Pet sporn

Does anyone have tales of pet sporn?

My dearly departed cat once had an infected fight wound on his jaw/cheek. I could feel it scabbing over but delayed taking to vet. When I got to vet she picked off top layer of scab and squeezed and lots of lovely white pus came out in one go and then clearer pus and blood. Then he had antibiotics. I’m surprised he wasn’t more pissed off about being squeezed but guessing the relief of it being gone and pain and then better helped him. I wished I’d videod that but don’t think vet would’ve approved.

Oh dear lord. I’m all for pet sporn but I’m not sure I can cope with horse sperm being ingested.

@GonnaGetGoingReturns one of my cats is black and it makes it so much harder to get decent sporn pics if he gets scabby!

My cat now is tabby and white and I hope the white part (where her latest scab/fight is) won’t make it hard to take a photo.

She’s got 2 current enemies, a fluffy black cat female from next door and a huge new bengal male, so they’re probably the sources of the wounds!

Fingers crossed!

I use some purpley-red stuff from the vet to disinfect my cats’ wounds. Can’t remember its name but it’s obviously safe to use as it’s prescribed for that.

I once silenced a room by telling my step daughter if my dog had lovely blackheads like her little frenchie did I'd have to grab tissues, latex gloves and distract him with a treat while I popped them all... Cue a horrified silence as everyone stared at me open mouthed!

Hibiscrub. Excellent stuff. Remember to dilute it and read the dire warnings about avoiding eyes and inside ears. It's always useful to keep a bottle in and a 500ml one from Amazon works out so much cheaper than the vet. Also works on humans.

One of my cats recently had a lump on her back, which got huge. It didn't seem to be bothering her, so until it was huge, i didnt think much of it.

Took her to the vet, who said she didn't know either, as the cat didn't seem unwell or unhappy, but asked if she could numb it and put a needle in to see what came out. A fellow sporner! She did, and out came 8ml of thick puss into the syringe. I wish I had been filming it.

Then it clearly got too much and I fainted! I feel like I let the side down.

A couple of stinky cat stories.

We took in a stray cat with a broken tail which became gangrenous and had to be amputated. It stank and there was lots of pus. Bathed and dressed it for weeks although once it healed she was left with a lovely fluffy little stump.
Another stray cat has been hanging around in a bit of a sorry state so we've been feeding him up and getting to know him. Noticed that he'd had a bit of a beating and his eye was bleeding so we managed to get him into the carrier and off to the vet. She was checking him over and picked at a scab on his ear. A weird slice of ear skin came off and then the lumpy green pus started and wouldn't stop. As she turned to get more cotton wool he shook his head and it went everywhere. It went in her face as she was turning round, in my eye, and quite impressively, in an arc across the wall about 7-8 feet up. He's obviously living here now 🙄and dp has been keeping up with the medication and bathing of the ear when I'm at work. I came home last week and dp was quite excited and animated. He'd been doing the dishes and heard something ricochet behind him. The ear scab had come off and pinged across the kitchen leaving the cat with an interesting hole through his ear. No photo of the scab I'm afraid but I'll take one of the ear hole if anyone's interested.

One of the vets we see is always up for a good abscess and can get quite giddy with excitement.
