Erm this is a weird one?

I've been told by DH that he feels like I love my dog more than the rest of the family (him and his kids)....?!

I admit, I do love my dog an awful lot. I got him when I was going through a very bad time with depression, I was suicidal, on heavy ADs, seeing counsellors etc and I genuinely do credit him with saving my life at the time. I spend a lot of time out on walks with him and I found I enjoyed getting into training etc.., so I'd say essentially he is my hobby in a way.

I'm not really sure what to say to DH. I think he's being really weird about it, almost jealous of a pet? I obviously don't love the dog more than DH but I do coo over him more because DH is a human adult 😂. If I'm being honest here, I do love the dog more than his children (they weren't babies when we met) but I wouldn't ever say that to him and we have a perfectly good relationship, me and the kids. I'm not really sure what he wants me to do?!

I think its entirely possible to love your dog more than SKs at least. I love my dog and get a little upset if she gets hurt in the rough and tumble with SS, but i do care for my SS but i wouldn't call it love at this stage. I meet his needs and wouldnt see him hurt but i dont love him i dont think, but i love his dad.

She's currently above my partner and equal to our other (human) baby! Definitely more loved than the other kids.

I don't however love your dog more than I love my own. He's the centre of my universe and gives me squishy, sleepy, lab cuddles

I've never felt about any man what I did about my dog.

Aside from how beautiful your dog is, the only person I knew who definitely loved his dog more than any person was my father. I think we all accepted it - the dog didn't answer back, made no demands of him, was unconditionally accepting. My father was a very young German soldier in WW2 and had been captured and I think had PTSD all his life, but couldn't talk to anyone. So in his dog(s) he found the audience he wanted.

My daughter, 22, tells our cat, 15, every day how much she loves her. She says she loves me too, but definitely not with the same fervour.

Agree with everyone else who also loves your dog more than your husband!

My husband says I love my animals more than him (he is joking though) and I agree and say they are less needy and jealous. They also have their own voices and jump in to say why they are so much better than him.
