So I've had this verucca for 7+ years. GP says to home treat or wait until my body fights it. Since November I've used numerous things. Filed it , dug at it ( I know I shouldn't don't judge please ) i got a tape that is medical like gaffer tape to suffocate it too. But I'm so heavy footed it doesn't stay in place. I have one the same on the other foot too.

Give me your tips I'm desperate. I go abroad in Aug and I need it gone.
I've tried
Gaffer tape , it just comes off
The medical tape , can't remember the name
Bazucca extra strength gel
Bazucca freeze stuff
Boots freeze stuff

That's also the only areas i get hard skin a bit so makes it more difficult to sort.

Recently got rid of my daughters. It was huge and had been there for months. Dr Scholls verucca patches with sports tape wrapped round. Leave on for 48 hrs, remove, soak and file. The filing is the important bit! Gone in a week 🙌🏼

zeddybrek · 22/03/2026 23:07

Both kids have had them and the only thing that worked for us was to cut them out as much as possible with clean nail clippers and keep cutting them back. They were old enough to do it themselves. DS only had to do it the once and DD did it a few times over a week or so.

mais · 22/03/2026 23:09

I had a large one for years and years, like you nearly every tape came off. Some years I'd go at it & some years I'd leave it alone. What eventually worked was banana skin as mentioned above but I used kinesiology tape to hold it in place. Left it on day and night, putting a fresh piece every morning and night. It disappeared quite quickly, bits started falling off.

Podiatrists often use silver nitrate. You can buy it online. Just take care not to stain everything!

After 10+ years of suffering from a stubborn verruca, this was the only thing that worked for me and finally got rid of it...

Bikenutz · 22/03/2026 23:29

I tried various things including a chiropodist freezing them off but they still came back.

what worked for me was Bazooka extra strength, and ignoring the pack instructions: I applied it to the Verucca every day without fail. I never touched, peeled or filed it. It got large, dry and white and a bit more uncomfortable to walk on. Eventually the skin fell apart leaving clear undamaged skin underneath.

msmillicentcat · 22/03/2026 23:37

I took my daughter to a chiropodist who gave us silver nitrate. Brilliant - gone within a week. Stains on sheets stay forever though 🤣

elfendom1 · 22/03/2026 23:48

You can actually pul them out, if you have a good pain threshold. Clear all the surrounding crud, use a small scalpel (disinfected) to make small incisions around it and then grabbing the inside with a tweezers and pulling it out. Gone for good, you'll know it worked if it leaves a little clean crater in the foot. However most of them actually do go away of their own accord.

FrankieMcGrath · 22/03/2026 23:57

I need to try some of these methods!

Ccgag · 23/03/2026 01:50

I would go to a professional.

Strangesally20 · 23/03/2026 02:07

My 5 year old had a huge one, nothing worked, we tried for months and it just got bigger and bigger, £50 podiatrist a scalpel and some silver sorted it out in 2 sessions, well worth having it removed privately.

Gluedtogether · 23/03/2026 02:15

You could try a wart charmer. It won't hurt and it might work.
It worked for my mother many, many years ago and she wasn't at all superstitious.

whiteboard · 23/03/2026 02:37

Are you wrapping the tape right round your foot so it tapes onto itself? Sticking it on like a plaster and expecting it to stay in place while you’re walking won’t work.

Silver nitrate, tape and thuja all done at a chiropodist over 3 sessions sorted out the first huge one I ever had which had been painful for months as it was right on the ball of my foot.

The second one I had was persistent. I would use Bazuka or similar and dig the roots out myself with a razor. But it never fully went away. Until one week it had just - gone. Eventually your body recognises it for what it is and your immune system kicks in and gets rid.

ihatethewordhubby · 23/03/2026 03:16

cut a circle of Gaffa tape - slightly larger than the verruca. Apply Super Glue to the circle and apply. You need very dry skin. It may then stay on for 24 hours. Works for me.

PotatoWafflesAndPeas · 23/03/2026 04:14

I hope you manage to remove it with the suggestions above. I used to suffer really badly with them, but the last 10 years whenever I swim, I spray my feet with sanitiser as below and give them a really good dry. No idea if it has any impact, but mine and my child's feet haven't had any issues since, and it can't hurt.

this stuff is magic & has worked for lots of people I know . A friend recommended to me for a huge painful verruca that my son had for over a year . It took 3 weeks but it totally removed it

I had the same and cleared in it a week with ….. tea tree oil. Neat tea tree oil. Soak it in it morning and night by dabbing the oil on with a cotton wool pad for a few days and it will completely disappear. 😊

tryandbepositive · 23/03/2026 05:49

Laser it. Costs about £80 a go and may need a couple of zaps but it kills the root and completely clears it

MimiSunshine · 23/03/2026 06:27

We’ve tried everything. The only thing that worked was H Wart. It’s not cheap and I’d recommend the larger bottle but within 3 to 4 weeks two big deep ones on my child’s foot and died off and could be removed / peeled off.

I had one years ago. I had it professionally frozen in the end. I also took a homeopathic remedy (thuya?). They are horrible. Sorry OP

AmbiguityIsKey · 23/03/2026 06:38

Salactol worked for me after 10 years of trying so many types of other stuff. Including professional needling. None of them helped even if I used regularly.

Salactol did take about 6 months but it just got smaller and smaller over the months which encouraged me to keep going. I shaved dead skin off with a razor blade every few days.

TimeDoesntStandStill · 23/03/2026 06:46

The tape thing worked here, i exhausted other treatments. But i had to buy a high quality gaffer tape from screwfix, i tried a generic one and it kept falling off.

It started working and was disgusting. Slowly changed to soft fungus like strands that i picked out with tweezers and reapplied new tape every 2 days. Absolutly skin crawling rank experience picking away those strands, it was as though the body was pushing it out, or it wasnt able to grow into the skin so was growing outwards, very strange.

But all done after a few weeks i think. This was the initial advice of a lovely pharmacist aftet I explained all i tried.

HappyLittleTreeFriend · 23/03/2026 06:56

Apple cider vinegar and wrapping with duct tape! Did this with one my DD had that wouldn’t go and it worked brilliantly! It was less than a week of doing it, I soaked it with vinegar in the morning and evening and covered with some heavy duty silver tape we’ve got that I would class as duct tape - worked really well!

HappyLittleTreeFriend · 23/03/2026 06:57

Oh and to add we did file it as well gently with a nail file, I think in between dressing it with the vinegar?? I can’t remember exactly now because it was a while ago, maybe I tried the filing before the vinegar - but if you Google apple cider vinegar verruca treatment then it’ll tell you, honestly try it, it did wonders!

MindfulSis · 23/03/2026 08:59

I had one and the bazucca extra strength got rid of it. But be strict with applying it as stated and don't miss a dose and mine went quite quickly.
