Is this old milk or pus?

Sorry to be gross, but I have a week old baby and my baseline for dignity is a bit skewed. One of my breasts has been sore, hurts when baby feeds from it and is apparently due to blocked ducts. I started massaging/squeezing today and this lot squirted out. Is it milk or pus? It is thick snot coloured. I don't feel feverish.

I would say pus... looks sore! Does it smell bad?

Pippinsqueak · 07/11/2019 19:54

I would get that seen by a health visitor

TrixieFranklin · 07/11/2019 19:58

You need to see a doctor and have the second photo removed

PollyFeather · 07/11/2019 20:04

You really didn't need to post the second photo

Widowodiw · 07/11/2019 20:12

Ffs I really didn’t need to see any of that. You’ve put up nearly a full frontal . We got the gist from the first photo.

PeopleWhoRun · 07/11/2019 20:13

It's pus.

YorkshireLawyer · 07/11/2019 20:18

Jeez, it’s just a picture of a boob, is there really any need for the pearl clutching?! Way to make a woman one week on from giving birth feel great.

OP, I agree that it looks like pus and would suggest you see a GP in the morning. In the meantime, keep feeding from that side as much as possible to drain the infection (if it is infected). If you develop severe pain, swelling, redness or fluctuating temp with sweats/chills then perhaps give your midwife a call, assuming you haven’t been discharged yet and they have an OOH service, or your hospital’s post natal ward, or 111 if neither of those is possible. Hope all’s ok and congrats on your new baby Flowers

Strugglingmum73 · 07/11/2019 20:26

Jesus people, it’s a nipple. 🙄

I would say pus too. Get it checked out.

crispycrisis · 07/11/2019 20:27

Just a boob people chill out. I hope it gets sorted but didn't think you needed a bashing over the picture!

Aloe6 · 07/11/2019 20:28

Fgs it’s only a nipple. We all have them Confused

Yes it looks like pus OP. Definitely get some help as you may need antibiotics.

FabulouslyGlamorousBat · 07/11/2019 20:29

Haha! All the pearl clutching over a breast, from a breast feeding mother! I think it looks dodgy @nearlyfullycooked, see your midwife tomorrow 🍇

wineconnoisseur · 07/11/2019 20:31

It's only a nipple guys #freethenipple 😂😂
Looks like pus OP

Babybluesornormal · 07/11/2019 20:31

What is the consistency? Like tooth paste? Could be a milk bleb. Definitely see a dr and get some support for your latch. Contact LLL or your midwife.

Celebelly · 07/11/2019 20:33

If you're squeamish about body parts, I don't think sporner corner is the place for you!

I agree that it does look like pus. You can sometimes get stringy-looking kind of milk with blockages but the colour and consistency looks like pus. At a week old you'll still be under midwife/HV care so I'd contact them and then possibly your GP depending on advice.

Mumdiva99 · 07/11/2019 20:34

Doctor. Or even call an out of hours as that doesn't look right and if something is wrong better to get it sorted sooner rather than later.

Shesellsseashellsontheseashore · 07/11/2019 20:34

Yep I think its pus too and suggest you speak to your midwife. I had many incidents of soreness and redness and pain when baby fed but I still only had milk coming out. I'm not offended by your pic either. Its just a boob.

RubbingHimSourly · 07/11/2019 20:34

Looks like pus to me. Definitely get yourself looked at.

NoEyeBallsWereDamagedInTheViewingOfThisNipple

We're all adults. With nipples.

RolytheRhino · 07/11/2019 20:35

Yep, definitely get that seen to.

Also, #freethenipple

Saying that, I would ask mods to take the photo down because the pus might be mistaken for a different type of bodily fluid and the picture nabbed for nefarious purposes on other websites IYSWIM.

nearlyfullycooked · 07/11/2019 20:36

Thanks. It doesn't smell, but is sore. I'll try to get a doctor's appointment tomorrow.

Orangepancakes · 07/11/2019 20:38

Jeez.. so a breastfeeding mother can't post a boob on a forum for mums?!

MrsTerryPratchett · 07/11/2019 20:41

Do you have a temperature?

nearlyfullycooked · 07/11/2019 20:45

I don't have a temperature or feel feverish

OP posts:
over50andfab · 07/11/2019 20:48

OP you might find a warm flannel or towel on your boob helps. Hope you get this sorted soon.

Blimey, this is the first time Ive read a post in Sporner corner (didn’t even realise it was) - can’t believe so much shock over a boob!!

nearlyfullycooked · 07/11/2019 20:48

Consistency was like snot.

OP posts:
nearlyfullycooked · 07/11/2019 20:49

Thanks. Will try flannel.
