Doesn't call me mummy!

I have a lovely DSD 8 and my DS 2 copies everything she does. He is calling me my name instead of mummy!

Not a moan just an observation of modern life in step families :)

Anyone else got any funny side effects from the blending (such a funny term that!)

It was just the same for me OP, he stopped when I totally refused to respond to Chelen and only answered to mummy. It's not nice but it shouldn't last.

DS 6 does the same on occasions, only he does it on purpose. He thinks it's great to call me by my real name, especially when talking to DSD. He says it with a little smirk.

My DD went through a long period of calling me by my first name, because DSC did that. She stopped after a while though and reverted to mummy. I think once she understood that I am not her siblings' mummy, she realised there was a difference and acted accordingly. I never minded it. She still sometimes calls me 'Mummy firstname'.

DS, who is normally fine with the traditional 'Mummy', decided to spend this morning calling me Cheeky Monkey!

No idea where he picked that phrase up from... Wink

I'm waiting for what's going to happen after I have my LO next year - my DSs have known me for 3 1/2 years (just over 2 yrs before I got together with their dad), so they call me by my first name.

The first time we visited my grandparents, my step gran took me to one side to ask what the boys called me and what the boys were going to call them, so I said that the boys knew them as what I normally call them (have always called my step gran by her first name as I was a stubborn little 7 y/o when she married by grandfather and I remembered my nanny). Now I'm expecting my own, we've had the discussion of who's going to be called what considering DP's mum is Nanna to all of her DGC (5 & counting), the boys already have Granny (DP's ex MIL) and my mum is going to be Mamgu (welsh for grandma) to my LO, so we agreed that my step gran will be called Nanny M to my LO (my cousin who's a lot younger than me already calls her that). I was a little surprised when she sent DSS1's birthday card last month signed as Nanny M, but I suppose that it will be better to try to sync everyone up sooner rather than later.

The fun of blended families & step relatives, eh?

My 3yo calls me "Pal" Hmm

"Thanks Pal"

"Can I have a banana Pal?"

My 5yo calls me "Mrs Parson, I mean Mrs Annette, I mean Mrs Mummy, I mean Mummy!"

My DS used to refer to everyone as a "he" including me - he just used to think that everyone was male. lol.

He would say things like my friends sister is a naughty boy or I like to play with him whilst referring to a girl at school etc.

Took me ages to get him to realise there are two sexes. He's 13 now and I think he is well aware of the differences now between girls and boys!
