Boob support for spaniel ears in strappy/backless dress

Naetha · 25/07/2010 14:35

I used to be a 38DD before I had children, but having gained two children and lost three stone, my boobs aren't what they used to be.

I'm now a 32F (measured at Bravissimo) but my boobs are like poached eggs in socks and perch nicely on my ribs.

I've got a ball coming up in September, and would love to wear something like this but wouldn't have a clue what to do with my boob support!

It's a pretty dress. Have you searched www.figleaves.com for strapless bras? also John Lewis, Next online and M&S- lots to choose from.
You can also get just "cups" without any straps to wear under backless dresses.

purplepeony · 25/07/2010 17:21

Something like this..

Bare Lifts

Haven't used them, but fully intend to...they look and sound fab.

innocuousnamechange · 25/07/2010 17:31

The new strapless wonderbra is amazing. I too have deflated from a 38G to a 30D (my poor sad boobs ) and this was very good. A cheaper alternative is one of the John Rocha bras from Debenhams, very comfy and stays put

muddleduck · 25/07/2010 18:21

honestly?

having tried most of the options out there I would say...

find another dress.

sorry.

innocuousnamechange · 25/07/2010 18:47

No no no, have faith! If you can get to a larger Debenhams, they'll stock Coast and all the bras you could ever wish to try on

I might pop in to Debenhams in Leeds tomorrow - try the dress on with various bras...

Thanks for the advice though!

Those bare lifts btw...aren't they just clear gaffa tape?

2fedup, what wonderbra with fingers? Do you have a link?

solo · 26/07/2010 02:21

Lol! I hope not! that'd be very painful removal!

I've used something similar a few years ago, but Bare Lifts look better.

Naetha · 26/07/2010 16:31

Argh I went to try it on today and it's no longer reduced!!!

Back to £85 which is more than I wanted to spend on it, but I WANT it!!! I looked fabulous in it.

Should I buy it at full price? Should I leave it for a while in the hope that it gets reduced again? But what if it sells out or they withdraw it???

Argh decisions!

My friend used to be 30JJ and wear the strapless Bravissimo tops and bras.
I was convert after knowing they worked and looked pretty impressive (32E/F post children also).
Why not try ordering one and see how it is?

Having said that, I have not worn anything strapless since I've had my girls!

happilyeverafter · 26/07/2010 17:37

Another vote for the wonderbra ultimate strapless here, zero movement, great cleavage and a nice shape.

Celery · 26/07/2010 17:42

Those bare lift things only work if your boobs are still quite full. I tried them on my sad empty skin bags, and nearly cried.

Naetha · 26/07/2010 19:02

OK, that's me out - I'm empty skin bags r us at the moment...

Naetha · 26/07/2010 19:09

Is the wonderbra ultimate strapless any good if your boobs have literally nothing in them?

OP posts:
wifeofdoom · 26/07/2010 19:25

Add some ribbon straps and wear a normal bra?

solo · 27/07/2010 01:41

Really Celery? I'll be Ok then atm, but I'm still bfing and over weight, so quite a full cup...We women go through so much don't we?!

KristinaM · 27/07/2010 07:03

sorry i agree with muddleduck

beanlet · 27/07/2010 12:09

How about a proper honest-to-god corset? Nothing else really works well enough to give you complete peace of mind.

Or, as muddleduck says, another dress.

Naetha · 27/07/2010 19:20

I do like the idea of a corset - I'm guessing a proper steel boned corset would give the best support...

Any recommendations?

beanlet · 28/07/2010 18:07

Get fitted at Rigby and Peller if your budget stretches that far. . . if you get a perfect corset you can wear many other strapless dresses for years to come, so worth the outlay.

ReasonableDoubt · 28/07/2010 18:38

I have to say, I don't think that type of dress works if you have large or not perky breasts.

mablemurple · 28/07/2010 18:50

you could wear that dress with your usual bra if you wore a matching bolero type top over it to hide the straps.

Naetha · 29/07/2010 09:33

Argh!!!!! The dress is gone!!!!!!
