Resuming domestique duties Smile...we've raced away from the broom wagon that is a miserable winter and the dudes are up and racing on the Continent.

Milan-San Remo is first up with Cav looking to get his first race win of the season and with Petacchi and Renshawe in his lead out train (and one climb removed for safety reasons) this is where he could do it. It's live on Eurosport with highlights on Euro and Sky.

There are six other one-day classics before the Irish Giro in May, so rather than doing all the research, I'd commissioned the Beeb to do it for me!
So here is a nifty guide to all of them in one easy go

The Irish Giro may get a bit of pure local interest traffic, so I'd started a new thread just for that celebration of all that is green, lycra and on two thin wheels, here...The Irish Giro

I forgot, of course, we need a CAAAAAAAAAAV Grin

PansBigChainring · 27/04/2014 22:30

And Cav came from well back, slalomed a bit and stuck his wheel out well. He is "SUPER-happy". No mention of Renshawe or Petacchi at all - wondered where they were.

And yes for Gerrans. I always look out for the OGE funster results. He def. didn't run out of biscuits! Dan Martin - ooch!

Looks like quite a few of our heroes are dodging the Giro, for Le Tour. Shame.

"Paul, it's like someone just pulled a catapult"

Any excuse to re-live Paris 2010, with Cav and Petacchi going for it.

LostInWales · 27/04/2014 23:03

That was brilliant to re-live! I remember that like it was yesterday, in my kitchen with my Bil going 'where is Cav, he's not there' then from the right of the screen vroooom and there was no one else in the race.Grin Happy days.

PansBigChainring · 27/04/2014 23:08

I know! "There he goes, over the top, someone just launched him and forget it!" Smile

Enjoyed that link Smile

Also have great memories from TdF 2012 with Wiggo resplendent in yellow leading out Cav at full gas to win the final sprint in Paris. Wonderful stuff.

LostInWales · 28/04/2014 07:24

That was a great day Drama, felt very proud to be British seeing that, well until Lesley Garett started to sing Grin

DramaAlpaca · 28/04/2014 09:56

Lesley Garrett!! Aaarrgh!! I'd managed to banish that to the back of my memory Grin. But yes, very proud to be British that day.

PansBigChainring · 28/04/2014 15:17

It was a great time wasn't it? Despite being a Scot of Irish republican descent, that and the Olympics Opening ceremony days later made me come over a little patriotic!
Brad was fab that day. And I too had erased LG from my memory banks...Smile

PansBigChainring · 28/04/2014 21:57

And there was another excellent bunch sprint. Just about text book conduct with all of the lead outs in a line.

OP posts:
DramaAlpaca · 29/04/2014 10:51

All the lead outs in nice neat lines, then it all got a bit hairy going round that left hand bend before they all sorted themselves out again Grin. Good to watch.

PansBigChainring · 29/04/2014 14:09

Aaawwwww!!

HowGoodIsThat · 30/04/2014 19:12

That is cute - but it is slightly scary how much she looks like him!

Panwearsrosa · 30/04/2014 19:35

I didn't notice that. Was distracted by the dog wandering round saying "Well that's all fine, but what about my walkies, eh?"

DramaAlpaca · 30/04/2014 21:02

So excited - DH & I are going to Belfast & Dublin for the Giro!!! Grin Grin

Just booked a hotel in Belfast for two nights at vast, rip-off expense and will visit DH's cousins in Dublin on the Sunday because the race goes right past their front door.

In the meantime, I'm enjoying catching up with events in Romandie & Turkey every evening.

Panwearsrosa · 30/04/2014 21:08

Oh good for you!! As dd would say, 'I am well gel.' ( I do wince each time she says it, but I think I am supposed to..)

chainring - it's been behaving itself a bit recently -played with the adjusters- but with Giro next week one simply had to show support. Have asked HQ for a rosa smiley too!

DramaAlpaca · 30/04/2014 21:13

A rosa smiley would be great. We'll have to ask them for a yellow jersey emoticon for the Tour as well.

I'll be 'well gel' when you UK based lot are all off to the Tour de Yorkshire Smile

LostInWales · 30/04/2014 21:37

Oh I am SO wel gel too. Sadly I will be going to Barcelona the weekend after so it's a no go for me. Such a hard life Grin.

That Cav's little girl is just fabulous. Must feel amazing knowing she is wathcing and cheering him on. I have forgiven Peta for stealing him away from me as she is treating him well. I'm nice like that. He's ridden so well this week Smile

DramaAlpaca · 30/04/2014 21:47

How can you possibly be wel gel Lost? You're off to Barcelona!!

Cav's little one is so like him it's ridiculous Smile

LostInWales · 30/04/2014 22:17

It had better be bloody amazing to make up for not seeing the tour or giro when they are near by!

Panwearsrosa · 30/04/2014 22:30

Barcelona. Poor you.Grin

Of course you could trip a little north (even for the day) to the beautiful, walled city of Girona and check where so many riders live! I'm sure by now there will be a Millars Bar. Shorely.

LostInWales · 01/05/2014 07:21

Oooh, I could Grin.

Panwearsrosa · 01/05/2014 21:44

Turkey and Romandie aside...in the intermission before the Giro, here is my Chris Boardman hybrid that I love, and gets me round so much with no complaints on a rare forage into the lounge.

Panwearsrosa · 02/05/2014 18:40

HQ are asking for a thread in Site Stuff to see if there is enough interest in a rosa smiley/emocion/jersey to celebrate the Giro in Ireland. They weren't generally aware of the event. I'm happy to do that later, unless anyone is happy to do that sooner than me?

LostInWales · 02/05/2014 21:26

Go for it, is it time to lead from the front once more? Grin

Nice bike btw, I am having proper bike envy, I think now my boys are growing up (and have lovely bikes of their own) it might be time for me to take the bloody child seat off mine and get some miles on the tyres.
