So we've just found out that our baby who isn't born until March will need a ticket to accompany us to the Rugby World Cup matches that we have bought for September.

It's the Olympics all over again, anyone else think this sucks!

I don't think it's clear whether they are charging. I would make the assumption that they are charging a child's ticket price of £15 which is what they have been doing. x

Whichever way, fantastic news! I heard the customer service message myself earlier which is rather useful as the child ticket I purchased hasn't arrived despite paying £5 postage..... But thanks everyone for making so much noise about this issue and getting a fab result x

Blumchen · 18/09/2015 22:18

Just watched the opening game - well done England! I was trying to look in the crowd to see if I could see any babes in arms! Then decided to check this thread - an even better result!! A big BIG THANK YOU and well done to everybody who helped get this issue sorted. Hope everyone enjoys their matches xx

Sootybear123 · 19/09/2015 17:14

And her shirt came today, Woop, we are ready!

If they are free on the day I hope we get our £35 back that we shelled out for her to sit on our knee! Don't gete wrong I'm thrilled they are heading in the right direction, but it's still a lot of money for nothing!

rayzin · 19/09/2015 19:55

Hmmmm. Not quite according to plan... But well done Japan. You really opened up the pool. I hope I've got tickets for the right quarter final. Grrrrrr.

Hi everyone

As the person who started this thread back in JANUARY!?!? I'm over the moon at the fact that this (seemingly) is sorted.

When I first contacted customer services back in January (literally to check about baby changing facilities and whether we should make any special arrangements) I was gobsmacked to discover our (at the time unborn child) would need a ticket.

To then also be told that they couldn't sell us a single child ticket (there were still tickets to our games then) without an adult ticket really got my back up.

Anyway, I contacted various members of the press and started this thread. I'd presumed that, like the Olympics, this would get sorted pretty quickly. I still can't quite believe that the tournament has started and only now they've fixed it. (We hope)

It amazing that with breastfeeding such a big issue these days I was surprised that the press didn't run with this story earlier - Mummymiley whatever you did thank you.

Paul Williamson is the Director of Ticketing at England 2015 so after this is all done I think we should all write him a massive complaint letter expressing our disappointed with the way he has run the ticketing at England 2015. Btw, he was also Director of Ticketing at London 2012....you would have thought he'd have got this one right after all of the fuss with babies and the Olympics.

Again, thanks to everyone for your work on this topic.

Jonathan

If you call the Rugby World Cup ticket line +44 (0)161 971 2015 (which I just did), the recorded message says that baby tickets and tickets for babes in arms will be issued by the ticketing office on the day, so I expect that there has been a turnaround on this to allow babies free entry. Probably worth giving them a call to make sure though. See attached file for contact details.

Well, I had a message on my phone from customer services calling me back where they said I can get a babes-in-arms ticket on the day for free. So I'll be keeping that message for replay on the day just in case. Lol.

ali252 · 21/09/2015 09:11

So we went to our first game yesterday with our 6 month old. Admittedly it was Wembley and not Twickenham but nobody even bothered to check the ticket that I'd bought for her. My husband had her in the front carrier so just scanned his ticket at the barrier and the block stewards couldn't have been less bothered - what a huge debacle about such a non-issue. Agree that we should all write and complain about how abysmally this whole thing has been handled....

NoManJan · 22/09/2015 15:15

Just checking back in. We went to the Samoa V USA match on Sunday - the stewards didn't care less about the baby having a ticked and just cooed at her when we walked in.

Glad they've had a turn around and baby tickets are now free but disappointed it took so blooming long. A lot of people, including myself, bought tickets for no reason. I will definitely be writing to Paul Williamson - he definitely should have learn from the Olympics! If anyone has the details I would be very grateful.

Sootybear123 · 24/09/2015 11:29

For those that have been, what sort of food options were there? Just the standard burger vans or anything nicer?

Ememem84 · 24/09/2015 11:54

At Wembley there were the flowing options in the fanzone

Mexican,
Pies,
Fish n chips
Pizza
Hotdogs
Noodles

ali252 · 24/09/2015 11:57

Sootybear123- depends which stadium you're at. Twickenham should have its usual line-up of vans offering pretty much everything from Fish & Chips to pulled pork rolls etc. Wembley had mostly fried stuff - burgers and Fish & chips etc. as all their food venues are in-house. Can't speak for the others....

6 more sleeps!

Sootybear123 · 29/09/2015 17:32

Just thought I'd give our experience at Elland Road...

Everyone was fab with her - ticket office gave us a baby ticket no issues, got to the turnstiles and the supervisor called us to the front and took us in a door rather than squeezing through. Seats were a squeeze but she enjoyed it and everyone around us thought she was adorable with her rugby shirt and ear defenders.

Good weekend all round with two excellent matches!

rayzin · 29/09/2015 18:55

ONE MORE Sleep!!! Makarapa ready, face paint ready! Me ready!!!
