Anyone else having the same problem finding nice bras??

Am depressed about not being able to find some nice bras to suit my figure. It's not that my boobs are huge (although sizeable)but more where they are....after b/feeding two children (Youngest 11months and stopped feeding several months ago) instead of going South my boobs have gone East and West!! So because the breast tissue is so far under my arms (you cant really tell from looking) i need a big cup size to fit round there - DD or E however i have lost boob around the top and dont really have cleavage so most bras which fit me round the side are far too big round the front! Went in to Reading yesterday and went to John Lewis who i have always found very helpful. Currently have 3 t-shirt styles in different colour as the only ones that fit me but not very exciting and quite high cut so not good with low cut tops. Basically she couldnt find anything else to fit me and said that my breasts were 'so far apart' i would never be able to get them together (iyswim). Wasnt in the best of moods anyway and wanted to buy some nice new tops and got really upset. Standing in bra fiting room trying to stop crying - how sad is that. Have just ordered Bravissimo catalogue and might try and get to one of their shops but not that near me.

Just wondered if anyone else has the same problem or can offer any advice to cheer me up! Otherwise will be wearing the same bras for the rest of my life!

Thanks a lot
P.S. did go into M&S and found a couple that were OK but have strange seam across the front and they are a bit big across there so wrinkles a bit!

M&S are pretty terrible in my experience but John Lewis not so bad. The range they have for someone my size is tiny though...

nutcracker · 21/08/2005 12:23

Oh right that counts them out for me then.

Yes, agree about M&S for measuring - no good. A couple of weeks ago they told me I was a 40DD, when in fact I am around a 36F, although this varies, depending on the bra.

Littlefish · 21/08/2005 12:25

Cod - Unfortunately, boobs are so big that there's just no room for cakes. If I bought a bigger size, boobs would just expand and fill in the gaps!

I have 'full' breasts according to Rigby and Peller and that means that m and s will never fit - they are all fuller at the bottom of the cup than the top so make me look like I have 4 bosoms.

Rigby and Peller are amazing I have one bra from there, it cost nearly £50 but I would wear it every day if I could.

puff · 21/08/2005 12:45

Ooh, yes R&P said the same to me Enid!! And it's true, even more so now, post 2 children. I've been investigating a breast lift!

EnidfromtheVILLAGE · 21/08/2005 12:46

yes, I do that thing where I pinch just below your armpit and yank, they look fabulous then

Hausfrau - thanks for your message and empathy. What kind of bra do you wear - if you dont mind me asking such a personal question!!

Cod - I've tried a few balconette ones on and have the same problem that too much material round the top/front but I will try harder. have ordered Bravissimo catalogue. Cant help thinking plunge type might be better as wouldnt be so much material to try and fit them into.

i have the same problem since breastfeeding i have nothing at top of breast and they have gone north, east, west and south, i went to debenhams and got properly measured by a bra fitting expert-all the big stores have them. she told me to go for fantasie-which is also on the website link that cod provided and i have been wearing them ever since, u can get some really good ones in the sale, debenhams have a sale on now

Going into local town at lunchtime (if i can bear the rain!) as have quite good lingerie shop so will see how i get on there. Hope no more comments about how far my boobs are apart. Feel a bit like complaining to John Lewis but was feeling a bit 'delicate' on Saturday but still not great thing to say to someone dont you think!

Am now going to embarass myself and ask a really stupid question here but have a bit of a phobia about most people, ahem, touching my breasts. Do they measure you while you are wearing your usual bra or do you have to take it off and get measured topless???
