Hooray to getting our own space (within giving up smoking).

Flowers & Wine (gin) to MNHQ for giving us this space.

I'm hoping some of our most knowledgeable vapers are going to start threads about specific aspects of vaping.

Thank you Smile

pinkrocker · 31/01/2015 16:37

I have never changed a coil. I wash all the gubbins out with boiling soapy water and rinse like crazy and leave to dry on kitchen roll.
Am I a minger? Grin

DiaryOfAWimpyMum · 31/01/2015 19:13

I think I'll take mine to the shop when it needs changed, I spoke to the man today (he's gonna think I'm a stalker) and he explained because I have just stopped I'm on 2.4% nicotine for 6 weeks then I go to 1.8% and work my way down from there.

I didn't expect stopping smoking to affect my sleeping but I had a terrible night last night waking up lots and having very strange/vivid dreams, then was wide awake at 7am. Confused

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 31/01/2015 19:59

he explained because I have just stopped I'm on 2.4% nicotine for 6 weeks then I go to 1.8% and work my way down from there.

Only if you want to. You're in charge of how fast you reduce the nicotine or if you want to go nicotine free at all. Some people want to get to 0% as soon as possible - it's important for them to be rid of the habit altogether. Others cheerfully carry on at the same nicotine level for years. I started on 1.8 and I'm still on 1.8 over a year later. I don't feel there's any reason to reduce it particularly and it means I'm a lot more relapse-proof Smile If you want to reduce more gradually you can buy some 1.8 and some 2.4 and mix them together. Well done, you're doing fantastically well! Flowers

pink, how long have you been using the same coil and do you still get much vapour or flavour off it? Are you dry burning? I had one that lasted 5 months with weekly dry burning and rewicking.

MeganChips · 31/01/2015 21:06

I have been lurking on these threads for ages and now I have been cigarette free for 4 weeks so I thought I'd join in.

I bought an e-cig The One kit back in August and was dual fuelling until the new year when I went electric only.

My e-cig kit battery has now died on me so I have bought a Vision spinner and I've just ordered an Aspire mini nautilus clearo which I'm hoping will give me a better hit. I left my job to start another on Wednesday and was given Amazon vouchers. I'm sure my old boss would be thrilled I've put them to good use, he always used to tell me off for smoking!

I am currently vaping a mix of 70/30 watermelon, gummi bear and cutters choice flavour juice. 24mg though which feels a bit high but 18 isn't really doing it for me.

I am loving it so far. DH stopped cold turkey at the same time as I began vaping. He is getting wider and has been bad tempered, I've been fine but it does feel a bit like cheating! I am quite severely asthmatic and the change has been astounding.

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 31/01/2015 21:48

Yay, well done Megan that's fantastic! Flowers Sounds like you could do with an 18 and a 24 in the same flavours so you can mix them.

magimedi · 31/01/2015 22:53

Well done, megan

I have had my mini nautilus for 2 weeks & love it dearly - possibly even more than I love DH (after nearly 30 years of marriage!)

plenty I'm not sure, I've got starter kits from e-cig wizard from last June and assorted stuff from elsewhere, I just rotate them after washing!
Could you tell me where I should get wicks from? Is it easy to change?

DiaryOfAWimpyMum · 01/02/2015 12:38

Thanks for your advice plenty Smile

There is an ad on TV just now with a vape and it shows you how to change in 7 seconds (or something) it looks quite good,I'm going to google some of your vapes just out of pure nosiness, I quite like this EVOD though.

Did any one else have bad or vivid dreams or is that just my crazy mind? Grin

DiaryOfAWimpyMum · 01/02/2015 12:42

Yes the nautilus looks good! I'll stick with this just now but may change over, I find it quite difficult to see how much liquid is in this one.

diary I like the look of that too!

DiaryOfAWimpyMum · 01/02/2015 13:52

I still cough a little bit now and then, I think it's down to how you inhale it, I also cough a lot when the battery is running flat (I think).

Pink It looks like a good one, I'm going to try write down the name of it, next time I see it. I need a good sturdy one like my chrome one as I seem to drop it a lot. clumsy

magimedi · 01/02/2015 14:03

littlelights When I started vaping I coughed & coughed. You have to draw much slower & smaller puffs. It's very different from smoking a cig.

DiaryOfAWimpyMum · 01/02/2015 14:07

this is the one I have

DiaryOfAWimpyMum · 01/02/2015 14:14

I'm a bit obsessed with vaping atm if you couldn't tell already

ClashCityRocker · 01/02/2015 14:16

Well, a week and a half on and whilst i still have the odd cig (nicked from DH...he may have to start hiding them Grin) I haven't actually bought any.

I bought ten different flavours to try - so far my favourites is refreshers and also rhubarb and custard. Do not like purple violets at all, but most have been palatable.

Because I've been chopping and changing, not sure how much I've smoked so far - possibly about 15 ml, so reckon 10 ml a week.

I've been cleaning it out as best I can and haven't noticed any deterioration yet, so hopefully the coils will last at least a couple of weeks.

magimedi · 01/02/2015 14:27

10 ml a week is not a lot, CLash & don't worry about the odd cig. It took me a couple of weeks before I vaped exclusively.

I was 'relived' that a vape & coffee had the right effect in the mornings, however. That was the cig I was worried about giving up.

Sorry if TMI!

How many cigs a day did/do you smoke.

What nicotine level are you on?

I smoked 20 Gold Vag rollies a day & started on 18mg liquid.

OP posts:
ClashCityRocker · 01/02/2015 16:44

No magi I know exactly what you mean!

Think I'm on 12 mg nicotine at the minute - but I was always quite a variable smoker - so maybe five or six on a weekday, but at other times thirty a night if I'm 'out'.

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 01/02/2015 19:01

pink Could you tell me where I should get wicks from? Is it easy to change?
It depends what sort of coils you're using. Single bottom coils (e.g. the old original Evods and Protanks, GS-H2's) are easy enough if you have a steady hand and good eyesight. There's a tutorial here or search YouTube for 'evod recoil' or 'evod rewick' for lots of different people's methods. If you want to dry burn and rewick you can just use cotton wool, or those Muji organic cotton makeup pads are supposed to be the business.

Some people prefer silica wick, which is what most tanks have in them when you buy them. If you use this, you need to build a whole fresh coil around the wick as you can't thread it through without it disintegrating. It still only costs about 4p/recoil and, once you get the hang of it, it's as quick as dry burning. Stealthvape are good for wick and wire.

I wrote a tutorial on here ages ago, I'll see if I can dig it out ...

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 01/02/2015 19:03

here you go

Was it the Vype ePen? The trouble with those is they use pre-filled cartomisers which will work out very expensive. They also only come in 3 flavours and only 18mg (1.8%) and are not compatible with other brands, meaning you'd be locked into buying their refills. They might suit someone who just wants a bit of a step up from the cig-alikes but still wants everything to be hassle free.

pinkrocker · 01/02/2015 19:21

Thank you very much plenty !
And while I've got you, can you tell me if all this is okay, price wise and all fitting together-wise? (loving the little engraved extra bit on the aspire!)
