Do your partner's children have keys to your house/flat?
When did they get them?
Am I being a WSM to be uncomfortable that my partner's 11 y.o. is demanding would like a key to our flat?

Well I didn't give my DD a key to our place until she was 14/15 because she has form for losing every damn thing. And in all other respects she is a responsible, sensible, mature young woman.

I'm not sure I'm getting the need for a key. Surely an 11 year old shouldn't be wandering about from house to house without some kind of schedule? An adult should pretty much know where she is 24.7?

I'm with redhen and brd - a key is a practical tool to be used appropriately Wink

Neither my DD or DSS will have a key of their own for the foreseeable future - a spare will be cut for them to take on the odd occasion they need it - once we are assured that they are mature enough for the responsibility Wink

Under no circumstances would a key ever be in their possession while they were with their other parent - both exPs likely to believe that they would be perfectly let themselves into our home (after all, it's their DCs home too).
