So we've just found out that our baby who isn't born until March will need a ticket to accompany us to the Rugby World Cup matches that we have bought for September.

It's the Olympics all over again, anyone else think this sucks!

I was on my local look north last night and literally as soon as it was over I got a call from Prin Gallagher who is Head of Ticketing and he sorted me child tickets for the 5 matches I needed.

He has assured me that they will help everyone in the same situation and they will issue child tickets and will not charge you adult prices!!

I know it's really frustrating waiting on the line but you need to call customer services on 03330032015 and explain your situation. If anyone says they can't help ask them to send your details onto Prin Gallagher as he has made that guarantee!!

Good luck everyone! Please let me know if anyone is still really struggling x

rayzin · 17/09/2015 10:04

Hmmmm... thats the same "Prin Gallagher" who told me that he CANNOT help. Grrrrrrrr.

I was only helped for 1 game AFTER I asked the you and yours show to pass my details on to the PR guy from RWC that they quoted on the show we were on.

I'm still looking to swap a full price Cat A ticket for a child ticket. Maybe I'll give Prin another call.

@quietlaugh - As far as I can tell (for now anyway) - You no longer need to have an extra ticket in the SAME area as your other tickets as they won't have an issue with babes-in-arms once you are inside the stadium.
Which game is it by the way? - France/Ireland?

@ali252 - Definitely not an old post. - In fact its really picking up momentum now ;-)

@NoManJan - Yes its definitely a huge shame that we've had to resort to buying foll priced tickets. Had I known the sitting together thing would not have been an issue I would have at least hunted down a cat D adult ticket. The one I bought which will be empty is right on the half-way line 6 rows from the front. :-( - what a waste!

Oh well.... I guess I'll give customer services another call today... its not like I don't have anything better to do.... Grrrrrrrrrrrr.

NoManJan · 17/09/2015 11:46

Apparently I should get a baby sitter. Or if I'm still breastfeeding, I shouldn't go!

NoManJan · 17/09/2015 11:48

Rayzin - it seems everyone was told different things. Some people were told the tickets had to be in the same area.

I'm going to the Samoa vs USA game on Saturday...anyone else?

rayzin · 17/09/2015 12:02

@NoManJan - Don't bother feeding the trolls on forums. - There's no way in hell that I come to a foreign country and dump my child with a stranger, what's more dangerous a stranger you don't know... or some noise and excitement? My littler girl is the liveliest most outgoing little 10 month old you'll ever meet and a live game is right up her alley in terms of things she would find fascinating.

Anyhoo... they DEFINITELY cannot enforce the same area rule as they provided me with a child ticket that is not even the same category. AND told me over and over again that it's not a real seat and we cannot use it. It's just to get us in the stadium.

SO... maybe those chops should all get on the same page!

rayzin · 17/09/2015 12:04

Just busy reading the article! - "A mother called Rayzin told Mumsnet"
Bwahahahahaha. my wife would be very surprised to find out that I'm also a mother!

NoManJan · 17/09/2015 13:23

I have bought some ear defenders just in case as she's only small still (8 weeks) and is startled quite easily. Her being strapped to me with milk on demand if she needs it is the best place she could be...hopefully it will be the start of being a lifelong rugby fan.

Congratulations on becoming a mother by the way Grin

Mummymiley · 17/09/2015 13:44

Definitely don't pay attention to the trolls! After bring on bbc5live yesterday I've them on my back!! The best was saying someone needs to send social services round to my house!

Clearly we are all terrible parents wanting to take our children to a rugby match!

Sootybear123 · 17/09/2015 16:50

Not had a call from the head of ticketing yet - is it worth calling customer services myself? What did you say to get them to sell you child tickets? Every time I've tried previously I've just been told no...

Sootybear123 · 17/09/2015 18:08

Sorted! We had to pay but we are sorted!

For anyone else, I really recommend ringing customer services. I was on hold for 45 mins (!!), explained the situation. Was told they couldn't sell me a ticket as the games were sold out. So I explained the Prim Gallagher has said that everyone in this situation will be sorted out and that if the customer services person can't help them out details are to be passed on to him. The guy went away to speak to someone and came back a few minutes later having miraculously found tickets. He said ignore the seat allocation she will be fine on our knees.

I'm annoyed we e had to pay £15 a match for her but at least we are sorted and we can finally look forward to going!

Mummymiley · 17/09/2015 18:36

Sootybear123 That is amazing news! I'm so glad it's worked for you I know there are several people that have tried today and still got nowhere!

Definitely mention Prin Gallagher when you call customer services and hopefully you will be sorted.

I have been contact by Sarah Hatchard from the Victoria Derbyshire programme BBC 2 and BBC News Channel live TV. She has asked me if I could see if anyone who is still without tickets might be interested in speaking to her as she would like to push the story some more for us. Her number is 020 361 43111

Would be great to get some more airtime to make sure they do sort everyone out with tickets. Good luck x

Woohoo! Thanks Maki. I've sent you my details as I still need a child ticket for 1 game.

Now... off to ebay to find some baby ear defenders! (Like they will stay on!)

ali252 · 17/09/2015 20:35

Great news that people are taking note and everyone is getting sorted for tickets. Sorry @Rayzin, was only looking at the 1st page of messages when I wrote so have been back and looked at all the recent stuff. Quite frankly I'm amazed at the luddite attitudes I've come across when it comes to this subject. I listened to the Radio 5 broadcast yesterday and nearly threw my laptop at the wall at the imbecilic comment about 'being selfish' for wanting to take your child to a Rugby Game. (awesome work @mummymiley for getting the right message out there. Rugby has always been about family and should absolutely stay that way. My daughter will be brought up with the game and will be taken to many games in future. I have also bought ear defenders but quite frankly, she'll probably love all the noise and activity. I hope everyone manages to get there. Good luck

Shovel78 · 17/09/2015 22:05

In the same boat as the rest of you guys. Completely ridiculous! We were so excited to gain tickets for Wales v Fiji on 1 Oct. We have 5 tickets; my husband and I are taking our 3 big kids who we obviously bought tickets for (no lap sitting for 12, 13 and 15 year olds quite clearly) but my 9 month old! What a joke, he will be in a sling on my lap. And at which point was anyone going to tell us that they would need a paid for ticket. Even worse is the hiding behind the bland excuse of being in the name of safety. Have all those venues that have permitted babes in arms previously flaunted their role in protecting us all; full airline flights which still have babies on laps, 6 nation games which are sold out but still have babies on laps. England 2015 need to provide a solution to this and fast as there current response is very discriminatory and unnecessary.

Shovel78 · 17/09/2015 22:15

Hi Maki79, thank you so much have just sent you a PM.

Well done to all those that have brought about a better outcome fingers crossed they can help me.

Much appreciated

Mummymiley · 18/09/2015 17:53

They will definetly be sorting tickets for all babies on the day!

What an achievement x

rayzin · 18/09/2015 18:04

Wow! You people all RULE! Nicely done!

panpipe · 18/09/2015 19:48

Fantastic work everyone! I'll give the phone line a call to double check the 'official' message but so glad I can now definitely go to our QF with 9wk old DS!

Sootybear123 · 18/09/2015 20:09

Amazing news! Are they still tickets to buy or are they for free?
