Day One - Vaping

At midnight I quit smoking. I have a Fresh Cog starter kit with 30ml of 16MG cappuccino flavoured liquid. It's not the best - USB charger and only cost £30 but it seems to do the job.

Im completely new to vaping. I enjoy it but it's nothing on a cigarette. I seem to be vaping non-stop too as I REALLY want a cigarette (have been smoking for ten years, on tobacco for the last five). I don't understand all the terminology and things you can buy - to me it's battery, liquid, mouthpiece.

I want to be completely nicotine free in a year when DP and I start trying for baby #3 so any help or advice is very much appreciated. I'm at home all the time (chronic illness, DD1 off from school with bad tonsillitis & work from home) so I'm not used to going without.

I use about 20ml a week of 18mg. I was on 15 golden virginia a day.

sheandlifex · 10/06/2014 20:18

So in the early stages going by how much I'm vaping I'd probably demolish a 30ml bottle of 16mg fluid (the cappuccino flavour I have now is brilliant but only goes up to 16mg - maybe a stronger fluid would have me vaping less but, eh). That's £10 per week compared to £40. Add in DP's one pack of 50g tobacco and we're saving £20.

Hopefully this new clearomiser will be enough to see me the month (not sure how quickly this will go).

I seem to be vaping a LOT. Like, almost constantly but it's only day two and I figure it's not making me sick and stopping me smoking real cigarettes so I'll worry in a month or two.

Most people vape more often than they smoked. There is nowhere near as much nicotine in it and it's absorbed a lot more gently - you don't get the big sudden 'hit' that you get from a fag. I think it barely left my hand for the first couple of weeks Grin

I've calmed down a lot but still vape much more frequently than I used to smoke if I'm somewhere it's allowed. On the other hand, I find it much easier to go without for extended periods if I have to.

Day 3 and still going. Probably saved myself 120 rollies or more by this point. Struggling today - I want something else but I don't know what it is. I don't think it's a cigarette as DP is asleep with the tobacco beside him and I'm not tempted but there's something I can't put my finger on.

Vaping a lot still. It barely leaves my hand but I'm off to see if I can get another battery today as putting this one on charge hurts me emotionally. I can't be without it right now.

Bought another kit today. I now have two batteries, two clearomisers and a spare, two USB chargers, 10ml of citrus fluid, 10ml of tobacco fluid and 30ml of cappuccino liquid.

This tobacco one tastes like the scent fake tan leaves behind. Like buttery biscuits and the colour orange Confused

You're doing brilliantly! and it looks like you've got the beginnings of shineyitis

What brand is the tobacco liquid? Most of them are a bit rank.

ineedausername · 11/06/2014 20:42

i just can't get on with the tobacco flavoured one :(
so i ordered custard flavour :)

Raia · 11/06/2014 21:59

Custard is my fave!

ineedausername · 11/06/2014 22:35

I'm loving my coconut, caramel and Hazelnut honey just now, it's lovely!

sheandlifex · 11/06/2014 23:46

COCONUT? Where can I buy it?!

Vivid is one (not great but all they had at local shop) & the 30ml cappuccino is by FreshCig.

I can see me definitely getting shinyitis. I have a shopping problem and with extra money? I'm dangerous!

First clearomiser just died. I hoped it'd last longer but burnt tasting cappuccino? Not fun.

Allergictoironing · 12/06/2014 06:10

The burnt taste can sometimes be just on the wick rather than the clearo packing up, so try giving the clearo a good clean - look up "cleaning CE4" on YouTube for some decent guides & instructions.

ineedausername · 12/06/2014 06:27

It's from the Alchemists cupboard :)

sheandlifex · 12/06/2014 12:49

I'm going to have to order one. Would you recommend the 18mg or 24mg?

OP posts:
ineedausername · 12/06/2014 12:56

I only use 18mg just now :) but I would definitely recommend it.

I actually bought the sample pack of 5 x 10ml for £19.99

I have a few 18MG & my favourite tasting is a 16MG. They're doing me fine even though I'm chaining it a lot. Worth getting a 24MG do you think or sticking to 16-18?

OP posts:
ineedausername · 12/06/2014 15:46

In my opinion, I wouldn't go up in strength if you are managing on 16/18mg, but I'm just a newbie too!
1 week ciggie free!

sheandlifex · 12/06/2014 16:02

Congratulations! I can't wait to hit a week! I've REALLY surprised myself. Had some terrible news these past two days with family issues and a big massive debt bill I didn't know existed and I still haven't touched a cigarette.

ineedausername · 12/06/2014 17:11

We actually stopped on Sunday the 1st, then someone crashed into our car, (me and my son were ok) and wrote it off. We smoked for 2 days (my nerves were shot!) and then officially stopped again on Weds the 4th.
I have amazed myself. I have never been thus successful before :)

sheandlifex · 12/06/2014 19:22

WOW! I'm so glad you're both ok. That must have been absolutely terrifying. Well done on doing so bloody well! It's brilliant smashing your own records!

OP posts:
PlentyOfPubeGardens · 12/06/2014 19:36

You're both doing really well!

sheandlifex · 13/06/2014 12:41

I'm finding it more and more difficult as the days pass rather than easier. Is this normal? All I've heard is that after day 3 it starts to get easier but on day 5 I'm still struggling.

OP posts:
ineedausername · 13/06/2014 13:22

Have you got a different flavour you could pop in?
There are times I still crave a real fag, but I do know it will be smelly, will make me smell and taste gross lol!
You can do this! Think how far you have came already...
Plus, you know you'll feel bad afterwards if you so have one.
Go and make yourself busy :)

sheandlifex · 13/06/2014 14:59

I've been demonising cigarettes for four days so I decided to try one to see what it is I think I'm missing.

Absolutely nothing. When you've been smoking sweet flavoured liquid for days tobacco tastes damn foul. No thanks.
