Giant feet shoe hell.

I have narrow, size 9 feet and have an absolute bitch of a time finding nice/comfortable shoes (socks, stockings...) in my size.

Does anyone else have this problem and where do you buy your shoes from?

If I could afford it I'd fly to Australia just to go shoe shopping. I swear it's true!

next do a 43 and so do top shop, they both sell lovely shoes. also online retialers such as shoe tailor sell specialist sizes and apparently evans sell a standard fit shoe now too.

Aduby · 18/07/2010 21:54

Have you tried Next? They do loads of styles in size 9, tbh this is where i buy most of mine, agree it is a complete pita having big feet.

jaffacake2 · 18/07/2010 21:54

Long Tall Sally do some nice shoes,my daughter has slim size 9-10 feet and shops there. Also new look does size 9s.

apple99 · 18/07/2010 21:59

Aldo have a good selection and go upto a 9.

Bingtata · 18/07/2010 21:59

I always get mine from Next, it is the easiest place to get 43's from and my feet are also narrow.

funnysinthegarden · 18/07/2010 22:01

wow, you must be really tall......?Or just have big feet. Sorry, no constructive advice, just marvelling at your big feet. I am size 6/7 and that seems outsize in some shops. LK Bennett is NOT for me!

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 18/07/2010 22:04

Wow thanks!!

Never thought to look in places like Next or topshop as always thought they'd just stop at size 8 like everywhere else. Where I live is a bit crap for shopping TBH, but not so crap we don't have the basic high street shops.

One very happy bunny here, looking forward to a spot of shoe shopping next pay day.

funnysinthegarden I'm above average in height, but not mega tall, just have BIG feet (my fingers are long and slim too though so all in proportion).
Actually I like it in the UK where I'm only (ha) a size 9. In NZ and Aussie I'm a size 11!!!

Try next online - check out free delivery codes on MN first though

FanjolaLansbury · 18/07/2010 22:29

Have you tried tallgirls.co.uk? Got some shoes from the mens section for large footed DH and they were great. Keep getting sent the girls catalogue now and they have some lovely things.

PlumSykes · 18/07/2010 23:08

have a look here

Bishoplyn · 18/07/2010 23:37

Hi. I'm size 9 as well and can only echo what a huge pita it is.
Now is a good time to find some reductions in Next. My local Next clearance store can be a gold mine. Didnt know Top Shop and New Look do Size 9
I've also ordered a few pairs recently from Amazon.
Barrats do a Small and Tall range - only shops in big towns stock these but smaller stores will order for you. I find their fitting quite small though and often have to go up a size.

Tootiredforgodtyping · 18/07/2010 23:45

brantano go up to a size 11

MaineGirl · 19/07/2010 08:46

new looks 9 is a 42 which is technically an 8 in most stores i beleive. i am a 42 and hate that i can't jusdt buy an 8 as some stores that means a 41 which is too small. like you i am slightly above average height but just have big feet, was a 7 until my first pregnancy.

domesticsluttery · 19/07/2010 08:55

I have size 8.5 feet, so sometimes need an 8 and sometimes need a 9.

I buy a lot in Brantano, and find it strange that they stock a lot of Clarks shoes in a 9 when in my local Clarks shop the assistant looks down her nose at me and says that "ladies shoes don't come in a size 9".

Evans go up to a 10 or an 11, but they are so wide that I can practically fit both feet in one shoe!

I'm not tall either, about 5'6. Have just got big/long hands and feet!

MaineGirl · 19/07/2010 11:23

clarks sell a few 9's online. not sure about in store but evans do sell standard fit as well as wide fit so might be worth a look, also simp, ybe do a standard fit.

bounty007 · 19/07/2010 15:14

exact same as you Nomore big, narrow feet. Total PITA. I find sales are best time to go shoe shopping (like today), as all the 9's are on display and v cheap. just bought a beautiful pair of jane shiltons for £25 reduced from £110 in large department store.

squirrel42 · 19/07/2010 15:29

Same problem here too - I live in Converse (when I can get away with them) because they're so easy to get in nice colours but big sizes! My last "work" shoes were Hush Puppies from Jones.

Everyone used to suggest Evans but when you've got narrow but long feet they fall out of even normal width shoes, let alone the extra wide ones they mostly do!

TrillianAstra · 19/07/2010 16:07

MaineGirl - I feel your pain - I am a 41 which is either 7 or 8 and fashiony shops often don't tell you at all.

Men's 7s are ALWAYS a 41, weirdly.

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 19/07/2010 17:07

Gee Bounty good work! I usually find sales to be the worst time to find shoes as all the size 9s sell out first.

My local Clarks is very good at ordering shoes in, if there are still any 9s left of course. Don't always want Clarks though. Had heard Brantano sells Clarks, but nearest one is Perth or Glasgow, so there goes any savings just by getting there!

Oh and La Redoute are good too...

here

JamAndPeanutButter · 20/07/2010 13:01

I think Faith do some styles up to a 9... although, as in most places, they tend to be the more orthopaedic-looking styles... because of course nobody with feet bigger than a 6 has any interest wearing in pretty shoes

JamAndPeanutButter · 20/07/2010 13:07
