Can't get rid of this verruca!

Sorry it's a bit of a rubbish picture. I've been trying to get rid of this verruca for years, I've tried freezing (home and professional), apple cider vinegar for months on end, salicylic acid, corn plasters (thought it was worth a go), silver nitrate but still can't get rid of it. Yesterday I got fed up and tried to slice it off with a razor blade. It bled like there's no tomorrow, went straight through 5 layers of plasters, my socks etc. Just tried to clean the area again this morning and it looks like this. I don't know what else to try! Any suggestions?

Use a foot file on it every single day.

LizzeyBenett · 25/11/2023 09:38

Doesn't look like a verruca from that photo they usually have a dark spot in the middle ? Have you seen a dermatologist or GP about it ?

bibindum · 25/11/2023 11:23

Try covering it with black nail varnish, it's the only thing that I found to work.

WompingWillow · 25/11/2023 13:46

Thanks for the suggestions. @LizzeyBenett I've not seen a dermatologist or GP but have seen two podiatrists over the years who confirmed it's a verruca. It's had black spots in the past but since I sliced it yesterday the black spots aren't there anymore and it just has red spots and is a lump (not particularly visible lump in the picture but it's a lump irl).

I recently got rid of a cluster I had had for about twenty years having tried all the usual otc shit. I used nail varnish, just an old pale one. It went within a couple of weeks and was not messy or expensive or painful. It literally just "went"!!

elaeocarpus · 25/11/2023 14:18

What has worked for my DC has been freezing, followed by swab with neat tea tree oil, and taping ( around the foot to stay in place) with zinc oxide tape, repeat tea tree and tape daily. Refreeze weekly. Got rid of it in about a month after 6-9 months of trying salicylic acid and duct tape.

WompingWillow · 25/11/2023 20:31

For those who've tried nail polish, what did you do, just repeatedly paint it on or did you file each day and reapply? Sorry if that's a stupid question.

When my daughter had them, I was told to put duct tape on them. I was very sceptical but it worked!

solice84 · 25/11/2023 21:03

So
I had one on my foot for at least 10 years
Once I realised what it was I tried to get rid with no success and by doing that it spread to under my thumb nail too
Tried all sorts
Nothing worked
But I also have HPV and cell changes on my cervix and I've been ill with colds and chest infections etc etc etc this year
So I did some research and really tried to boost my immunity with a combination of vitamins etc
Annnnnnd
They've gone
I'm still paranoid they'll come back but they seem to have vanished
Hopefully my next smear will be clear but I won't hold my breath
Didn't even know veruccas were HPV until recently

NowYouSee · 25/11/2023 21:10

I’ve had them loads in the past. Tried every treatment and spent a fortune on professional freezing, using salytic acid at 40%, duct tape, nail polish, you name it. Rarely has anything worked permanently. Ultimately what has worked is fine and general boosting of the immune system. So unless it is causing you pain I would leave it alone and eventually it will go.

foobio · 25/11/2023 21:21

I finally got rid of a 3y stubborn one recently with the scholl patches. The plasters they come with are rubbish and slip around, so get a roll of plaster tape too to secure the patch.

Pixiedust1234 · 25/11/2023 21:39

I tried everything on mine over a couple of years and they never went. Turns out if you have an autoimmune condition they won't go easily eg Lupus, Fibromyalgia, Rheumatoid Arthritis etc.

I ended up having this new Swift treatment. Very expensive, very painful (at the moment of treatment), but it worked. It's one treatment a month for 3 months and it activates your immune system to work against the virus.

ThisHouseWillBeTheDeathOfMe · 25/11/2023 21:45

Now you've made it bleed that bad it will most likely go.

MikeRafone · 25/11/2023 21:52

verrucas as like water and need it to survive
Salicylic acid used to be used, but often it’s not strong enough solution - if you use it’s better to put take around the verrucca and put the acid onto just the black spots then tape over and keep dry for 7 days, then reapplie

Scarletttulips · 25/11/2023 21:56

You can buy plasters they have small dots of medication and they do work.

It looks like a small cluster to me

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 25/11/2023 21:56

A few years ago I had an awful time with the fuckers, a cluster of 5 under my left big toe. God they hurt.

I tried EVERYTHING. Absolutely the lot.

What eventually worked for me was a piece of duc tape on each one which I kept on for 6 days. On the 7th (sounds biblical Grin) I removed the tape, cleaned with tea tree oil then left it to breath with a sock on. Then next day back to the tape for 6 days and repeated the process. Took about 4 months to go. Practiced scrupulous hygiene throughout and always had at least a sock on.

Kaffeebitte · 25/11/2023 21:58

I got rid of a massive painful one with duct tape. Another one I’ve had longer is refusing to cooperate though.

pancakesunday · 25/11/2023 22:04

Essentially you need to cut off its oxygen supply so cover it in duct tape at all times and use a pumice stone on it every day. My son had a stubborn one and this worked after about a week

SwirlyShirly · 25/11/2023 22:04

The best way I ever got rid of a verucca was when I was about 10 years old and I dug it out with a pair of nail scissors. It hurt like hell, but left a most satisfying hole and never came back.

Notsandwiches · 25/11/2023 22:12

Caprylic acid capsules. I took them for candida and noticed my 20+ year old verucca had disappeared within a couple of weeks. Used them on my daughter and it killed off some warts she had. I believe its anti fungal.

Ragamuffin8 · 25/11/2023 22:14

I had a couple for years, home & professional treatments did nothing. Taking a multi vitamin & magnesium supplement sorted it in a few weeks and hasn’t returned in years. I was taking the supplements to improve my general health & this was a surprising and welcome side effect.

SwedishSchnauzer · 25/11/2023 22:16

Neat t tree twice a day for three weeks. Will turn black and fall off

Cookerhood · 25/11/2023 22:18

Unfortunately they will just go when they are ready & your immune system finally realised that they are there. I had a monster one for years & then suddenly it was gone.
Some of the "cures" may stimulate the immune system to recognise it. Mostly it's just coincidence.

Threewordseightletters · 25/11/2023 22:20

Swift treatment- like a miracle. Quite expensive but mostly you only need 2-3 treatments

WhamBamThankU · 25/11/2023 22:20

Duct tape. Every time
