are also slim fitting)

traceybath · 13/08/2010 15:57

Do you want flat or heels?

BalloonSlayer · 13/08/2010 15:58

ooh they look lovely >

Thank you.

Will also check out Jones.

Duo Duo Duo!!!!! Am same as you with skinny calves and on recomendation of Mumsnetters have bought two pairs of Duos ... I loooooove them! Go for it!

BalloonSlayer · 13/08/2010 16:04

traceybath I want them to have heels so that I look slimmer but they need to be as comfortable as flats.

Like I want my handbag to be small and stylish but be able to hold two nappies, a medical kit and three cartons of juice. And some biscuits.

I am a. Difficult. Customer.

If anyone's up for looking for boots, can you find me some knee-length, black biker-style boots, please?

Must be knee-length and chunky.

traceybath · 13/08/2010 16:11

Hmmmm - well I think heeled knee-highs with jeans tucked in looks a bit wrong now - a bit 3 years ago perhaps - god - that sounds mean Blush

But I think mid-calf are better for tucking in unless you go for a flat riding boot type style.

I will be sporting some lace up ankle boots and then mid-calf biker style boots with a chunky 2 inch heel (well when I find them)

Must say - I've had duo boots and my conclusion is that they're poor quality for the price and also the styles are dull.

Hobbs is good for slim-fitting and red magazine has a 20% off code this month.

domesticsluttery · 13/08/2010 16:16

"a bit 3 years ago perhaps" - the same as shoe boots then?

traceybath · 13/08/2010 16:23

No I personally think shoeboots still have some mileage in them Smile

Its just I think the knee high boots with heels with skinnies tucked in just looks a bit wrong now but hey - its just my opinion.

domesticsluttery · 13/08/2010 16:29

Yay at shoe boots still having mileage in them, I have a pair which I love and I don't want to consign to Oxfam just yet Grin

moragbellingham · 13/08/2010 16:30

I read an article in a mag ages ago saying Office are good for skinny calves.
Also I find Jones the bootmaker are quite slim fitting.

traceybath · 13/08/2010 16:31

I think shoeboots and skirts look fab.

Its funny how things suddenly look wrong though. I've got some v expensive boots (knee high with heels) and tried them on the other day with my skinnies and just looked wrong. A bit Sharon from eastenders.

moragbellingham · 13/08/2010 16:32

Oh, I forgot that I have bought Office boots before and can confirm they are for skinny of calf!Smile

moragbellingham · 13/08/2010 16:34

Did you have a chunky, cowl neck pink/purple jumper on too to complete the ensemble Grin

moragbellingham · 13/08/2010 16:34

And yes, I'm old enought to remember it 80's style first time round!

Jewelsandgems · 13/08/2010 16:34

I know what you mean traceybath. I only wear jeans tucked into my calf length flats (riding boots with tops turned over) or my laced ankle boots (or my oasis 3 strap shoes which nearly look like shoeboots but arn't) :)

orangina · 13/08/2010 16:36

Sorry to butt in, but I do love a boot thread....

Am looking at these and am rather loving them.... but perhaps they are hideous?

Am I right?

florenceuk · 13/08/2010 16:38

If you don't mind spending over £100, Camper come up quite slim - the winter stock is not yet all up on their site yet though. They usually make a "sporty" type one with a flat rubber sole and a more structured one.

and once I went into Emma Hope and their boots came up VERY narrow in the calf. But ££££!
