This is painful and started a week ago with one spot. Spreading like wildfire in the armpit. There is a marble size lump under one that is painful to touch.
Help!!

Those are boils you need antibiotics!

picklemewalnuts · 13/03/2021 21:24

Antibiotics.

Whatalottachocca · 13/03/2021 22:14

Ingrown hairs that have formed boils?

Stormwhale · 13/03/2021 22:16

Foliculitis.

GooGoo52 · 13/03/2021 22:17

I've seen similar reactions to the aluminum in deodorant.

YouBoggleMyMind · 13/03/2021 22:25

Could be hidradenitis suppurativa - defo get yourself to a GP ASAP, antibiotics needed as PP have said.

Meezer2 · 13/03/2021 23:11

Hidradenitis supurativa?

iamtheoneandonlyyy · 13/03/2021 23:12

Thankyou for all the replies I will get myself to a doctor on Monday. This has never happened before it's so uncomfortable!

QueenPaw · 13/03/2021 23:14

Definitely looks like hidradenitis supprativa
I have it in one armpit

Devlesko · 13/03/2021 23:15

If it's HS anti biotics won't touch it.
It doesn't look like it to me, that looks more like an allergy.
But definitely get the the gp, or send him the photo's.

TinaYouFatLard · 13/03/2021 23:15

I left a pea sized lump that turned into a marble sized lump that turned into a gobstopper sized lump....definitely get antibiotics!

I can post a pic of mine when it finally erupted.

QueenPaw · 13/03/2021 23:18

To add yes to the GP if it's never happened before. Dettol soap is what I use to wash with now, GP won't give antibiotics unless infected and they won't drain them unless they're really, really bad now I've been diagnosed. Generally I just ignore them, use warm compresses and they either disappear or burst

I did get antibiotics for this one but it took another week for them to agree to drain (the red bit towards my boob is also how far it spread) Blush

Devlesko · 13/03/2021 23:22

My dh is in hospital with one tonight, the size of a grapefruit. He's stage 3 had it for 30 years.
You can help it with diet and there is a group for those following a preventative diet.
It really isn't good to use heat, you spread the infection, nor to attempt to lance it yourself, and antibiotics shouldn't be used as it's a long term condition and they don't work anyway.

IdblowJonSnow · 13/03/2021 23:28

Looks like HS to me. You need to get a referral to a specialist.
If they get infected go to A and E, they might drain them or perform surgery.
I had this for 9 months, fucking nightmare.
Please see a specialist as many medical staff (that I encountered) hadn't even heard of it and one even laughed at me when I explained it to him.
I think I had rifadin and clindomycin, was a long time ago now.
Try not to scratch them. Keep cool and do not shave!!

IdblowJonSnow · 13/03/2021 23:42

Ps, I used to wash with hibiscrub as mine kept getting infected. Was advised to do this by specialist.
Hope you get to see someone asap.
Talk ages for me to get a referral so dont hang about on that front.

FlickeringHugs · 13/03/2021 23:47

OP my drs is doing an online form system. You go to their website, attach a photo and send the message. If they wish to see you to examine you they give you an appointment. All emails are looked at the following day (so emails monday would be dealt with tuesday). If you can send your request in today or tomorrow it may fall into Fridays backlog and be seen monday. I know its only 1 day quicker but may be worth thinking about Flowers

Lockdownbear · 13/03/2021 23:53

Op I had something that looked like that 20 years ago, the skin started dropping of it leaving it open and really sore.

GP gave me antibiotics which cleared it up.
I think I'd try to get an out of hours Doc tomorrow.

This completely. It does look like Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS), the lumps are inflammation which can be infected too, so some may burst/weep but some not if only inflammation. They are often connected by tracts under the skin, which is why you can get them clustered together. My GP hadn't heard of it, only diagnosed by chance by a locum after my eleventy thousandth visit. Only consultants can prescribe the Rifamacin/Climdamycin combo, so please ask to be referred asap. Flowers
Nannyamc · 14/03/2021 00:02

It was the first sign of my diabetes
I found if i made a pollicitece of white bread in salt it calmed it. Fuiciden cream helped but it was high blood sugar caused it

AntiHop · 14/03/2021 00:06

If it is Hidradenitis suppurativa, I wanted to reassure that it is possible to have it mildly. I get it occasionally, I put TCP on it, and it doesn't cause me much bother.

QueenPaw · 14/03/2021 00:15

Definitely agree it can be mild. I've been stage 1 since I was 12. My armpit is a pain as I don't heal well due to a blood disorder. Currently have two in my groin which are mainly annoying me because they've been there for 3 weeks! But they come up, and go or burst and heal fine. They're a bit tender but I've had them so long I don't really notice them now

sarahC40 · 14/03/2021 00:17

@GooGoo52

Arghh I had that almost like crystals in a sore that took ages to go away and heal. Bloody nightmare
GlamGiraffe · 14/03/2021 00:20

Folliculitis. You need antibiotics. Do you feel generally unwell too?

Colouringaddict · 14/03/2021 04:03

I have had HS for more than 35 years, that looks very similar, when you speak to your GP ask for a referral to a Dermatologist

iamtheoneandonlyyy · 14/03/2021 08:12

I feel a bit run down and stressed but not generally unwell. It's so sore
Well none of this sounds good but I really appreciate the advice
Thank you
