I'm wearing this to a wedding in September.

I need ideas on what to wear with it, or how to wear it as I'm no spring chicken.

What shoes/bag?

I love a hat, what hat?? No hat?? (I have shortish hair).

Jewellery? I'm thinking just nice silvery earrings.

I'm also wondering about tights. I don't think bare legged is appropriate for a wedding (plus it might be chilly).

HELP! TIA.

Dress is GOREGOUS esp the sleeves. I would not cover up with a jacket unless freezing. I would go for black (or is the dress navy, my eyes are tired!!) suede shoes, but I am very conservative!!

Monty100 · 16/07/2010 18:41

Lou - 'ands 'orf lol.

Amother - it's navy blue.

I'm definitely on the road to glittery SPARKLY!

I think black/navy shoes would be safr but not too clunky - poss strappy? But that makes tights difficult. You'll just have to amke sure your legs are brown! Can you do a peep-toe ankle strap with a bit of a platform? That way tights are ok.

Monty100 · 16/07/2010 18:42

Amother - actually, you've hit the nail on the head, I don't really want to cover the arms up. It would be wrong.

lou33 · 16/07/2010 18:47

i agree jajas, i was just thinking in case it was a bit chilly

Monty100 · 16/07/2010 18:53

The mother of the bridge is my bf and is going bare legged.

My pegs are ok fake baked so I might do if it's warm. I find heels more comfortable if wearing tights tho.

I was thinking tan flesh coloured tights, nice shiny ones to go with sparkly theme lol.

Mmmm, I'd have to get the tone really right with tights and sparkly.

Being embellished the dress needs to shine and not be competed with IYKWIM. No to fascinator. I larfed when saw Cyb's post about Aintree. I had been thinking the same. Bare legs if they are good and tanned and weather is warm. With closed toes/tights if not good.

lou33 · 16/07/2010 18:59

mother of the bridge?

is she a big girl then?

Monty100 · 16/07/2010 19:01

'Fat birds at Aintree'

I read that as the mother of the bride is my boyfriend. Took me a moment or two, but I'm with you now!

Monty100 · 16/07/2010 19:49

Fellatio - indeed. lol.

Taupe shoes?

WhatsWrongWithYou · 16/07/2010 23:43

Cute navy?

bellabelly · 16/07/2010 23:54

I would go for a hat just because I love hats. Dress def has a late 60s/early 70s feel so I'd go for a floppy hat likethis - n ot sure about the colour though - would prefer black. Huge pair of black sunglasses would look cool too!

Monty100 · 17/07/2010 20:57

WWWY - both of those shoes are lush.

Bella - I'm loving the hat and glasses look. A white one might work.

SagacityNell · 17/07/2010 21:00

i LOVE that dress! Where is from?!

No hat, infact no hair accessories at all. stud earrings if you have to wear them and nude shoes or v light beigey.

Monty100 · 17/07/2010 21:16

Saga - thank you, it's French Connection.

Monty, I've got the taupe shoes and they are fab - high enough to look like you've still got it going on but the platform means they're not too crippling.

DH saw the navy ones the other day when I was looking at the website, and wanted me to get some 'for round the house!'

Monty100 · 17/07/2010 23:39

WWWY - rofl at 'for round the house' oh bless him .

Yep, I'm deffo going heels.

Agree with Bellabelly - that hat style is ace, and more appropriate for the dress shape than me beret idea. Given that it's difficult/unnecessary to accessorise with jewellery it would be nice to have an 'at.

Thinking about the grandfather being barbecued at his funeral has just reminded me of another two incidents when I started laughing uncontrollably, and just could not stop - for what felt like hours, even though it was excrutiatingly awful. One was when I was about 15 and my best friend told me her Grandad had died (WTF is wrong with me? I need shooting. Or locking up with the Archbishop's envoy.)

The other was when I was visiting my FIL in hospital recently and a very old, shambling, confused old man came walking towards me on his way to the bathroom with his willy hanging out of his pyjamas.
