Dsd was with us yesterday and told us that at her mum has told her that at 18 her Dad must give her access to her "Government Trust Fund".

Apparently this is the account that my husband has that "the government put money into for me every month", according to his ex.

I nearly choked on my coffee. The "government" have put £500 in. My DH has put the other thousands of pounds in since DSC was born until now!

Ex is really so bitter and pathetic she has deliberately told DSC that this money is from the Government rather than her Dad.

Does anyone else's DH ex pull this shit?!

Sorry. I had to rant!

@Wheelerdeeler

When dsd saus this did you not put her right straight away? Honestly one sentence would have cleared it up
That's what I thought too.

No need to go along with the ex's lies.

@Frankola - my DS has one with around £1500 in (that’s what I think it was roughly last time I saw a statement anyway) and I’ve never added anything to do, that is the original £500 with interest added. So your SDD should have more than £500 in the one from the government and that one is hers when she is 18, regardless of anything her dad has saved separately

BadlyFormedQuestion · 04/11/2021 00:23

Do the government put money in these things every month? I don’t think so.

They put an initial sum in and that will have gathered interest whatever the parents did.

DS2 has one. I asked his dad for access purely so I could transfer it to an ISA for him. It’s his money. I think legally HE can do what he likes with it when he’s 18.

But I’m not a money grabbing nightmare. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Why do ex wives pull this sort of nonsense time and time again. Is there no end to their hard done by patheticness?

saraclara · 05/11/2021 18:31

Does the ex even know that he's added to it? Or does she think that only the govt £500 is in there?
