I am so bloody sick of wearing the same things day in day out!

I'm quite a chunky lass...with a big baby overhang Blush

I have a pair of jeans, a pair of linen trousers and a pair of 3/4 jeans.

And I have 3 tops Blush

I am sick of trawling through charity shops and never being able to find anything I like.

I hate clothes shopping and money is really tight so has anyone got any good places to shop or ideas on things I could get away with wearing.

Usually I wear blacks and greys, although today I am wearing white trousers!!!

Please help...I feel as though I am stuck in a rut.

p.s-take your knickers off your head, theyve been on for agesGrin

knickers0nmyhead · 07/08/2010 00:27

No friends of similar sizes, they are all skinny minnys!!! and I couldn't give these clothes away, never mind swap them Blush

AND I put a clean pair on every other month Wink

Im not thin.....I also dont have tons of money to spend, but I get a lot of complements about my clothes.

What you need to do is to go to primark buy 3 none elastic T shirts, try them on and get ones that fit not snugly but that are quite long, get a black one a white one and a coloured one.....then buy a couple of funky necklaces long ones and wear with your jeans and a long cardi.

When youve done this, scour the charity shops (as I do) for things that fit and are longer in length to go over your tummy.

Buy a few pairs of 'control' pants you can get them for about £4 in tesco- they make a world of difference.

Look after yourself too- just buy using a cheap moisturiser and hair conditioner you will look and feel much better.

I always smell nice not bcos i have tons of perfume i always spray the cardi/jacket thing I wear with perfume when in boots or debenams etc and then i put the card in my bag so my bag smells nice,I always have nice nails - they are cheap stick on ones but done caregully they look great,I do my hair with the straighteners at night then blow it in the morning,a tad of makeup and toe nail polish and people refer to me as 'well groomed' .....its all on the cheap but it makes me feel betterSmile.

nickschick · 07/08/2010 00:35

For an example yesterday I wore black linen trousers £1 in the charity shop,a red vest top with a frill on £2.50 primark, silver and red beads from dorothy perkins sale £2 and some silver pumps with jewels on £12 tesco ....at least 3 people commented(in a nice way Hmm i think)

knickers0nmyhead · 07/08/2010 00:39

Theres some goos advice there but Primarni only go up to an 18 top here...Im more towards a 22 in a top..18 bottoms.

If I go anywhere, I used to wear makeup (before dd ruined it all) and usually will blow dry and straighten my hairs.

Nails are a fab idea...I may just do that.

You dont look like a size 22 at all.

And primarks labels dont say 22 but some of their stuff is really marked up at the wrong size Smile I have a size 10 top from there that I wear (with the labels sticking out Grin)

Even so you need a bit of mascara blusher and lipgloss its essential Grin.

You are vv pretty and are selling yourself short I think.

knickers0nmyhead · 07/08/2010 00:54

haha I would have the labels sticking out too Grin

Definitely a 22 top...and thanks for the compliment Blush

Just passing by hope you don't mind.

Knickers - you are gorgeous. You have a lot going on there and as Nicks said you do not look like a size 22 at all. Your hair is lovely, always have it shining, have patience in the charity shops, there's great stuff in there, and I also agree with Nicks about Primark sizes. Scarves are nice too. And I'd do things with that gorgeous hair if I had it. Envy

Nicks HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

36? You're a baby enjoy it. Smile

nickschick · 07/08/2010 01:10

Aww thankyou.

Yes scarves are fab I have loads of those cheapy 'pashmina' types in jewel colours to wear with my winter coat and big jumpers.

Monty100 · 07/08/2010 01:16

Nicks - yup and hats, I love a hat. Smile

Knickers - sunglasses, lippy and hat, loads of accessories, nice nails etc. Smile

Very glam look.

Actually, scrap the hat, no hat with your hair.
Envy

nickschick · 07/08/2010 01:18

I too love a hat I have loads I like the wooly beret type with some random sparkly stuff sewn on.

Ohhh its nice to find someone who likes my stuff Grin.

Last year I was sooooooooooo trendy as all the young girls were wearing hats too - ds1 sadly told them I wasnt a fashion fitter in I wore them all the time .....gah

Monty100 · 07/08/2010 01:25

Nicks - same.

I've been wearing hats, scarves and beads, well accessories, forever.

Blush

Oh and i've always done belts too.

Blush

Hmmmmmmmmmm, you sound interesting Grin.

Knickers?? Are you washing your beautiful hair?? Grin

JustBeachy · 07/08/2010 06:50

Asos have a curvy section and the clearance stuff is from £3 for a to here

Ebay is also fab but it takes time to look through and find the bargains!

JustBeachy · 07/08/2010 06:51

for a top...I love the one with a peacock on it...

PlumSykes · 07/08/2010 07:06

You are very pretty, with lovely hair.

With a curvy body like yours, you'd be much better of is dresses than tops and trousers than chop you in two. Monsoon go up to a 22, and have 70% off teh last of their sale stuff now, might be worth a look. Ebay good too, can search by size and colour to narrow down selection

miche8 · 07/08/2010 10:04

hi just had a look at your photos and you hair is lovely, do you dye it? are you wearing makeup in the photo? think you should wear more eye make up.

I have a top like you are wearing and if i wear it with linen trousers i dont feel good, all a bit shapeless. You have to be careful with linen trousers to get a well fitting pair, i swear mine get baggier during the day.

How about next or new look in the sales, only buy if it fits perfectly and you love it though or the asda sale bits go really cheap. Also boden might have a few bits in their sale, some of it is more suited to someone a bit older though. And are you wearing a good fitting bra and pants?

Car boots and ebay can be good, but i've also had things that dont fit.

GypsyMoth · 07/08/2010 10:35

i buy from ebay.....type in 'long tunic top size 22'

all sorts of things come up,but you get alot of the better stores stuff, alot unworn,or barely worn.....bid no higher than a couple of pounds and see what you win

same with jeans/trousers.......everyones struggling right now,so the richer ladies are selling on there too, which is better quality

i look out for debenhams and m and s,also i like next.

CrankyTwanky · 07/08/2010 11:53

Your top dosen't look that big-could you invest in a properly fitted decent bra? My dh got me an anita bfing one as a present and it's fab.

Would you consider getting a fringe cut? I have a round face and similar hair and look MUCH better with a sweeping sideways fringe.

nickschick · 07/08/2010 13:11

I looked on the asos sale thing this would look fab with jeans and a junky necklace.....

CheapHawaiian · 07/08/2010 14:03

Love the asos site, especially the jumpsuits.

A friend of mine who is not as svelte as you gets loads of lovely stuff from George at Asda.

Agree that you need to emphasise your eyes a bit.
