I've had this thing for a while now. It's about 5mm diameter, looks like a spot but has no head and doesn't react to squeezing - it's quite hard and bleeds if I catch it with the razor. I wondered about an ingrowing hair but poking with a sterilised needle in the Sporner Recommended manner just made it bleed and was very unsatisfying.

Any suggestions? My legs are no great shakes as it is without this unsightly thing making them even less appealing.

Snap! Whatever it is I have one too. Suspect it is a post epilation ingrown hair but many excavation attempts have not yielded anything

Flightywoman · 11/05/2017 22:01

Snap too! I've got a couple...

PurpleDaisies · 11/05/2017 22:01

I think that needs checking by your gp. It's probably nothing to worry about but it's best to be sure.

Crumblevision · 11/05/2017 22:01

Looks like molluscum to me. Disclaimer - I am not medically qualified but DD had similar and GP diagnosed molluscum.

JamAndBread · 11/05/2017 22:01

I have one too. Two in fact. I think I read somewhere ages ago they are ingrown hairs (but then where is the hair and why is it hard?) And once I think I saw someone get theirs cut out (on tv) - but again, this was ages ago and I can't quite remember the detaols.

EnglebertSlaptyback · 11/05/2017 22:16

I have one too, as does my friend. Hard lumps that should squeeze satisfyingly, but just hurt and bleed.
Had it for a good few years on my front, lower leg.
Would love to know what it is!

ImLadybird · 11/05/2017 22:17

It's not molluscum. I recognise it but not sure what it's called. They're pretty common.

DramaAlpaca · 11/05/2017 22:21

I've a couple of those on my legs. My GP didn't have a clue what they were but wasn't concerned about them. So I asked my dermatologist who also said he didn't know Confused but thought they might be scars from insect bites. I am absolutely sure they are not that, so I am none the wiser. I'd love to know definitively what they are.

Yorkshiremum17 · 11/05/2017 22:24

I had one of these, it starts life as an In growing hair, that then becomes scar tissue as you catch it with your razor and stuff. Mine became quite large and I had to have it removed by a plastic surgeon, it's left me with a lovely round scar about the size of a 2p!

Comedyusername · 12/05/2017 00:16

Me too. I give it a good squeeze now and again but nothing. Disappointing

Angryangryyoungwoman · 12/05/2017 00:23

I have several, one on arm, two on leg, would like to know what they are

avamiah · 12/05/2017 00:35

I had something very very similar on my bikini line come up a week after I had a waxing.Let me tell you it was horrendous and very sore as the hair inside was long but had folded over and had become infected because of all the proding and squeezing.
I went to my GP and was told it was now a infected cyst and was prescribed antibiotics.
After about 10 days it went down and the hair came through normally.I never waxed again and have had no more problems.

MidnightSheep · 12/05/2017 20:01

I had something similar - it was an unpigmented mole and the Dr removed it. He wished he hadn't as it was very deeply embedded (it was 8cm long). The nurse wished he hadn't as well when I threw up on her when she removed the stitches Blush

CoteDAzur · 13/05/2017 09:20

Looks like Molluscum to me, too. Have it treated before it spreads.

Whisky2014 · 13/05/2017 09:24

midnight I didn't realise miles had depth! I thought they were only as big and thick as they appear on the skin, didnt realise they can be long!!! Ugh

Flightywoman · 13/05/2017 11:24

Mine isn't molluscum, it's been exactly the same for years. No changes, not spread, it's just...there. Being a bit red.

MidnightSheep · 13/05/2017 13:23

Me neither Whiskey til the Dic put it in a tube and sent it off for a biopsy.

MidnightSheep · 13/05/2017 13:23

Doc even, not Dic!!!

PossumInAPearTree · 13/05/2017 13:29

I have two lumps like this in my face. GP no idea and also not bothered.

Every now and then I get a short bit of wiry stubble type hair appear in the centre. Pull it out, get a bit of a scab, spot thing calms down slightly but still there and then increases in size/redness again.

No idea what to do. Had them for years and they're noticeable.

eurochick · 13/05/2017 14:27

I have a small number of similar lumps on my arms and legs. I've never asked the dr but my mum told me my grandad had them and was told they were fatty deposits. They never develop a head or anything and really scar if you try to get rid of them.

Vintage1980 · 13/05/2017 14:33

It's a dermatofibroma.

VivienneWestwoodsKnickers · 13/05/2017 14:42

I've had a similar lump zapped off my chin. Cost a lot less than expected, scabbed for 3 weeks and now it's all gone with barely a mark left behind. GP had said it was an overgrowth of skin but wouldn't be drawn beyond that.

PossumInAPearTree · 13/05/2017 14:54

Vivienne, what sort of person did it? Do I need a proper dermatology dr at a bupa hospital or some sort of skin clinic?

savagehk · 13/05/2017 14:58

Hm. I have one on my foot. Having a google for 'molluscum' and doesn't look like that really and it's nowhere I've ever shaved/annoyed so the other suggestions don't work either. Dermatofibroma might be right although mine is very white and most of the pics seem to be more pigmented.

TroubleInSnowland · 13/05/2017 15:12

DH says pinch the skin around it it and if it sinks it could be a dermatofibroma. See link
